Sindarin Elf, a prince of Doriath and kinsman of Elwë. He married Galadriel in Doriath and probably fled with her to Arvernien after the fall of Doriath.
At the end of the First Age, Celeborn decided to remain in Middle-earth, and he dwelt in Lindon for a while. After that, he and Galadriel went to Eregion; they later settled Lórien, where Celeborn was for long Lord of the Galadrim. During the War of the Ring Celeborn led the army of Lórien that took Dol Guldur. In the Fourth Age, he was for a while King of East Lórien, but without Galadriel he grew weary of Middle-earth and went to Rivendell. Perhaps after that he went over Sea.
Although Celeborn was an Elven-lord of great fame and was called Celeborn the Wise, in LotR he does not seem especially bright.
