TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF- By Iris M. Gonzalez “Do not come any closer,” God told him. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.” Exodus 3:5 Sometimes we are filled with dirty things that keep us far from God, and we feel as if God has turned away from us and deserted us. However, it is in our mind that we feel distant from God. God is always there for us, no matter the circumstances we are in or what we’re facing, He is always there. Sin also makes us feel far and distant from God but when we confess our sins He’s merciful and forgives us from all of our iniquities. Moses had a relationship with God, and even Moses was told not to come any closer without taking off his sandals first, for he was standing on holy ground. Nowadays we have to be diligent in how to live a life that pleases God, how to live according to his holy word and as Christians we come across many obstacles, disappointments, betrayal, adultery (among others) by people we love and how difficult it is to forgive when we're hurting. We as followers of Jesus we experience many things that really put us to the test. We must always come to GOD FIRST and tell him how we feel and open our hearts to him because He wants to see how sincere we are with him, how important he is in our live, and in what place we have him in our hearts. God is a powerful God and sometimes we are the ones that make him small. He was the one who part the sea it wasn’t Moses. He was the one who created you. He was the one that sent his only son to die on the cross so you can have eternal life. God is powerful and loving and He wants you to love him more than anything in this world. I encourage you to take your shoes off. The shoes of anger that drive us to lose control and make us sin. The shoes of envy that separate us from God. The shoes of lust and flesh-desires for those who live in the flesh will never see God. The shoes of doubt, for the word of God says that without faith it’s impossible to please God. The shoes of hypocrisy. The Shoes of murmuring about your brother and sister in Christ. The shoes of irreverence. The shoes of lies and dishonesty. The shoes of laziness. And all those shoes that cause us pain and keep us from walking through the path that God has prepared for us even before we were born. We must renew our minds everyday and be in constant communion with God, ask him for forgiveness and thank him at all times even in the midst of your pain. Be thankful to God for He knows what you’re going through and He will carry you through. Just believe, remember take off the shoes of doubt ness and believe in him. Now put the shoes of love, forgiveness, patience, peace, and follow Jesus and start a new relationship with the All-Powerful, merciful, loving heavenly Father. To be close to God, to have a relationship with him, to feel his presence everyday we must stand on holy ground. |
