Nectar Feeders
WARNING:- Please be certain what species of bird you have,
and what they eat. I can not stress this enough.
These are guidelines only.
More deaths are caused from ignorance. For example:-
Just because you have a parrot DOES NOT mean they eat seed as in the case of lorikeets.
The ultimate responsibility remains on you, check and double check on EVERYTHING regarding the birds you have in your care.
Farex baby cereal

Tin baby food: egg, banana, fruit custard

Wheat germ and or Semolina
-
Honey and or Brown sugar
-
Infant vitamin drops or a vitamin supplement from your local pet shop

Dry Lorikeet Mix
-
Calcium is EXTREMELY important in any supplement
Meat Eaters
Very lean mince
-
Dog Chow
-
Insectivore Mix from your pet shop

Calcium powder (extremely important for bones)

Vitamin supplement
Miscellaneous Foods
Mealyworms, any large pet shop should carry these.

Sounds horrible but breeding mice is a good idea.

Worms, small lizards, Crickets.
Please remember that these recipes are only for supplement feeding or in the case of injured or small chicks. It is important to provide their
natural diet whenever possible. Natural diet being native flowers such as Bottlebrush, Grevillea, Eucalyptus.
Recipies
Nectar Feeding Recipes
250 mls of warm water.

1 dspoon of honey.

6 drops of vitamin supplement.

1 tspoon of baby food.

2 tblspoons of Farex.
-
1 tspoon spoon of Wheatgerm.

1/4 tspoon of Calcium Powder.
-
Shake till mixed and supply when necessary.
Meat Eating Recipes
1 kg of Lean Mince.

1/2 cup of Dog Chow.
-
1 cup of Insectivore Mix.
-
1 tspoon of Calcium Powder.
-
1/4 tspoon of Vitamin Drops.
-
Mix well. can be frozen in small blocks till needed.
Suitable for all meat eaters, but again nothing beats the real thing such as: Mice, Grasshoppers, Worms and Insects. Please note
that feeding meat eating birds SLUGS is a definate NO-NO, because the slime tends to block their airpassage.
