True Feelings?

"Great Christmas party Bulma! I've never celebrated this holiday before." Gohon said.

"Thanks Gohon." Bulma answered as she walked by. She was heading toward Vegeta who was standing against the far wall with his arms crossed in front of his chest."Vegeta? I need to talk to you. "Bulma said quietly.

"What is it woman?!" Vegeta replied.

"We need to talk privately!" She said.

By the tone of her voice Vegeta could tell Bulma meant something that was probably somewhat important so he said, "Ok, where do you want to talk?"

"Over here," she said pointing at a door, "Down stairs." When they reached the room downstairs she stopped and pointed at a chair. "You might want to sit down for this." She said.

"I'm sure I can take any news you have standing up!" Vegeta said in his normal rude tone.

"Well remember that one night about two months ago?" Bulma said.

"Yeah, what about it?"He said.

"Well...um..."

"Get out with it woman! I haven't got all day you know!" Vegeta interrupted rudely.

"I think I might be pregnant." She said quietly.

"What?! From that one night! Oh Kame! I can't be a father! Why did you have to get pregnant?!" he yelled.

"It's not my fault!" Bulma replied on the verge of tears, "Ya know it takes two to make a baby, I didn't do this by myself!"

By now Bulma was crying loudly and every one up stairs at the party had heard them. Goku came down to see what was going on.

"Hey guys. What's up? We heard you down here making noise so I came to investigate." Goku said. He saw Bulma crying and asked her what was wrong.

"Goku, I'm pregnant." Bulma said between sobs.

"Wow! Really? Did you tell Yamcha yet? I'm sure he'll be happy!" Goku said.

"Goku, Yamcha...Well he's not the father."

"What? Than who is?" Goku asked surprised by Bulma's answer.

"Well," she said and pointed at Vegeta who was standing with his arms folded in front of his chest again.

"VEGETA!?" Goku said with wide eyes. "But I thought that you and Yamcha were together"

"Well, we are, er, we were." She said." We broke up earlier today, our relationship just wasn't working."

"So now you're hooked up with Vegeta?" Goku asked some what puzzled by the whole situation.

"Not exactly, we just had fun for one night about two months ago." She said.

"So you cheated on Yamcha for Vegeta?" Goku asked kind of in disbelief.

"What's wrong Kakarot? Am I not as good as Yamcha? That faggot is a weakling!" Vegeta interrupted their conversation.

"No he's not!" Bulma said, "He's nice and sweet. Way better than you'll ever be!" She said to Vegeta. 

Vegeta smirked and said, "Well if he's so great why am I the father of your child huh? He never made you pregnant."

"You're only the father because I made a stupid decision, more like a huge mistake. I'd actually rather have Yamcha be the father, because he'd make a better one than you. You're just an arrogant prince that thinks he's above everybody else!" Bulma yelled.

By now most everybody upstairs had stopped partying and were eaves dropping on the three. Yamcha looked pale from hearing how Bulma got pregnant while they were still going out. 

"Well I can't believe that I'm going to father a child with such a weakling as yourself!" Vegeta said, " Why would I, the prince of Saiyins, want a weak child?" With that Vegeta stormed up the stairs and through the door practically knocking over the eaves droppers who all gasped when they saw him. "Out of my way you fools!" he said to them.

Downstairs Bulma was on the floor talking to Goku.

"How could I have been such a fool?" She said to Goku, "I never should of gotten involved with that bastard!"

"We all make mistakes Bulma-" 

Goku was cut off by Bulma who yelled, "But we all don't go around getting pregnant Goku! I'm so dumb! Why would I fool around with Vegeta? He's a total loser! He probably won't even help raise the child! I don't want that kind of family! Damn it! What an idiot thinking that Vegeta would actually settle down for awhile!"

"Bulma it's ok, we'll all help you raise the child. Just think of us as one big family. We're all here for you. Don't worry." Goku said.

With that, Goku helped Bulma up and they walked up the stairs. When they reached everybody else, they were all quiet. There was this long awkward silence that seemed to last forever.

