Dear Visitor,
Welcome to the site that will help you earn, and keep you from getting burned! After two years of little activity, I have finally returned and fixed broken links and updated information on each and every site -- some of which no longer exist. For sure, the past year has been tough for all Americans, and the consumer research industry wasn't spared any of the economic fallout. But don't despair, there are some great sites still out there and I'll help you find them. On a happier note, many of the fraudulent survey sites out there have also closed their doors. Just don't let your guard down; it's likely that the scammers have found new avenues to exploit unsuspecting consumers. Remember, the first question you should ask about a survey or paid to surf site is, Will I earn, or will I get burned?

| American Consumer Opinion is a great online survey site that offers cash rewards for its surveys. The invitations I receive have become less frequent over the last 2 years (Nov 2008), but the rewards are worthwhile for completing simple surveys that cover a wide variety of topics. They will send you a link to a screener survey via email when one is available for you. You will be entered into a lottery for answering these short surveys, and you will be rewarded with cash if you qualify for the full-length survey. | Click IQ has been on the scene for several years. Unlike the majority of survey sites out there, Click IQ endears itself to the younger male audience. The majority of the surveys that I take revolve around technology and purchasing patterns. The number of opportunities has decreased steadily over the last 1-2 years (Nov 2008), so it's unclear whether Click IQ is a long-term player a brief but fun-while-it-lasted survey site. The minimum cashout is $25, so you will have to participate in several studies to be rewarded. Luckily, they are generous with the rewards. You can choose to get paid by an ACH deposit to your bank account or a paper check, although the ACH deposit will occur much more quickly. | Epinions is a reputable comparison shopping site that allows members to review virtually any product, from movies to power tools. It is now owned by eBay.com. The premise is simple: find the product you want to review by searching the database and click the link to write a review about that product. The amount of money earned is based on income share, or the amount of revenue that your review brings to the site. Thus, more popular and more expensive products will earn more income share. There is no limit to the number of reviews that can be written, but they are rated by the community and low quality reviews will not be rewarded. Earning a reputation as a good writer is also important to generating income share, since the reviews of trusted members and Top Reviewers will appear higher on the list of all reviews. Since incomse share is generated over the lifetime of the review, building a large base of quality reviews will earn for years (at least 2) to come. It can take some time to earn much, but there is no limit on the earning potential. | BEWARE: Once a reputable organization, Epoll has become infamous for its inability to deliver the rewards it promises. Their website FAQ indicates that rewards arrive within 6-8 weeks; however, I still had not received mine after 40 weeks. In an email, Epoll customer care indicated that the timeline had not passed and they were unsure when my reward would be processed. I promptly filed a BBB complaint and I received my reward within a week! | GoZing Online Surveys is a trashy-looking, schizophrenic website that acts both as a hawker of cell phone services and a third party fetcher for primary research companies like OTX Research. Fitting of it's trashy-looking website, GoZing employs user-unfriendly tactics. GoZing frequently switches users from one survey to another -- sometimes changing the reward value. This is a function of the fact that GoZing is an intermediary that does not conduct market research on its own. This 'bait and switch' tactic is disclaimed on the GoZing survey page, and is something that panelists should be aware of. Email notifications are not reliable, so checking the website (when its functional) is advisable. I have not taken a survey in over two years (Nov 2008), and the website now appears all but abandoned -- probably due to a weak market presence and a lack of credibility. | Greenfield Online is a popular, well-established online survey site, but I have found them to be very unprofitable. You can access surveys through emails or the website, but the website is often less-than-useful because it lists opportunities that you do not meet the basic criteria to qualify for (age, gender, etc). I have had few opportunities to participate in Greenfield surveys, making it difficult to offer a valuable opinion to future members. The BBB file and Epinions.com reviews appear to be positive in nature, showing complaints that are not unusual for a company of its size. | Lightspeed Consumer Panel is one of my favorite online survey sites. The number of opportunities varies widely from month to month, but I have found Lightspeed to be one of the few consistent performers in the field over the long-term. The level of compensation also varies widely, but is generally above that offered by competing panels. I've spent 30 min for some spare change, but I've also gotten ten bucks (in points) for a few minutes of my time! Reward requests are processed very quickly and the minimum exchange is very low. There is now a flat 'reward processing' deduction that is charged at redemption, making it worth your while to hoard points for a larger reward. In order to maximize the opportunities that you receive, be sure to fill out the short Quick Match surveys that will appear on your account page periodically.[MAIN MENU] | |

| MyPoints is a pioneer among Paid to Surf programs, and one of very few that still offers a great value to its members. I've earned over $100 in total rewards for simple activities like reading email, registering for free offers, taking short advertiser-sponsored surveys, and shopping. Naturally, you earn the most points by shopping through referral links, to the tune of a few points per dollar spent at mainstream retailers like Kohls, Old Navy, and 1800Flowers. This makes MyPoints a must-join for any online shopper -- you're going to get rewarded for doing shopping that you would be doing anyway! One of the great values to members is the enormous number of reward options, many of which are gift cards to merchants that you can earn points by shopping at. Despite the fact that the BBB gives MyPoints an unsatisfactory rating, I have ALWAYS received my earned reward within 2 weeks. | NFO is a veritable institution of consumer research, around long before the information age. They bring decades of experience and reliability to the internet through MySurvey. The topics and format of the surveys vary widely, from online surveys to mail-in diaries and from product concepts to product testing. My experience with NFO has been both spectacular and lucrative. I've tested everything from laundry detergent to toliet paper, and have earned hundreds of dollars for doing so. The number of surveys depends on your demographic; I typically get 3-5 every month that vary widely in involvement and compensation. | SendMoreInfo is one of the few Paid to Read Email sites that has survived over the years, but the value is almost nil compared to its early hay day. Following the decline of the internet advertising industry, SendMoreInfo now uses an Income Share approach to paying its members. This means that the amount you earn per email is related to their revenue streams, which can vary month to month and adds up to very little. It took me over a year to earn $10.00, and I still haven't received my check. Rather than picking a fight over $10.00, I decided to close my account. I'm glad that my inbox isn't clogged with junk email anymore. SendMoreInfo should be approached with caution, and consumers should know that there is little to profit from here.
