Saint Charbel was a Maronite Catholic saint
who lived in the 19th and early
20th centuries. He lived a life of isolation
as a monk in a very humble room
in the monastary, which is now named after
him.
During his life, he performed many miracles
of healing the sick and crippled,
the traces of which are on display in the
monastary today. Also on display
are his personal belongings as well as his
writings, which were all in the old
Syriac Aramaic language that Jesus Christ
spoke.
Maybe the best miracle whose traces still remain
to us today is his face image
that was mysteriously printed on a photograph
taken by some priests who
visited the monastary years after his death.
