Oktobeerfest Party this
Month
Don’t forget that the Impaling Alers Oktobeerfest
is coming up this month! This will be in place of and at the usual
time of our regular meeting, which is Friday October 18th. Be thinking
of your favorite main dish, salad, dessert or other food items to
bring along. And (of course) your homebrewed BEER!!!
This is a family event. Kids and pets welcome!
Beer Style Brew Off
At last month’s meeting, there seemed to be only
two people who brewed German Style Hefeweizen. Since both of these
beers were there, it was decided to have those attending sample them
side by side and determine which one they thought was better. The two
beers were brewed by Kevin and myself. The result of the tasting held
a slight preference for my example. Thank you Kevin for participating.
The next style will be judged in November and will
be IPA. I hope we can get more interest in this style of beer, since I
know most of you drink it regularly. At last month’s meeting we
sampled several examples of IPA, both British style and Northwest, but
I didn’t write down which ones they were.
Last month’s newsletter has
the guidelines for this style for those who are interested.
