Can you believe started 12 days ago and extended was an event so big that it extended into 2 months. This was the last day of this event and while I could not get to the park 12 days in a row I did get to it 9 out of 12. Last night I missed Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Tooooooooooosday because when I left my home at 6:00 p.m. and went outside in the heat I felt nauscious probably from the heat so I stayed at my air conditioned home so that I would be able to play. Source say that you packed the park last night and that at some point during the day the temperature reached 103 degrees and that is not with the heat index. I therefore missed the opportunity to play one of my favorite games "LET'S PRETEND THE DAY DIDN'T END" and now there are only 2 chances left to play as only 2 Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooosdays remain August 11 and August 15 and then for 2006 they will be done.
During I didn't get to see Kristen at the front gate enough but at least I got to see her what a beautiful young lady and how I admire her so and so wish to buy her lunch or dinner but at last I am a sad lonely guy waiting to die and as the season speeds to its end I wonder if I will ever see her again here's hoping. In the summer I play to get through the day and today it was 9:53 and 87 degrees when I returned to Deep River Waterpark after 2 long days away. I started off slow at the storm went on each slide once there were 3 slides 2 slide attendants I don't like that. I then was able to sneak in my favorite ride whitewater. Brittany was early for work I believe she got there at 9:30 and was scheduled for 5:30 and she did not escape because they said they would find someone to work for her at 5:30 but there are only like 6 slide attendants left ok maybe really 20 but these days they are pretty scarce so that would be difficult but at least I got to ride whitewater and I even rode it twice. I like that.
I took "THE HIKE" over to the action river and then I rode a tube over to the red bowl slide and the stair count slowly went to 354 and then I went around the river and the water in every attraction today was kind of warm. The only cool water was coming from the effects probably because it had not been heated for the sun. I then went over to the dragon and the very same lifeguard that was at the bottom on Saturday and Sunday was there again today. She did not think that I would ride today because of the line. This however was a weekday and the good thing about weekdays is all you have to look out for after the initial opening is buses and not to many were coming today. The park does not continue to fill up like on Saturday and Sunday when people just keep coming in. Basically you have a group at 10 a.m. and thats the group that will be there and then you get a few straglers. Plus the line looked longer because the slide attendant made everyone wait at the stairs instead of allowing us on the platform. I rode the slide 5x. I got straight 3x and curved 2x there was seldom a line for the steep slide.
I then went to the storm and picked up my pattern where I left off going on cyclone abyss vortex but then I was back to the abyss which I rode alot today. Every once in awhile I go the cyclone in. It is my favorite storm slide. I rode the storm 15x in a row pushing the count up to 1,784 stairs climbed and then I took "THE HIKE" over to the bowl slide. The yellow line was just below the second flight of stairs so it took a bit but I was in no hurry today. I went down the slide and then around the action river 2x. I then returned to the storm and rode the abyss and every once in a while got in the cyclone. I intended the cyclone to be "THE LAST RIDE" with the stair count at 2,050 for the day but it was still easy to get a tube so I could not stop myself and proceeded to go on the abyss 5 times. Remember the slide attendant that I had on Sunday at the top of the abyss and she got the "LAST RIDE" as she is pretty nice although I don't talk to her and she just sticks to the script. "hold on the handles and enjoy your ride" well for the second time in a row she gets "THE LAST RIDE" AND the stair count goes to 2,370 putting the count for the seaon 75,030 leaving 24,970 to climb to reach 100,000 stairs back to back for the first time ever.
However, August has proven very tough to climb in the past. The park will only be fully in operation for 24 more days. It will be open 29 more total days but during 5 of those day August 21-25 all the rides and attractions won't be open at the same time and that last year was just sad so I don't know if I'll make it to that. I certainly won't make it 24 more times this season so we will have to see. It was 2:04 and 92 degrees when I left the park. Time is running out on me to reach the 100,000 stair goal and time is running out on you too to see Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark during the summer of 2006 so drop what you are doing and come on out right now. I'll see you there.
Last night I just barely made it to a grocery store where I live where they were selling sundaes for a $1.00 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. I don't know if it was much of a sundae so much as some vanilla icecream thrown in a bowl. However it was great because it was done by my 2006 Valentine "The Enchanting Nicole" and her hair was all curly and she is so pretty and currently she is the favorite to repeat in 2007 but lately Kristen from group sales has been making a charge to win and only one Deep River Waterpark Employee ever "The Totally Terrific Tina" has won my Valentine but at least that is still off in the distance. However I am running out of time this season to climb 100,000 stairs my estimates say that after today I may have 10-13 days left this season but you never know how the end will go because it is often sad because where did everyone go?
Today I started at the dragon at the top was Stephen do you think he should be your 2006 Male Lifeguard of the Year? I know his name and today it was just like old times as there was a lifeguard at the top of the dragon and one at the bottom but I don't believe he was up there by choice. He informed me that when they started out today they had 3 yes count them 1 2 3 slide attendants in the entire park and we thought last week with 6 to start was bad. There use to be these books Where's Waldo and thats how it would be today to find a slide attendant before 11 a.m. How many times would I go up the dragon today? It was either A. until the line got to long or B. Until I got tired. If you chose B you are mistaken it was A and I was able to alternate slides riding the dragon a total of 14x in a row. I don't think I am going to get the chance to do "THE SHOW" every hour on the hour like I had hoped this year. I have not had a chance to attempt it and unless there is some cool day it might just be to late. Note to self schedule for earlier in 2007. "THE SHOW" is when I go down the dragon 8 or more times in a row. As the season draws to its end I do it more often trying desperately to get to 100,000 stairs. 14x on the dragon = 1,316 stairs climbed.
I next went to the storm. I saw that CHAOS AT THE CAGE was starting to form. I rode my favorite storm slide the cyclone and by the time I got down "CHAOS AT THE CAGE" was in full form so I wanted to get away from that. I think they even ran out of maintenance workers as slide attendants and now were using food and beverage workers. I wonder if these folks know what is going to happen to them before they come in. The stair count was 1,380. They said there would be cameras in the park today I sure hope they don't FILM "CHAOS AT THE CAGE" because I am hardcore Deep River Waterpark and say great things about it but I don't like that. I next was able to get in on my favorite slide of them all whitewater.
