M-O-T-H-E-R

"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
--Howard Johnson (c. 1915)

The following poem was shared with me with great pride from the mother of the man who wrote it. I can't tell you how proud I am to be able to share it with you! His e-mail address is at the end of the poem. If you enjoy it, please send him a note and tell him!

The date is April 12th of 82 ,
that's the day God gave me to you
He said "teach this child the best you can,
Teach this child of me and my holy land
And that's a job that you have done well,
Cause now I'll see you in Heaven not hell.
When I needed advice on how to Love and care,
Guess what? You were always there.

We have had our fights, this is true
But there's not a fight in the world
that would make me stop loving you.
Your love for me is unconditional this I know,
cause when I'm around I hear it every 30 seconds or so
You've seen me at my worst and didn't run away
you've seen me at times when it hurt you to stay.

Mom you have done more for me than anyone I know,
and when I need a friend to talk ..to you I shall go.
So remember Mom I love you with all of my heart,
and there's no force in this world that could pry us apart