Then Gohon said, "Congratulations Bulma!" Everybody else also congratulated her and hugged her. Everybody except for Yamcha, he looked hurt and as if he was going to be sick. 

But then he looked up and quietly said, "Congratulations."

The next day while Yamcha was sitting in his apartment Bulma came over. She told Yamcha that she needed someone to be with, not a boyfriend necessarily, but just a friend to be there for her. Yamcha said that he would always be there for her no matter what, even if they weren't going out. Bulma was happy. She left after a little while and went over to Chi Chi's house. When she got there, Chi Chi answered the door quickly and invited her in.

After they were sitting down at the table Chi Chi asked,"So, just how far along are you?" 

"Well, I think I'm about two months but I'll have to go to the doctor to be sure." Bulma replied.

"Oh really." she said. "Bulma, why did you pick Vegeta? I mean Yamcha's still cute and he's at least he's human."

"Well, I didn't mean for it to happen, it just did." She recalls that one night about two months ago. 

She and Yamcha had just had another fight. This time Yamcha stormed out and went home. Bulma went up to her bedroom and proceeded to cry her heart out. Vegeta (who was in the room next to hers) had heard the whole thing and he now was annoyed with all the loud noise so he walked into Bulma's room.

"Why are you crying woman?!" he snapped. 

Bulma straightened up and said, "Yamcha just left and I think it's for good this time." "Well good! At least there won't be so much noise anymore and I can actually sleep." He said and started to leave. 

"Wait!" Bulma said, "You don't understand. I needed him. I need someone to protect me. To keep me safe."

Vegeta came back in, "Why? He's a weakling! He's always leaving so how is today different? You haven't seemed to need him before."

Bulma thought, then said, "Well maybe it's not him I need. Maybe it's someone else."

"Who now?! Another bum like Yamcha?" He said.

"Maybe not. Maybe someone completely different, someone smarter and stronger, someone else who can keep me safe." She said implying Vegeta.

"Well, I fit that description. Smart and strong. Wanna try me?" He asked in a deep smooth voice.

"Sure" was the last word Bulma said before she woke up to find Vegeta next to her asleep in her bed. 

"So that's how it happened" Bulma said kind of sheepishly.

"And now you're pregnant, for sure? And your positive it's his?"Chi Chi asked.

"Yes I'm sure that I'm pregnant. I know that it's his because me and Yamcha... Well, let's just say that he might be a baseball player, but he doesn't hit any 'home runs' if you know what I mean." she replied and sighed.

"Oh, wow." Chi Chi said.

"Well, I'd better be going. Let me know if you hear from that stupid bastard Vegeta." Bulma said as she left.

Three months later Bulma was big and obviously pregnant and there was still no sign of Vegeta. Bulma wasn't surprised. Goku and everybody else all treated her good, but she still she wished Vegeta would be there because he was the father after all. That evening at dinner, Goku picked up a familiar ki. He recognized it as Vegeta's. He made up an excuse and left the table and went outside to look for him. Far off in the distance he saw a light moving fast in the sky. He took off and started to fly towards it. When he got close, he slowed and could recognize Vegeta. Vegeta stopped and looked at him. 

"Where have you been Vegeta?"  Goku asked him.

"Away, thinking. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad to have a little brat. I could train him and teach him to be a great fighter like me." Vegeta said.

"How do you know it's a boy?" Goku asked him, "It could be a girl, what would you do then?"

"It's a boy Kakarot. You know that!" Vegeta said.

"Well I do, but how do you?" Goku said.

"I haven't been away completely. I've been watching you guys and I heard Bulma say that she was having a boy." He answered.

~ "Oh so he does care for her" Goku thought.~

"Well yeah she is. Why don't you come in and talk to everyone? I'm sure Bulma will be glad to see you. She doesn't want her baby to be fatherless you know. Come on."

With that, Goku and Vegeta went inside. Everyone was surprised to see him. Especially Bulma.