I rode whitewater 5x in a row today and it was great. On the last time this girl behind me was asking if I have ever been to the park before because she has been every there every year and I should go over and try those bowl slides way over there. I just like to listen. I know this is only time #41 I have been to the park this season. Hopefully I'll get up to more than 50 times this year but we will see there are not that many opportunities left for me or you which is why you have to plan on coming out to Deep River Waterpark right now. It can not wait. The stair count went to 1,600 for 20 slides I rode today it makes 76,630 for the season and puts me 23,370 away from 100,000 stairs. Can I make that? It does not look good if the crowds form like they did today. Tonight I lectored at St. Maria Goretti so I can be back tomorrow at 10 a.m. and normally Sunday is a late arriving crowd so how many times can I ride the dragon tomorrow? We will see. Come on out to Deep River Waterpark before the 2006 slides on by. I'll see you there.
Today I arrived at Deep River Waterpark right around the time it opened. I don't know how many more times I have to read on the Marquee that the Deep River Grinders play the House of David on July 16 as that seems to be getting rather old but I see it nearly everyday. This was only my 42 time this season to play and at the begining it looked as if it might rain. Today how long would I ride the dragon we would see and can you believe I could not outlast the lifeguard? I rode for nearly an hour and a half. I was able to make it from slide attendant Melanie to Slide Attendant Brittney as I rode the slides 25x in a row. That is the very rarely seen "THE SHOW" BACK TO BACK TO BACK every once in a while I break that out. I tried to convince Melanie she did not need a towel this early in the day but she liked having it and was comfortable in the chair up there. It is a good chair way up there. The stair count went to 2,350.
Sometimes you just can't stop riding the slides and I went over the storm and today there were 3 maintenance people at the top as long as they have one person to a slide it isn't that bad. At least there was no "CHAOS AT THE CAGE" today because that girl was really working hard down there and everytime I have seen her there she has managed to get everything under control and people like that. I rode the abyss 5x in a row making the stair count 2,670 and then I took a break and walked around the park. I was so close to 3,000 stairs I had to make it today and at the bottom of the abyss was the lifeguard with extremely beautiful blonde hair that sort of just glistens in the sun. Today it was in a ponytail and you know I love ponytails but she normally has it down and I even like that. Often times I feel like whistling. I put her up for Mark T's coveted best hair award against the girl at the gate that I have a crush on Kristen. However I did not know her name and I found myself to nervous to ask. I did finally ask and learned her name is Jennifer and doesn't everyone know that is i my favorite girls name now do you think she will win or will Kristen defend? Jennifer will be in the picture for this award that is for sure.
I rode the abyss 4 times pushing the count up to 2,926 so if I rode the dragon I could go up over 3,000 stairs so that is where I went for the 26th time today and Brittney was still there. I rode the steep slide first and the count went to 3,020. I told the lifeguard at the bottom that I wanted him to stand on that curved slide like I had watched him doing and then I was going to slide right underneath him. He did not do it :( Brittney said he had been doing it for a while he probably didn't want to get splashed by me. There was something I have never done before so that would have been fun to slide right under the lifeguard. I returned to the storm on the abyss I continued to ride at one time there were 6 maintenance people at the top of the storm versus the 4 slide attendants that were in the park at 10 a.m. today. The stair count went to 3,370.
I then took "THE HIKE" over to to the action river and the first time I went around I was hit in the head with tubes as they were being thrown back and forth by this rowdy group of people because there is no lifeguard at that chair and then I saw Lindsey and asked her if she wanted to dance and she seemed very confused and repeated the question and then said "Maybe Later" and then I proceed to be nearly hit in the head several more times as these tubes continued to fly through the air at least we got to the next lifeguard who said they should stop throwing the tubes and then there is this little area across from the island where sometimes a lifeguard sits but not these days and they climbed up the wall there and got out thank goodness. I then saw Rachel do you think she should be your 2006 Female Lifeguard of the year? I went around the action river 2x more and then it appeared to be raining. Rachel was going to the fair tonight and going to have an elephant ear. I have only had one all summer long and some cotton candy and ride the Ferris Wheel with Nick and I was hoping they were going to be making out on top of the ride but she said that wasn't going to happen.
I told Rachel I asked Lindsey if she wanted to dance and she said maybe later. Rachel wanted to know what kind of dance I do. I told her I don't dance come on the last time I danced I was at my sister's wedding and I spent half the night dancing with her and at one point I had to go and get a camera and before that I haven't danced since I was in 8th grade. I do feel like dancing when I see Lindsey but I am not going to so she should dance because it is fun to watch. I have seen her dance on a Tuesday night. I went with there was no music going on this side of the park so that is why she said maybe later. What was with the no music at the opening of the park today it was so quite as all the people were running in. I liked years ago when they played I don't want to work I just want to bang on my drum all day. I took "THE HIKE" with Rachel and we saw Chris how about this. Know who else I saw today James he was taking some pictures over by the dragon and you can see him on this site.
I decided that the action river should not be my last ride so one more time up the dragon and the stair count goes to 3,464 making the total for the year 80,094 and leaving me 19,906 stairs away from the 100,000 stair goal. Time it is flying by and I am running out of time as are you. There aren't always overcast days like this in August so I have to take advantage of them. Normally the sun shines and it is warm and thats the kind of day you want to come to Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course so come on out right now. Don't forget only 2 more days this season will the park be open late this Tuesday August 8 and next Tuesday August 15 open until 9:30 p.m. come after 5:00 p.m. and its the best deal this season you can enjoy the park for only $8.00 come at 5 come before 5 come on Tuesday or come on another day just make sure you come out before 2006 season is history. I'll see you there.
At 5:00 p.m. tonight you were able to get into Deep River Waterpark for only $8.00 the best deal in the park and if you did not make it tonight. You only have 1 more opportunity to take advantage of the best deal this season. It was around 5:30 or so when I returned after that one day away as once again unable to hook 5 in days in a row because of that elusive Monday. It was worth the wait as at the front gate I was able to see perhaps soon to be the back to back winner of the best hair in the park the girl I have a huge crush on who might just snare away my 2007 Valentine Kristen. I only have the one chance a day and soon even those chances will go away but each day as I come to the park I hope I will get to see her. You should never take anyones hope away because that may be all they have. I was going to ask her if she would like to go see Snakes on a Plane with me but then I thought of all the bad things that could happen as that movie opens August 18 and she may be gone by then and today her hair was curly. I like that but what if she thought I was comparing her hair to snakes that would not be good. It would be best just to savor the moment and know that tonight would be a great night.
