Welcome on the site of the I.M.A.

The International Manga Association (I.M.A.) is an independent non-profit association that publishes comic books, graphic novels and mangas. Our aim is to allow Europeans (and Westerners in general) to discover other cultures through manga, BD or comic books. But also to establish contacts and initiate collaboration between artists from different countries. With for objectives, a better understanding of these countries and their culture (too often stereotyped), as well as to promote Europeans and International manga/comics in its whole. Although we have a particular interest in Japanese culture and artists, our publications and collaborations are not limited to this country alone. Indeed, we believe that manga/comics/BD can be international and that such form of art can only benefit from this melting pot of talents.

We publish graphic novels from new artists. We allow readers to discover new styles through a free magazine titled BDzine and distributed for free in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and The Netherlands (magazine in full colour, in French language). Authors willing to participate to this magazine should contact us. BDzine is aimed at presenting outstanding artists from all over the world, that are either unknown in Europe or new on the comic/manga scene; a sort of free help for them to get known in Europe. We publish also a compendium gathering short comics from all over the world (published in French). As we are a non-profit association with limited funds, participation and contribution to any of our publications is benevolent. I.e. we do not and can not pay the contributors (authors keep the copyright of their work), but on the other hand we cover printing costs and delivery costs (which is not negligible), and sometimes invite authors to comic book fairs in France. Benefits (if any) are simply re-used to produce a next publication, and so on. All the people working for I.M.A. are 100% benevolent and are not paid; they do it for fre, to share with others their passion of manga/comic/BD and to help new authors to get known.

It is hoped that through this publications and active contribution from every part of the globe, we will be able to establish friendly and cultural relationships between citizens from different countries. And will allow comic books to be better appreciated as a true form of art.

Enjoy.