"Oh you're finally here!" she said standing up.

~Vegeta noticed her big belly and thought "Wow, I really am a father!"~ 

Bulma asked to be excused and told Vegeta that they should talk privately. Vegeta followed her into her room.

"Well I went to the doctor and he said that it was a healthy baby boy." Bulma told Vegeta.

"Good. Now he can grow up to be a strong fighter like me." He said.

"Ow!" Bulma said rubbing her belly, "Well he certainly is strong! I think he's already training inside me. Come feel this."

Vegeta nervously walked toward Bulma who was sitting on her bed. He sat down and slowly stretched out his hand. Bulma grabbed his hand and pulled the glove off then put it to her stomach. Vegeta's eyes got big as he felt the baby, his baby, kick.

"Wow," He said slipping out of his normal rude character. Vegeta stood up and said, "Well Bul-, er, Woman, if I'm going to stick around you can't ask me to snuggle or anything soft like that! The Prince of Saiyins doesn't snuggle!" He snapped. "Things are going to be the same except you're pregnant ok?" He asked somewhat nicely.

"Fine," Bulma said. "I'm just glad you're back."

Vegeta turned and began to leave. Bulma sat up.

"Wait," she said, "Vegeta will you stay to keep me company?" She asked in that same luring voice she had used to get Vegeta the first time.

"Well," He started but was cut off by Bulma.

"Please?" She said in a little girl voice.

"Oh all right Woman! But no snuggling!" Vegeta snapped. Bulma looked on the verge of tears. "Sorry," he said and sat down next to her on the bed. Before he realized it, Bulma was asleep in his arms. 

~ "Hmm" he thought, "Maybe having a little brat won't be to bad. I might even enjoy training him."~ 

He looked at Bulma sleeping. He put his hand on her big pregnant belly. She reached up and hugged it in her sleep. Vegeta felt his son kick and he smiled, not a smirk or a grin, a genuine smile. "I love you Bulma" he whispered. With that, he fell asleep.

"I Hate you Vegeta!" Bulma yelled.

"Oh shut up Woman!" Vegeta said.

"Thanks to you I can't take two steps without being karate chopped by your son!" She yelled at him again. "Ow! There he goes again! Oh Kame!"

Vegeta walked out of the room to go train in the gravity room Bulma had made him.

"Fine! Leave! I don't care about you! You're just a son of a -" Bulma was cut off by Goku who had just walked in.

"Hey Bulma! What's all the yelling about?" He asked.

"Oh, hi Goku. I'm just pissed at Vegeta. Our son insists on training inside me and I needed to blow off some steam, that's all." She said.

"Oh," He said, "Chi Chi was like that with Gohon. Always blaming me for -"

Chi Chi walked in. "What were you saying about me Goku?" she asked.

"Uh... Nothing. Absolutely nothing! As a matter of fact, I was just leaving!" He said nervously as he quickly went outside.

Outside Goku met up with Krillin and Gohon. 

"Man that was close!" Goku said, "Chi Chi would have killed me if she caught me talking to Bulma about her whining."

Krillin and Gohon just laughed.

"It looks like Vegeta and Bulma are fighting again. Gosh those two never get along. If it wasn't for Bulma being pregnant she probably would have kicked him out by now. It's strange how two people who almost absolutely hate each other can have children together." Krillin said.

"Dad," Gohon said, "Was mom like that to you when I was born?"

"Well, kinda" Goku said.

"Come on Goku! Chi Chi was always screaming at you for one reason or another." Krillin joked.

They all laughed.

Meanwhile in the gravity room Vegeta was thinking to himself.

~ "That Woman can be so annoying! She's always riding my ass for some reason. She has such an annoying voice when she's mad!"~ He thought, blasting at the targets in the room.~ "If it weren't for my son I would leave right now. I really wouldn't care if I ever saw that annoying bitch ever again!"~ He thought, but he knew that wasn't true. Over time Vegeta and Bulma had grown closer. But both of them were to embarrassed to show it. Deep down inside Vegeta really cared about her, but he would never let anyone know that the mighty Prince of the Saiyins actually cared for anybody.