It indeed would be a great night where classic characters appeared. It was like one of the good old days well somewhat anyway. I started at the storm went on vortex abyss cyclone cyclone abyss and then substituted my favorite storm slide the cyclone for the vortex. It put the stair count up to 384 for the night but tonight I would have all not to play so no hurry. I imagine it would be a night like this a bit on the cooler side a decent crowd on hand not large but there were lines not long just medium length that I would lose the 1,000 stair game that I have won every day for the past 4 years. I took "THE HIKE" over to the Action River and around I went I saw Emily she too likes to play "LET'S PRETEND THE DAY DIDN'T END" she had not seen me in awhile. It is amazing that happens and I just figure everyone was on vacation but she said that was a long time ago. With the park so large these days and I just primarily ride slides I don't see everyone.
I went around the river and then it was time for the easiest thing to do "RIVER TO RIVER" but I got distracted as Justine was not wearing those orange sunglasses she had new ones I believe they were from New York how about that? Then Rachel came along to that spot and we had 2 of the Contenders for your 2006 Female Lifeguard of the Year faceoff and it was Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Tooooooosday so how would I find both of them when Justine did not know where she was going? I continued on my way and went to the Lazy River and around I went and I saw Dustin who I have not seen that much this year but he works Tuesday through Thursday at 5:30 and the park closes to the public at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and I haven't made one Thursday this season. He is in season #12 only lifeguard that has remained out there. Now he has a full time job and his mother has some medical problems it is sad so he can't work on weekends but I tried to convince him that he is so close to 15 years that he can do it. We will see next year to get to season 13.
I continued around the river and saw today was not her last day that is Friday but it might have been the last time I ever see her see how the story worked out Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, if that boy is Mark T he can not get the girl and we went from last season to the return this season where I probably haven't even seen her more than 10 times this season but she created some of the best nights in the last 2 seasons. I then met a lifeguard who asked if I knew how to swim so I told her no just to see what the reaction would be and then she told me I should wear a lifejacket but it is 3 feet of water I could just stand up and for the record I can swim not very fast I swam since I was like 5 until I was a freshman in high school but I could beat very few people and I don't like to lose. Finally I made it back to Rachel she had not rotated to the Lazy river where I was looking for her. She told me that Justine was off on the island and she wanted cherry so I could get there if I hurry have like 15 minutes. I told Rachel that I wanted the chair next to her. It is a high chair I want to put in my breezway. I am willing to pay for it not retail because it is used but it will be fun for me to have. She said I should ask "The Sensational" Sasha if I could buy it I told Rachel to put a good word in for me.
Then I did a lot of walking to find out how to get to the island and I made it there before Justine left. She wanted to know if I remembered "The Totally Terrific Tina" how could I forget she was my 2003 Valentine only Deep River Waterpark person ever to win that award of course I could not remember the year. She was going to be a pharmacist and everytime I go into a Walgreens I wonder if we will be reunited. In my storyline she is married with children because that makes it easier than wondering what if she didn't get away as she was great. Her brother not Jimmy The Cuz who was in maintenance but another one is a lifeguard at the park and he was working at the wavepool and I could go over there and ask him what she is up too. Let's see I don't go to the wavepool and I am pretty sure that I am not going to just start asking someone are you "The Totally Terrific Tina's" brother and could you tell me what she is up too. Right below is what she looked like 5 years ago and she is sitting in that chair that I want. I like to take pictures of people sitting in that chair. I think somewhere there is a picture of me in the chair
I met Jen she is new this year her last day is tomorrow so I don't really know that I will see her around and then I took "THE HIKE" and I saw Justin with Joe Parker and Justin was not wearking a hat and we took a walk. I have not seen Justin that much this year so I have to rely on Amanda to tell me Justin stories where has he been. Joe wrote him up for not wearing a hat. I had a lot of distractions tonight but so much fun see I knew when I saw Kristen that it was going to be a great night. I went and rode each dragon slide once pushing the count up to 636 and the sun had gone down and then I went over to the abyss once I went up and evened the count at 700. I then took "THE HIKE" and went over to the red bowl slide. The line was just slightly pass the 2nd stair case and it went slow and I wondered if this was the end had I made a critical mistake in the game and would it just take all night to ride this one slide? It did not I got to the top and the count was 774. Next week is the last Tubin Tuesday where there will be lots of prizes and I believe I hear a remote control car. Now if they could get a recording from David Hasslohoff singing on Americas Got Talent that Car song it would be really good. I was going to ask if they could play the Mambo #5 for Joe and Justin walking through the park but that might be a little strange or the Tootsie Roll Song for me. Maybe next week you will hear all that. You have to come out and see though remember after 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2006 only $8.00 I think the DJ goes on around 6:30 limbo contest at 8:00 p.m.
I went on each slide of the dragon pushing the count to 962 and then I went to my favorite ride whitewater to get the win. The count went up to 1,006 it was dark the mosquitos were out. The slide attendant had off on but still they were attacking. They love water on cool nights. I got a few bites but continued on going on whitewater 6x in a row. It was great. The stair count went to 1226 and 81,320 for the year leaving me 18,680 stairs to reach 100,000 we will have to see if I make that as not even a month remains. I saw Justin and Ryan remember when Ryan worked over there in the hotdog and nacho ah those were some good times. There was a Chris sighting tonight as well but no James that was disappointing and then "The Sensational Sasha" I made sure there was a chocolate Tootsie Pop for her and one of the few other people to work at the park 12 years Brian and at the end of the night only 3 tootsie pops remained 1 chocoloate 2 orange so it was a busy night. I left the park at 9:03 p.m. with the temperture 71 degrees. I return tomorrow morning as we play "LET'S PRETEND THE DAY DIDN'T END" how long will I be away not that long. Remember only 1 more Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooooosday remains this year so make it a point to get to Deep River Waterpark next Tuesday August 15. If you can't make it then or even if you can come on out on some other days before Summer 2006 comes to its end. I'll see you there.
