“I Love You”

by: Nijuuichigou/Android No. 21

Vegeta slammed the door as he walked into the house. The vibrations shook the whole place, but he didn’t care. The only thing he cared about was getting food, because he was terribly hungry.

He took his time, however, because of the proud Saiyajin he was, to get to the refrigerator. Gokou would run like a mad dog to get to nourishment, but he would not. He despised looking desperate.

As he was about to open the fridge, a piece of paper held up by a magnet caught his eye.

Hmph. It’s Bulma’s writing. He could tell in a glance. Then he noticed it was addressed to him.

“Vegeta.” He read aloud. “I Lov-” The whole world suddenly stopped for him.

Vegeta’s legs sent him backwards into a wall with a loud thud.

I- I Love You??? The Saiyajin prince had his hand on his chest, as if trying to stop his heart from beating so fast. It was too much of a surprise for him. He was totally caught off guard.

The thud made the magnet fall off. The note now floated around, then it landed near Vegeta’s feet. He read it one more time.

Vegeta,

I Love You.

Bulma ^_^

Forgetting about his hunger, Vegeta picked himself up and went outside to the Gravity Room.

It was useless. Vegeta tried to forget the note by training, but he couldn’t concentrate himself. While he was flying in the air, he thought he heard a voice whisper “I love you” in his ear. Then he loast his balance and found himself flying.

By the time he actually thought Bulma was watching him, holding Trunks in her arms, he decided it was time to confront his mate. Those three words disturbed him so much!

“Woman! Where the hell are you!!??”

Vegeta yelled about three times before he was exasperated. He marched into Bulma’s underground laboratory, slamming the door open.

“Why didn’t you come up!!!!”

But he was speaking to no one. The lab was empty.

“Hmph. She must be asleep.”

He flew upstairs and barged into their room, intentionally making a racket.

But the bed was perfectly made.

Inside the baby’s room Trunks wasn’t asleep in his crib too. The mobile tinkled a melody that irritated Vegeta so much, he blasted it before leaving the room.

Now where was his mate and his brat?

Ring ring!

Chi-chi grabbed the handset. “Hello, Son Resi-”

“Is my mate there?”

Chi-chi immediately recognized Vegeta’s strong voice. “Oh. Vegeta. No, Bulma isn’t here. She’s-”

Vegeta had hung up.

Slamming the handset, Chi-chi could tear her hair in anger. “How rude! He didn’t even let me finish where Bulma and Trunks-chan are!”

“K’so! Where is that blasted woman!!!”

Vegeta now felt the effects of not having eaten lunch. Again he marched into the kitchen. He took everything he could find in the fridge.

As he put the sandwich in his mouth, the paper now on the floor caught his eye again. Those words still struck him, or rather, his heart. What did Bulma mean by that? Why was she telling him this, when not one living being had told him that?

Why did she leave a note?

Leave. It was in the question.

“It can’t be!!!” gasped Vegeta. The sandwich fell from his mouth onto the plate.

Now it all seemed to fit. He checked their room again. The bed was made. That was when he saw a few of Bulma’s belongings had disappeared.

Trunks’s room lacked some of his best clothes and toys.

D-did Bulma leave him?

B-but why?

Vegeta’s knees gave way. He fell to the floor kneeling, his palms desperate to hold the cold kitchen tiles.

How could his mate leave him just now? What was wrong? His mind suddenly flashed back to the many arguments and quarrels that they had. Even to the point where he didn’t even try to save them from a hovercraft crash.

Now Vegeta felt totally useless.

He lied facedown on the cold tiles.

The sound of a door opening woke him up. Vegeta sat up and looked behind him. It was already evening, but someone had turned on the lights. It was too bright, plus his eyes were still groggy for him to make out the newcomer.

“Vegeta!? Why were you sleeping on the floor?!”

That voice! It was his mate’s voice!

“Vegeta? What’s wro-”

Bulma was cut short when Vegeta was only inches away in front of her.

“Uhhh…Vegeta?” She put Trunks down on the floor. She watched him crawl about, but Vegeta was still onto her. His eyes burned deeply into hers. Finally he spoke.

“Why are you still here?”

Bulma was totally confused. “Why am I here? This is our house!”

She stared at Vegeta’s face. It was full of mixed emotions. She couldn’t understand what he was thinking.

Vegeta then cornered her into the wall. “Didn’t you leave me?”

“Leave you? Why would I?”

He held up the note that bothered him all day. “Then why would you write this, leave it on the fridge, and come back so late at night?”

Bulma read the note and let out a gasp. “Oh my! What was I thinking!” She opened her mouth to explain.

“Vegeta, Trunks and I had to leave because we had an appointment with the doctor for a yearly check-up. I thought we were to stay for two days, so that’s why I packed up some things. Luckily we finished early, and we were able to get back home tonight. About the note…”

Bulma looked down and felt a blush creep up her cheeks. “I really don’t know what I was thinking. I guess I let my emotions take over.”

Vegeta’s cheeks suddenly reddened too. But his heart was now light with joy as the awful thought was removed. His mouth curved into a smile.

He put a hand on her shoulder. The other he used to tilt her head upwards.

Vegeta’s mouth covered Bulma’s as they exchanged a gentle kiss pure of happiness.

When the kiss ended, and Vegeta had left without a word, Bulma was still standing in the kitchen. She gazed at the refrigerator.

Another note was pinned on it.

Woman,

I love you too.

Vegeta
