My Own Conclusions: From all of my research, I came to the realization that op art is a hard topic to research. This art movement, which interested me from the beginning of the research, did not have a lot of print sources devoted to it as with impressionism or cubism. The virtual communities that I did find contained a lot of information on them. This information in turn helped me to make my own conclusions about what I think the technological effects are on op art. As we can see, op art is opening its doors to many creative possibilities in art. What we fail to recognize about the software programs like Escher Web Sketch, TesselMania and "Mirror Artist" is that the uniqueness of Escher is portrayed through these software programs. Expert programmers designed these programs in such a way that anybody can use them; meaning that anybody can draw like Escher. Anybody can draw based on his principals. As a result, new images in op art will no longer be original because they will all be a derivative of Escher's originality. Yes, these programs provoke viewer participation, however, there will no longer be that aura that shines through the artwork. Another drawback is that many op art images on certain sites were removed due to severe copyright laws. The free access to absolutely everything on the Internet has lead to the abuse of these rights. This can in turn contradict the role of the Internet, which is to provide Internet surfers with a free access to information. One things that we have to keep in mind is that most sites on the Internet have copyright laws to protect authorized work or property. This is just one of the turnarounds of the Internet that we simply cannot avoid. Op art, in conclusion, is still in its primary stage of development. It has a long way to go before it is greatly recognized as other art movements such as Impressionism and Cubism. Op art, with the help of technology, is now able to interact with its viewers. Viewers are constantly encouraged to participate in op art, and to produce op art. Op art is open to new and different interpretations. It is constantly expanding its standards, and opening its doors to new ways of art. Thank-you for taking the time to view our site. Feel free to E-Mail Me with any of your questions or comments.