Thirteen hours and 2 minutes passed before I returned to Deep River Waterpark to play "LET'S PRETEND THE DAY DIDN'T END" and after today there will only be one more chance to play one of my favorite games. I took my own advice and as I tell you if you want to ride the bowl slides ride them early because the lines form quickly and boy I wasn't kidding was I today. I rode the red bowl slide followed by the yellow bowl slide and that did take some time as already the line was down one entire flight of stairs. I then took "THE HIKE" over to the dragon and rode each slide once. That was followed by the Vortex, Abyss where I stuck the landing and Rachel who is your 2006 Female lifeguard of the year saw the dismount. You can see (BEST LIFEGUARD AND SLIDE ATTENDANT THINGS ACCORDING TO YOUR HOST).Click on the Logo to see the 2006 Edition
I then went on the dragon just one time and today I found Emily who denies that she has ever climbed up a rope ladder and gotten on a helicopter to start a party. A helicopter did fly overhead and she was not carrying a bag and her hair was down so I imagine that she was just waiting for a party to break out. We proceeded from the dragon to where neither one of us knew where we were going. Emily's last day is next Thursday August 17, 2006 and this year I will not make it to the park one Thursday which is kind of sad. Maybe next year. I tried 2x once I was going to work 1/2 a day and that didn't work out and then at the end of July I was going to come to a buyout but that got rained out. Then this Thursday night I'll be in Elmhurst Illinois with my sister and my number 8 enemy at Tranzact John Vaci and we are going to see the movie John Tucker Must Die followed by dinner at Giordanos so I won't be able to get to the park. Next Thursday my assistant is moving her daughter into college so its going to be a long day for me. Emily normally has Wednesday off even though this was Wednesday and she will be at the park next Wendesday that might be the last time I ever see her as she is off to college to swim. However if I can make it to the park on Monday I might get to take a picture of her and her sister and people wold like to see that but Monday's have proven extremely tough for me to get to Deep River Waterpark.
Emily broke a cup apart that actually had ice it in and we agreed that Stephanie could not have anything in that cup so she is so obviously just fake drinking out of it. Emily may not be the party animal that we make her out to be as Joe Parker said he never partied with her. Apparently her mom is a good bowler but she isn't but if she names the time and the place my sister and I will be glad to defeat her and her mom just like we destroyed the Lindseys Last year. Remember they may have the same name but we've got game and I heard a rumor that the water safety staff was so upset by the loss that they didn't rehire your 2005 Female Lifeguard of the Year Lindsey IV.
Remember the other day when I tried to get that guy to stay on the dragon slide so I could slide right under him something I had never done in the history of the park Emily said she would do it when she got back to the dragon so up I went and the first time she did not know it was me so I told her where to stand on the 24 and then I would slide right under her but I would have to get the slide attendant to give her a signal so I went up to Ryan and had him make a T and point to the slide for me and down I went right through it was so great she did get a little bit wet and we had a high five. Then I wasn't aware we were doing this on the steep slide but she moved into position and I did not make it past her because you can't go as far on the steep slide so she would move up closer and then I made oh yeah and Emily got the splash from me and the guy on the curved slide. In all I put on the show riding the dragon 8x in a row. The stair count went to 1,374 making 82,694 for this season but leaving 17,306 to climb in limited time. Can I make it as the season comes flying to an end. Remember after this week there is only 1 more week with all the rides and attractions open at the same time. Then the next week is all the rides and attractions will be open but not at the same time and I probably won't make it to that week at all. The park will be open every weekend through labor day with all the rides and attractions. Pick a day pick a few and come out and see Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course. I'll see you there.
I'm Not here for a long time. I'm just here for a good time might be said about your host coming to Deep River Waterpark and for 44 times this season I have had a good time so I guess one out of 45 days of not having a good time is not so bad. I got to the park around 10 a.m. and today at the gate there was no Kristen so maybe the day wouldn't be great but what was there was Chaos right at the entrance as a mob of people were just clustered there and there wasn't a sole in that office so I flashed my pass at no one and then proceeded on my way into the park I was jostled while trying to get through the mob that was just there at the front with no organization whatsoever. After I made it through this absolute mess I went to the dragon to do "THE SHOW" where I go down the dragon at least 8x in a row. I normally don't ride the steep slide when I don't know the lifeguard because it bites and I don't like to get bit but today I did so on the second time I laid back quickly got bit and oh the pain on my back and then I hear it from the lifeguard he was an arrogant jerk who probably has never ridden that slide in his life and its been several years since we had a contender for the worst lifeguard ever which was Mark that lead guard from the early years but this guy would give him a challenge. At this point I should get to have a new lifeguard here is an idea how about one that doesn't have such an attitude problem of course there were only 19 people at the park so I guess they had to take anyone.
"THE SHOW" was brought to a screeching hault. I went over and rode the storm it was cyclone vortex and abyss and chaos started to form at the cage and please cover your childrens ears because you don't want to hear the things that were being said there. At least I don't. I did manage to sneak in my favorite ride of them all and in the middle of both the catch pool was Emily at least she didn't have to stand on that rock like they made them do in the past and then you wonder is the lifeguard going to fall off too. Her sister was going to be in at 1 p.m. but today I was having a horrible day so I did not know that I was going to make it that long as the park got busier and busier. I took "THE HIKE" over to the action river and went on the yellow bowl slide and then around the river I went I saw Justin he hadn't seen me since Tuesday. Today I got a lot of comments that people hadn't seen me in awhile that happens with the park being so big. I have been at the park a lot not enough in June but I can't ever get that back now. Maybe in 2007 there won't be a system crash or conversion at Tranzact and I can enjoy the summer as I wish. We should have taken Justin and moved him to the bottom of the dragon so didn't have to deal with that jerk over there.
After a lap around the river I went back on the yellow bowl slide the attendant that was there before moved pretty far from yellow to red bowl slide. I then went over to the storm and rode the cyclone 3x and the abyss once and chaos at the cage had gotten even worse but the stair count went to 1,016 and despite the troubles having today was able to win again as the count went to 1,016 and then I went and rode my favorite ride whitewater where the slide attendant seemed pretty nice. I had not seen her before but it was pleasant and that therefore would be good for "THE LAST RIDE" and down I went and when I got past the bridge chaos was forming right by whitewater as no tubes or attendant to be found so CHAOS at 3 places in one day. I got out of the park not a moment to soon and the Deep River Grinders are still playing July 16 House of David. The stair count went to 1060 and makes 83,754 for this season leving 16,246 left to climb this summer can I make it? We will see. YOu can make it to Deep River Waterpark this summer but you have to start making plans why nto come out now before it's to late? I'll see you there.
Tomorrow the final full week of operation starts for Deep River Waterpark. The next week you can get in for a very low price and all the rides and attractions will be open just not at the same time. Where did time go? I do not know and today it was around 3:45 p.m. when I returned to Deep River Waterpark. I took a walk to church this morning it is a mile each way. I stopped at the grocery store and got 2 bannanas as I like to have a bannana on Sunday and I even saw "The Enchanting Nicole" who has manage to remain the favorite to be Mark T's 2007 Valentine despite a huge push by the winner of the 2005 & 2006 Best Hair in the park award Kristen who has moved up substantially. At least it was a good day even before I got to the park as yesterday was absolutely terrible but it is a new day and only a limited time to play.