Bulma and Chi Chi were at the table talking when they heard a loud BOOM.

"Oh No! What was that?!" Chi Chi asked surprised by the noise.

"It's probably just the gravity room again," Bulma said calmly, "Vegeta's always ruining it." Bulma got up and went outside to the gravity room. It was blown to smithereens. 

Goku, Gohon and Krillin had also heard the noise and flew over to see what was up.

When Goku saw the rubble that used to be the gravity room he said, "Wow! Was Vegeta in there?"

"Yeah" said Bulma still pretty calmly. "I'm going to chew his butt for this one! He's always blowing this machine up." She walked over to the rubble. Vegeta crawled out. 

"I told you not to be so rough with it! Now look at what you've done! This is going to take forever to repair!" She yelled at Vegeta. Vegeta looked up, his face was bloody and bruised.

"Oh my! You're hurt Vegeta!" Bulma said in surprise.

"Just shut up Woman! I'm fine." Vegeta said wincing as he struggled to stand up. Goku walked over to help him but before he got there Vegeta collapsed and passed out. Bulma got on her knees and shook Vegeta. He didn't stir. She started crying. Goku ran up to them and picked him up.

"Quick! Take him to my medical room!" Bulma said, "He needs help."

Goku carried Vegeta to the room. He set him down on the bed. Bulma hooked him up to a machine that would monitor his health stats. She pulled out a needle for an IV. Goku gasped when he saw it and was thankful that it wasn't for him. 

After Bulma had put the needle in, Vegeta woke up.

"What? What happened? Why am I in bed?" He snapped.

"You almost got yourself killed Vegeta! Calm down" Goku said.

Vegeta tried to get up but a sudden jolt of pain in his back forced him down.

"Don't try to move Vegeta. Your leg is strained and your back is badly bruised." Bulma said.

"Shut up woman!" he said, "A little bruise never kept a Saiyin down!" He yelled.

Bulma put a drug in his IV and he fell asleep again.

"There, that ought to keep him calm for now." She said. "At least until I finish wrapping his leg."

The next morning Vegeta woke up early. He looked at little confused by his surroundings but then remembered what had happened the day before.

~ "Damn," He thought, "What a fool! I should have been able to handle that! I must be becoming a weakling!"~ His thoughts were interrupted when Goku walked in.

"What are you doing in here Kakarot?!" He said rudely to Goku.

"Just checking on you. You should be lucky that Bulma's so nice. She helped you a lot Vegeta." Goku said.

"Shut up you baka! I'm just fine! And I would've been fine even without her!" Vegeta said sitting up. He got up and looked at his leg. "Why do I have this stupid bandage? My leg's just fine!" He stood up and limped to the door.

"Where are you going Vegeta? You need to stay and recuperate."Goku said.

"Shut your pie hole Kakarot!' Vegeta answered and limped down the hall to the kitchen. 

When he reached the kitchen, Bulma said to him, "Vegeta! What are you doing out of  bed?"

"I'm doing as I please! I'm a prince I can do whatever I feel like!" He said rudely. He started taking the bandage off.

 "You need to leave that on until your leg heals Vegeta" Bulma said.

"Shut up Woman!" He snapped.

Goku and Gohon walked into the room.

"Hey just the two people I wanted to see" Bulma said.

"Uh-oh" Goku and Gohon said in unison.

"What is it Bulma?" Gohon asked.

"I need you two to keep an eye on Vegeta" She said, "Make sure that he keeps his bandage on."

"Oh joy" Goku said sarcastically.

"I don't need anybody to babysit me! Especially those two idiots!" Vegeta said. And with that he left the house and flew off somewhere.

"Don't worry Bulma, we'll find him" Gohon said. 

"Be careful!" Bulma yelled after them as they let to find Vegeta.

A short while later while they were flying Gohon said, "Man, is Vegeta pissed or what?! He seems really upset."

