CMA Night
Simon School Executive Programs
Dear Stephanie,

As IMA members, I would expect that everyone is familiar with the CMA certification.  Knowing about it, and working toward it, is two entirely different things.  Now is the time to be proactive about your career path and consider putting in the effort to get certified in management accounting.  This certification is not just for accountants, but covers a wide variety of subjects including accounting, finance and IT!  We are having our annual CMA night at RIT again this year.  There will be a presentation about the CMA, as well as a panel discussion of current CMAs and those that are currently going through the testing process.  This event is free for current students, with a nominal $5 charge for non-students.  Hope to see you there.

We had a solid turn-out for the A/R and A/P seminar held at Mario's in March.  On behalf of the chapter, I extend special thanks to IMA members Terry Hartmann from Xerox and Stephanie Quattrone from Paychex for sharing their expertise with those in attendance.  Additionally, we appreciate the excellent participation of representatives from Keybank, Marcus Veno/Monro Muffler, Doug Baxter/Paychex, and Tim Schmandt/Datrose.

We are working to set the board of directors for next year, so if you have any interest in participating in any capacity, please contact me.   I would enjoy hearing from you.

Best regards,

David Alkins
Chapter President

Would you like to be eligible for $$$ scholarships $$$$ only available as a student member of the IMA?
Are you currently employed and looking to advance your career path?
Would you like to learn some tips for studying for the CMA exam?
If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then this meeting is for you!  Whether you're an accounting/finance professional or an accounting student, you can have all your questions about becoming a CMA answered by local CMA's and those currently sitting for the exams.

As a thank you to the IMA for partnering with Gleim to increase certification among members, Gleim will provide every Chapter member with a 4-hour CPE course (any one in our course catalog) at NO charge! The Gleim CPE courses are delivered via the Internet, so Chapter members can study when and where it is convenient for them. With the trend towards conserving resources, Gleim knows that many training budgets have been reduced. Eliminating travel costs associated with CPE is one of the areas where a Gleim CPE course can be of benefit.
Any members wishing to take advantage of this complimentary
course should email chad.murray@gleim.com or call 800.874.5346 ext. 222.
During the March meeting Key Bank presented on the rules surrounding International ACH Transactions. Specifically mentioned during the training was the "Business Travel Rule". As a follow-up Key Bank has passed along the specific wording surrounding this rule.