Today I would play old school as I walked over to the storm there were actually lines which was good as opposed to yesterdays Chaos I thought I heard my name and wow if only I had a camera you guys would be happy as I am The Cute One was walking with Rachel those are some fine looking young ladies. At last the camera was in the bag and not around my neck or in my hand but it was quite a sight to see. I thought I heard my name called and Rachel handed me a tube and the day began on the cyclone and in the old days the way to win 1000 stair game was to see if I could climb the abyss 16x in a row and if that looked like it wouldn't work I would look to the outlet of the dragon.
I immediately switched to the abyss and up and down I would go it was very nice with an attendant on duty and she was pretty good sometimes she was in the cage and sometimes she got out but everything kept moving and it was Jazzy who works again on Tuesday night as my first slide attendant and then she was replaced by Becky and I needed to get 9 more rides by 5:45 and it was after 4:30 and only had 7 in but up and down I continued to go just keep the line moving and I made it riding the abyss 15x in a row and with the 1 cyclone ride that made me a winner with 1,024 stairs climbed and there was time for "THE LAST RIDE" so I went on my favorite storm slide the cyclone making the count 1,088 and then I heard the announcement only 15 more minutes for the rides and attractions to be open so that is where the count would stay today putting me up to 84,842 stairs climbed but still leaving 15,158 more to go to reach the elusive back to back 100,000 stair seasons. Time is running out not only on me but also on you so make sure to come out to Deep River Waterpark. Don't Forget this Tuesday is the last Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Tooooooooooooooosday of 2006 and if you don't make it then you will have to wait until 2007. Admission is only $8.00 after 5 p.m. and at sometime I should be there but I have numerous scheduling conflicts as I am suppose to be in Glenwood Illinois at 6:00 p.m. for the Calumet Chapter of the IMA. It is the Feast of the Assumption so I should be in church that night but hopefully I'll find a catholic church on Monday night that I can get that obligation in thank God for Holyday Vigils. You to may be busy but that is you need to find the time now to come on out to Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course. I'll see you there.
This season Monday's have not been good to me. I have made it to Elmhurst Illinois by 5:30 a.m. so that I could enjoy Deep River Waterpark in the evening but not to be it has been the missing link as only 2x this season have I managed to link 5 days in a row and this is the last week that the park will be fully operational during the week. Remember next week Deep River Waterpark will be open but not all the rides and attractions will be open at the same time. It was 4:11 and 81 degrees when I finally returned. Rachel let me know that I was late but if you don't work somewhere you really can't be late. Today I went to do "THE SHOW" and so there would be no incidents I simply stayed on the curved slide and up and down I went. It does not normally bite like the steep slide does. However sometimes at the end you can get the seam of the slide on your back and that hurts. I was able to avoid that today. I went on the dragon 12x in a row making the stair count 1,128. There was seldom any line.
Today reminded me of the begining of the season where the crowd is sparse but there was a big difference at the begining everything is fully staffed and there is a buzz through out the air you can actually feel it. Today there was just silence for the few people there. I then went over to the storm and I rode each slide once followed by my favorite ride of the them all whitewater. Melanie was up there how about that and I even went on it twice making the stiar count 1,408 for the day and 86,250 for the year leaving 13,750 left to climb to reach 100,000 for the first back to back seasons ever. Don't forget tomorrow is the last Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooooosday of 2006. This is your last chance there will not be any more after tomorrow night to experience the park for a mere $8.00 after 5:00 p.m. so whatever you have to do forget it and get out to Deep River Waterpark. I'll see you there.
Ten weeks ago they began and each night a story did unfold. This season only one was left untold as I was at 9 out of 10. Some people say ten is the perfect number. I collect dimes I have a dime for every day that I have owned my home as I planned to give them to my wife as she would be perfect but at last I still am a sad lonely guy simply waiting to die and now I have 2,604 dimes and I think maybe I will just turn them in for the cash who knows. They use the number 10 to describe perfection and it was 6:07 p.m. and 84 degrees when I returned to the park to have my pass scanned by a perfect 10 cause you all know that I have a crush on Kristen at the front gate and I don't know after tonight it might be hard not to make her the number one contender to be my 2007 Valentine. Every day I see her is great and this was the second time this season she scanned my pass and boy did she look fantastic in that white shirt and even the shorts were out today and you know I am a hair and leg guy.
Once I read some where that if you can get someone to say Yes twice you can get them to say yes the third time easily. Remember I have that offer that I will buy Kristen lunch or dinner anytime of course she doesn't know that but it is a standing offer. Last week I was going to ask her if she would like to see Snakes on a Plane with me there is a preview showing Thursday night at 10 p.m. but then her hair was curly and maybe she didn't want to see that. So then I read just ask would you like to do something sometime but to get to that questinon first I would try to get the 2 answers of yes. I asked her if she wanted a tootsie pop as it was the last Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooosday of 2006 and she promptly responded NO and then this whole plan was shot and my heart still fluttered and I though I really like this girl she is so pretty and at least once a day I got to see her so just savor the moment. I just wish could see this beautiful girl more but at last we will or maybe just I will have nights like this that I can remember how beautiful she is. Long live the Kristen contingent.
I went in the park and I rode the dragon a guy and his son were going on the dragon 30x today now that is fun but they were sticking to the curved slide earlier they had gone down 18x in a row that is the Show Back to Back +2 I like that good wholesome fun with father and sun. I saw Emily that I hadn't seen in like 3 weeks. She was on vacation last week but she claims she was at the park the 2 weeks before that. It was good to see her and she wanted me to ride the slide 16x because that is her favorite number. Mine is 12 and I was on 12 and my sister that you have never seen this year was there she was not wearing a swimsuit. I hear she has been at the park 3 times this season including the only Tuesday night I did not make. The parents had sent her to find me because they could not and even though she hasn't been to the park she knew where to look. I told her I would go on the slide 4 more times and kept her informed and just cause I couldn't get Kristen to go with me didn't mean she wanted to go see Snakes on a Plane at 10 p.m. on Thursday night in fact she apparently wants to be sleeping then and realistically that is probably what I will be doing too. Even my assistant who will be taking her daughter to college on Thursday and Friday couldn't imagine me seeing a movie that late when I have to work far away the next day.
The parents brought my favorite turkey store honey turkey. Both my sisters were in the park tonight did you see them there because that is probably the last chance this season. One nephew Matthew T was on hand and my sister, parents all got cold and left it to me and he went over to the play area and we ran through water alot as my sister says he takes after Uncle Mark T that he doesn't get cold all that easily. We had fun watching the bucket but I could not answer where the buckets mommy was not a question I was prepared for and how he love for the 2 of us to just run through the water that was spraying but eventually he began to shiver and his lips turned blue so I could play all night but I thought it would be best to get him a towel and get warmed up and home they went while I strolled around the park.