"That's why we have to be careful Gohon. Vegeta's really mad and we don't want to piss him off even more." Goku said.

Just then Goku sensed Vegeta's ki.

"He's over there." Goku said pointing to a big pile of rocks.

"Should we go down there Dad?" Gohon asked.

"No. Let's leave him be. He'll come back in a little while."

Then Goku started flying back towards Capsule Corp. Gohon followed him.

~Vegeta sat on a rock and thought, "I don't need those fools! Bulma should raise the child on her own! I never wanted the thing anyway!"~ Still thinking those thoughts Vegeta drifted into sleep. He had a nightmare. Bulma was sitting at home dinking around when two men burst in. They looked real powerful and carried big guns. 

"What is this?!" She asked frightened looking at the guns.

"Give us your money bitch or we'll kill you!" One of the two men said.

"I...I... I keep it in the bank, not here!" she said.

"Sure woman!" The bigger one said. "Now fork over the cash or say goodbye to the world!"

"Vegeta! Help!" Bulma cried, but nobody came.

Vegeta heard her from the gravity room and came running. He burst into the room.

"What the?" The man with the gun said.

"Shoot her now!" The other guy said.There was a loud ringing in the room as the man fired the gun.

"NO!!" Vegeta yelled jumping in the way. He was too late. The bullet struck Bulma in her heart.

"Vegeta!" She cried he she flew back from the impact. "Why?"

"AHHHH!" Vegeta yelled.

Vegeta woke up in a cold sweat. His heart was racing. He sprang up and remembered his hurt leg but the pain didn't faze him. He flew back to Capsule Corp. as fast as he could. He went to Bulma's window which had been left open. He looked at Bulma, laying there in her bed looking like an angel. Vegeta silently floated into the room and sat down next to Bulma making sure not to wake her. He stroked her face lightly with his hand. She stirred a little and opened her eyes to look up at him. 

"Shh," He said, "Go back to sleep, honey." Bulma smiled and drifted back to her peaceful slumber.

~ "Stupid dream!" He thought, "I wouldn't want to lose my Bulma"~ With that he lay down and went to sleep.

"Come on Vegeta! I know you wanna play. Get out here!" Bulma yelled to Vegeta during a baseball game with the whole gang.

"No!" was the only answer Vegeta gave as he sat down on a bench just outside Capsule Corp.~ "Bulma sure is hot" He thought to himself, "Even when she's big and pregnant." Then his thoughts turned to her safety. "Should she be playing like that so close to her due date? She only has two weeks to go. I don't like it."~

Goku was up to bat. Yamcha pitched. Goku fired a kamehameha at the ball and sent it sailing really far. Vegeta got distracted from his thoughts as he looked up and saw the ball go whizzing by. "No fair hitting it with a kamehameha Goku!" Yamcha said. Vegeta jumped up off the bench and took off after the ball. He caught up to it easily and brought it back. 

"You're out Kakarot!" he said. Bulma smiled at him. He wanted to show off in front of everybody as normal.

"Now let me bat!" He said, "I'll hit it around the Earth." 

"Ok." Yamcha said and prepared to pitch to him. Just before he swung Bulma screamed.

"EEEK!! Yow!! I think the baby's coming!!" She said.

"WHAT?!" They all said in unison.

"Right now?!" Vegeta said. "But you're not due for another two weeks."

"I know that but I don't think he does!" She said. 

"Oh Kame!" Vegeta said worried. He ran to Bulma and picked her up. "Well hurry!" He said turning to everyone, "We need to get her to the hospital!"

"But the closes one is two hours away!" Chi Chi said, "She needs medical attention sooner that that!"

"Uh... Well... I'll take her then!" Vegeta said.

"What, but how" Bulma said in between the sudden the bursts of pain running up and down her spin.

"I can fly faster than any car!" Vegeta said, "Meet us there ok?!" He didn't wait for an answer before he took off. In the air Vegeta had a real worried look on his face. Bulma saw it and realized that he really cared for her deeply. She cared for him too. A sudden jolt of pain surged through her body from head to toe.