It was a good night for the classics so I hopped in the old lazy river. I saw Justine who explained that she was doing the Hokey Pokey. My nephews like to do the Hokey Pokey they were doing it at the corn roast last Friday night and I was telling her about this incident I had at the front gate as I like this girl that works there and she said maybe she just didn't want a tootsie pop and it her response had nothing to do with her liking me so I really shouldn't be heart broken. I saw Your 2006 Female Rookie Lifeguard of the Year Emily she did a very entertaining impression of her first car which apparently was missing a spark plug. You mean I never gave her a tootsie pop on Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooooosday? What is with that well I'll remember for next year if she is back which she thinks she might be and I gave her a tootsie pop for Rachel but told her not to tell Rachel it was from me and then I told her I had to go find Emily and then confused ensued as she is Emily but this Emily said she would be at the storm at the end of the night.
I had won tonight at everyone's favorite game but now it was time to play everyone's favorite game Where's Emily? I went to the storm without aid of my glasses and as I looked at the storm I was pretty certain that was not Emily so I decided it was dark and getting late I am going to have to put the glasses on and scour the whole park so first I looked around the old part and I could not find Emily so I took "THE HIKE" and around that river I went on foot and I saw a lifeguard who asked if I had new glasses and I told her I don't even normally wear glasses so maybe that is what was different tonight. Her hair was blonde so I asked if it was darker before and she said indeed it was which was good because I was worried about these glasses. I finally found Emily and she told me it was all Justin's fault because he made her rotate clear over here. Now I had to go get the tootsie pop but what color and so eventually she said just bring her my favorite and we all know what that is. I also saw Dustin maybe for the last time this season and I gave him a green tootsie pop those are new this year. Dustin is in season #12 as a Lifeguard he has been there every single year and I keep trying to convince him to go to 15 years making it 2009 but first he needs to come back for season #13 and hope to see him in 2007 as I continue my quest to climb 1 million stairs at Deep River Waterpark.
I found Emily and gave her my favorite flavor tootsie pop told her about this girl with the blonde hair and how she wore before these awful looking round white glasses and she was at the bottom of yellow bowl slide and the consensus was her name might be Sydney and it is good that she lost or had those white glasses stolen because among the many things I don't like are white sunglasses and do everything to get those out of the park especially bigh white ones. The rides were now closing to time to go the stair count tonight the last night I'll be at Deep River Waterpark in 2006 was 1,504 pushing the count up to 87,754 leaving 12,246 left to climb to reach 100,000 but with tomorrow when I play one of my favorite games "LET'S PRETEND THE DAY DIDN'T END" for the last time this season and then only weekends and Labor Day left for Mark T do you think I will make it to that elusive goal. For you don't forget next week the park is still open and you can get in for a very low price and all the rides and attractions will be open just not at the same time. If you don't want to wait until then you have Wednesday August 16 Thursday August 17 and Friday August 18 when the park is open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and every weekend through Labor Day so make plans now as the season draws to an end. It was 9:27 p.m. and 69 degrees when I left the park I should be back in less than 13 hours to play for the last time this season "LET'S PRETEND THE DAY DIDN'T END" and I'll see you there.
Twelve hours and thirty-four minutes passed before I returned to Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course to play "LET'S PRETEND THE DAY DIDN'T END" for the very last time this season. I don't get to play this game all that much but when I do it sure is fun. This would mark the final weekday that I believe I will be at Deep River Waterpark unless you count Monday Labor Day as a weekday. Next week the park will be open but not all the rides at once but come on out and see what you can while you still can. It was with some sadness today as July came to its end we saw the staff thinning out and now very few people are left. At least I got a glimpse of Kristen at the front gate with clipboard in hand and just a little ponytail today. I began the day at the bowl slides as I tell you if you want to ride those do so early because the lines form very quickly. The first person I saw was your 2006 Male Slide attendant of the year Ryan he was at paddles last night so he had a better gig today.
I alternated riding the red bowl slide 3x and the yellow bowl slide 2x and then I went around the river and rode my favorite ride of them all. How about this your 2006 Female Slide Attendant of the Year Brittney was at the top of the slide the winners still there which is good to see. Brittney was leaving at 1:00 p.m. to go to the hospital because her grandfather was in an accident. I hope he will be ok and it sure was nice of her to come in today. In June I try to pad the number of stairs climbed to reach the goal by the end of the year. This year June was not kind to me. I find that the best time when the park is fully staffed the weather often is cool for some people so the crowds are not so big and up and down I will go but this year it was not to be. I will be at the park around the same number of times as last year but more of the later dates when much of the staff is long gone and something is missing. It also makes it harder to face Labor Day when knowing the next day for over 200 days I won't be at Deep River Waterpark.
Sometimes I play this game outlast the lifeguard where I see if I can outlast the lifeguard for as long as they are at the stand and sometimes these days it is tough but today I was at the storm I outlasted your 2006 Female Lifeguard of the Year Rachel who was at the wave pool last night so I did not see her but at least today. I outlasted Justin. I outlasted that maintenance guy that was only up there for 30 minutes that is what he said when he started then over an hour later he got relived. I outlasted "The Sensational Sasha" who had a lot of keys and was at the cyclone pushing people down. I think that is the first time all year she pushed me down a slide. I watched 1 lifeguard become 2 and then 2 become 1. I climbed mainly the abyss and cyclone but sometimes the line was shortest at the vortex so I went on that. I saw several slide attendants come and go maybe all of them that were in the park today but I'm not sure. At the end I climbed the storm 48x in a row adding 3,072 stairs to the 414 previously climbed and that made the count for the day 3,486 pushing me up to 91,240 and I stopped there because I wanted to get back to an even number and I have to stop some time. There now are 8,760 stairs left to climb to reach the elusive 100,000 stair goal. My schedule says I should have 5-7 days left to play so I think unless weather and crowd prohibit I should be able to make it. I don't want to get to far ahead but ned to get in position for 2008 when it is one man one park one million stairs but if I can't make it to that mark in 2008 there still will be 2009 which will mark 15 seasons and that is what I am trying to get Dustin to commit too.
Tomorrow through Sunday the park will be fully operational. On Monday it will still be open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily and you can get in for a very low price. Then every weekend including labor day it will be open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and most of the days I'll be there. Time is flying fast and while I might never get a date with Kristen at the front gate you can make sure you get out to Deep River Waterpark in 2006 by coming out today. I'll see you there.
Today I returned to Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course for the 50th time this season and normally I would say that if I get to the park 50 times in one season that is pretty good. However something happened in June of this year leading me to miss my very favorite time and this season went by in what seemed quicker than a blink of an eye. Today it was 10:51 a.m. and 76 degrees when I arrived just ahead of 7 buses that were pulling into the lot. It was overcast but somewhat humid very odd weather today. It would be a great day as standing ready at the front gate was that girl I have a huge monstrous crush on Kristen in fact mark the date August 19, 2006 that she has worked all the way up to be the number one contender for Contender's for Mark T's 2007 Valentine. She was even wearing shorts today highlighting what great legs she has. Remember how I was going to ask her to see Snakes on a Plane with me but I was worried that she might not be around? I did see Snakes on a Plane Friday night and I really enjoyed it although maybe it was suppose to be scary. To me it was very entertaining and I recommend you see it. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to have Kristen with me but I was in Elmhurst IL watching the movie.
At the front gate today as a bag checker was "THE SENSATIONAL SASHA" and I asked her if she wanted to check my bag and today she did. You would think after 50 times I could get a preferred card to get through without that but it does entertain me and today I noticed I could not help but staring at Kristen how gorgeous she is and I know because my vision is corrected to 20/20 with these glasses I wear and I could just feel my heart fluttering and eventually unfortnately the bag was given back and on my way into the park I would go. This seasont he lines for the bowls slides have formed even quicker than last year but today not so bad. I saw Emily at Action river 5 and 6 so she had a chair in the middle and what kind of reminded of me I seldom cross to the south side of 30 as I live North of 30 the waterpark is on the south side of 30 and this is about the only time I am south but a lot but on the south side of the action river for awhile you would not find a single lifeguard. I waited until one cam to that side before going around the river.
I rode the red bowl slide 10x there was never a day this season when I could get that in like 50x like last year but 10 is pretty good but then the line got to long and around the river I would go before going over to the storm where I rode vortex, abyss, cyclone, cyclone and abyss making the stair count 1,060 and making my record this season in the 1000 stair game 50-0 but I would not stop there. I took a walk around the park I saw James decked out in Purdue gear. I like that. When I imagine winning this game I think 50 days 100,000 stairs but this year that won't be happening but luckily I have more than 50 days to play this year. I went to the dragon and I rode the curved slide 13x and once I had the steep slide when the curved slide seemed to long. Becky said I missed the frenzy and I was glad of that I think I saw it when I was over at the storm and I wait for it to die down because not many people can walk up the dragon slide down and keep going back up like I can. Many people came up the stairs and some they took the stairs back down. It is amazing to see the diversity of folks that appear to be afraid of this slide and I always am interested when people ask me if I have ridden it today I just went with More than any person alive. The stair count went to 2,376 and the line got long now as the sun started to come out.
The weather was very strange today there was wind and overcast with humidity when I cam it got dark it go bright sometimes windy sometimes not. I went to my favorite ride whitewater but before I could ride whitewater I would have to find a tube and with no attendants for nearly every day this month tubes can be anywhere in the park it makes you appreciate when we have attendants and every once in awhile we get lucky and they will put one out there. I did eventually find a blue tube and up the stairs I went. I saw Brittney who was happy and sad the season nearly over but she said that she would see me next year and if she is back I'll see her there because I still have 1 MAN 1 PARK 1 MILLION STAIRS. Will it be in 2008 or will I need some of 2009? I don't even know. I hope she goes back but most of al I hope Kristen comes back now I hope and pray for that. If there is one person I could see every day or at least more frequently it would be her. Today whitewater would be my "LAST RIDE" will it be "THE LAST RIDE" of 2006 or will I leave with "THE SHOW?" not even I know.
The stair count went to 2,420 for the day making 93,660 climbed this season leaving 6,340 left to climb with only 11 days left of park operation in 2006. As I left the park they were putting up some canopies or something at the entrance. First I tried to get out this gate at the front where they had this big sign stating THIS IS AN EXIT but the gate was locked. I remember when the sign said THIS IS NOT AN EXIT ah see I was getting greedy as I hoped to see Kristen for what could be the last time ever but no such luck as that exit was blocked just like my mind blocks me from ever asking her to dinner. It was 1:39 and 79 degrees when I left the park. Good to see that the Deep River Grinders are playing the Oregon IL to team tomorrow at 2:00 I sure was getting tired of seeing House of David July 16 at 2:00 p.m. Remember Deep River Waterpark has 11 days left to operate in 2006 5 of those days Monday-Friday next week you can get in for really cheap as not all the rides and attractions will be open at once. However if you want to see the park at full operations you have 6 more chances so make plans and come on out tomorrow, next weekend and or Labor Day weekend including Monday September 4, 2006 Labor Day before you miss 2006. The park wil be open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. I'll see you there.
It was slightly before 3:00 p.m. when I returned to Deep River Waterpark and it was rather breezy. Last year before summer ended I had lost 47 lbs but I could never make it to 50 but because of that I have lost some of my cold tolerance and I have never had much of a wind tolerance. I could always take cold but not the wind. Today would therefore even for me Mark T. not be the best day to play. However, after today there are only 10 more days of operation in 2006 for Deep River Waterpark. The next 5 days the park will be open just not all the rides and attractions at once and then they will all be open at the same time on the weekend. However, I don't know if I will make it next Sunday as I will be at Mass on The Grass at the Church I attend at noon which is then followed by a picnic. It seems that if all goes well I will have 4 more days left this summer to enjoy Deep River Waterpark.
Some people keep their most exquisite, beautiful, and valuable possessions on disply behind glass as you can admire these items. Often this is how I feel about the girl I have a huge crush on at the front gate as she is hidden like a beautiful treasure behind the glass well actually there isn't glass there but you get point. Today however she was sitting outside the gate at a table on a folding chair. Lucky for me it wasn't that High chair that I want to get from the park or I probably would have been awe-struck by her had a heart attack and died. Nevertheless you could knock me over with a feather as she said "Hi Mark T" and "How are you?" I am a man of few words and all could feel was my heart fluttering as I managed to get out I'm great. What could be better than this see if I was a smooth operator I could have asked to take her picture as I have this camera in the bag with like 20 shots to take and then it would not be so sad that the season end because I could put her picture up on my desk and hope and pray that I would see this beautiful girl again. In fact I would deem her clockworthy. Currently no pictures sit upon my desk but oh to have one of Kristen.