"AHHH!" She screamed. Vegeta looked at her with a seriously worried look and then increased his speed. He could now see the huge hospital and he slowed down to go inside.

"Hey! My wife's having a baby! I need help quick." He yelled to the receptionist.

"Ok sir, I'll have someone here on the double!" she said nervously.

"Make it snappy woman!!" He yelled.

"OK SIR!" she said back and she paged somebody.

Bulma looked up and she remembered that Vegeta had called her his wife.

~ "How touching, he's never actually called me that before."~ She thought before another jolt of pain surged through her.

Finally a doctor came with a couple of nurses and a hospital bed. Vegeta carefully set Bulma down on the bed and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead. The doctors took her off to the delivery room. Vegeta watched her and then went to the water fountain and splashed some water on his face. Vegeta walked in the direction that the doctors had taken Bulma. It didn't take him long to figure out where she was. He could hear her high pitched screams coming from one of the rooms. He went in there and saw Bulma laying on a bed with two of the hospital's nurses acting as her birthing coaches. 

Bulma turned to him and screamed, " I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! Why did you do this to me you asshole?!" 

One of the free nurses turned to him and said, "I assume that you're the father? Well don't worry about the names, this is normal."

The others arrived at the hospital and asked the receptionist where Bulma Briefs was.

She said, "Oh the woman who came in with her excited husband? She's in room 269."

"Thanks" they said and hurried off to the room.

When they reached the room, Bulma had Vegeta by the hair and was screaming at him. She would curse and bang his head against the bed railing like he was a rag doll. Vegeta looked very tired and weary. When Bulma saw them she calmed down a little bit.

"Hey guys didn't hear you come in." She said losing her death grip on Vegeta who just slid to the floor and sat there for awhile. Then she got mad again, "What took you guys so long?! I've been here for a least three hours waiting for you!" " AHHH!" she screamed as she gave a big push.

Chi Chi ran over to her and held her hand. Bulma pushed, screamed and cursed to Vegeta (who was still on the floor) for about half an hour. Then finally Chi Chi said, "That's it Bulma, a little more!" 

"More!? How can I give more? AHHH!" She pushed one last time. Then she heard a small crying baby. She looked up as the nurses cleaned him. Then the nurse gave him to Bulma.

"How ... how.. remarkable" was all she could manage to say.

Goku went over to Vegeta and helped him up. He was still dizzy and his vision was a bit blurry but he managed to say, "Damn Woman, he's more ugly than you." Bulma smiled knowing that he meant the opposite of what he said. Then Vegeta passed out again thanks to that long beating from Bulma. Goku sat him down in a chair. 

Then Goku asked, "What's his name?"

"Trunks" Bulma said.Everybody gathered around to see him. 

"Wow! Was I purple when I was born mom?" Gohon asked. Chi Chi just glared at him so he shut up. Bulma suddenly felt exhausted after all that and said, "Well, I'm pretty tired. I think I'll talk Vegeta's idea and get some sleep."

The nurse took Trunks away and laid him in a little bed next to Bulma's.

A week later Bulma, Vegeta, and their new son where at home. Goku Chi Chi and Gohon were also there admiring the new child. 

Vegeta rubbed his still bruised head and asked Goku, "Kakarot, did the birth of Gohon leave you so bruised?"

Goku laughed, "Oh, you mean how she was taking her pain out on your head? Yeah that's pretty standard in child birth." 

Trunks opened his eyes and stared up at his mother. He cooed softly and fell asleep again.

"He's so adorable!" Bulma said, "Don't you guys thinks so?"

"Whatever Woman" Vegeta said returning to his normal character. Bulma thought that Vegeta had changed last week. She guessed that she was wrong.

 ~ "Well," She thought, "Nothing can last forever."~

But Vegeta had changed, he loved her more than his words could express. He just didn't show it. 

"I love you Bulma." He whispered just loud enough for her to hear.