I did make it into the park where I rode the storm going in the revers of the classic pattern so it was cyclone, abyss, vortex, vortex, abyss, cyclone, cyclone, abyss, vortex and vortex. Melanie said we were going to have a party up there at 4:30 p.m. and she had invited some people and there would be limbo and she had brought some pretzels. I love Rold Gold Pretzels. However she got rotated as that slide attendant would not skip her but she said she wasn't trying to cancel the party she didn't know about any party and she just didn't want to go back to paddles which was understandable and since Melanie would not be back the party was canceled :( I then went over to the Dragon and today I put on "THE SHOW" riding the curved slide 7x and then the steep slide once. The slide attendant is her name Christina? I think so but not 100% sure and I see her a lot these days. She might hook up with Ralph even though she claims they were just friends. Today she was wearing a dew rag with very short white shorts. Hmm I like that. The stair count went to 1,392 and for time 51 this season I had won the 1,000 stair game.
I then took a stoll around the park to see that I probably couldn't give you the name of one lifeguard on duty today but a few were there. I then went up to my favorite ride whitewater and I rode that 2x making the stair count 1,480 for the day and pushing it to 95,140 for the season leaving 4,860 to reach the elusive back to back 100,000 stair climbed. Do you think I am going to make it with probably only 4 days to play? I think so but you never know. What I do know is you are running out of time in 206 to experience Deep River Waterpark so make plans now as you only have 10 days left this season so come out while you still can. I'll see you there.
5 days passed by before I returned to Deep River Waterpark it is the longest I have been away all season previously 4 days away at the begining May 30-June 2 and then 3 days in June 8-10 and then 3 days in July 5-7. This week there was no Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Tooooooooooooooooosday. I went to work on Wendesday so wasn't at the park then but it was actually open whereas next week the park will not be open at all so I was experiencing withdrawl. This week I might not even be able to make it on Sunday we will have to see maybe the afternoon will be good to me. Today it was 10:21 and 80 degrees when I finally returned. The sky was overcast and parking was ample.
My pass was actually scanned but I was sad that I did not see Kristen today at the front gate I wonder if she has gone away for good or will one day we be reunited and it will feel so good? My bag was checked and in to the park I went and the first person told me we sure picked a bad day to come but have to play with the cards you are dealt. I told him if you didn't come today you only had 4 more days left so it is good that you came. I began the day at the dragon. It has been awhile since I have done "THE SHOW" which is riding the dragon 8x in a row and today "THE SHOW" would have a tragic ending and we have to go to the judges on whether this counts as "THE SHOW" I climbed up the stairs and rode the curved slide of the dragon 7x in a row. I then climbed up for time #8 and the slide attendant I believe her name is Jenny said that girl is not getting up what is going on down there. The girl did not get up and then you heard the double whistle blasts and water safety personnel came running. We then had to walk down the stairs of the dragon and I don't have a good record walking down stairs which could have crushed my dreams of being a slide attendant.
My record includes falling down a flight of whitewater and fracturing my wrist and then the last time years ago it was a windy day and a chair flew up and hit me. If possible I'll take the slide down as it is safer for me. I did make it to the bottom the rope was pulled to shut the dragon and I am counting the 94 stairs down so that is like 9 times but only rode the slide 7x. I do not know what happened as I saw nothing since I was sitting waiting for my turn and I am not an ambulance chaser. Some people like to see injury they stop and look they call that gapers delay on the highway. I do not. I wish everyone the best and once the ride reopened just flag me down and I'd happily ride it to show you it is safe. After all there is no one that has ridden the dragon as many times as I have unless you can prove otherwise.
This had me a bit discombobulated but I managed to take the hike. I rode the yellow bowl slide once and the red bowl slide 2x the stair count went to 1,068. The stairs up to the red bowl slide could really use a scrubbing down it reminded me of a store that says if this bathroom needs attention please let management know immediately. I then went around the action river. I saw Alicia remember her she is Emily's sister that I never actually see because she is at wave pool usually but today they did not put her there and she claimed to be excited to see me. I felt sorry for her that this would be a highlight of her day. I mean seeing her was a highlight in my day but I have a very dull life which soon will get really dull once the park closes.
Alicia did not think that Emily was the party animal that I believe her to be. Perhaps Emily has a different personality or something and Alicia was absolutely certain that her sister Emily had never climbed up a rope ladder to get on a helicopter to party. I next saw Emily but not that Emily are you with me and she of course had not seen me in awhile and she really liked that chair in fact today she would not even move from it. There was a book there but she claimed that belonged to Justin and when I went around again a styrofoam cup was floating ahead of me so now I am floating with garbage come on where have all the maintenance folks gone? Justin said dragon would reopen in 15 minutes or so and he could call maintenance. The dragon did not reopen while I was at the park but next time I am there and it is open I will ride it once again. I'll even do "THE SHOW"
I then went on my favorite ride of them all whitewater which I rode 3 times and then another highlight of today Justine waved from bottom of body as I exited whitewater. The stair count went up to 1,200 and then I went over to the storm and they had 2 people up there and for the first time in like 2 years I believe it was i had to push myself 2 out of 5 times. I have always said that at least slide attendants did push me down every single time. There wasn't a slide attendant up on any of these slides so you ask the replacements to do more work than even the slide attendants did. It was busy at the storm so it was a slow go. The stair count went to 1,520 and then I took the "HIKE" and I rode the red bowl slide 5x in a row and put the stair count to 1,890 for the day and 97,030 for the seaon leaving only 2,970 left climb and I have 3 or 4 more days left to reach 100,000.
As I was leaving I saw Alicia who let me know the day was just starting and for her it was but for me with the rain and grey plus I had to lector at 4:00 tonight so that shortens the day. Plus where was Alica if she was at the bottom of a slide then it would be nice to see a friendly face but at last it was 12:47 when I exited the park and the temperature was 77 degrees and it appeared to be raining. Remember there are only 4 more days left this season. Tomorrow 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and then next weekend Saturday Sunday and Monday Deep River Waterpark will be open from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day. You better come on out now. Here you can even save $3.00 on admission by printing out a coupon at Deep River Waterpark Coupons Come on out before 2006 passes you by. I'll see you there.
It was around 10:30 or so when I returned to Deep River Waterpark after the longest absence of the season 6 days. Of course the park was closed for 5 of them so really only 1 day while it was open. Withdrawal has set in but on Monday which is the last day this season there will be 263 days that I will be forced to spend away and you will too which is why you need to come out to deep River Waterpark on one of these final 2 days. It was a beautiful day witht he sun shining and the temperature in the low 70s. There was no better cure for the withdrawl blues then to see the absolutely stunning Kristen who is the number 1 contender to be Mark T's 2007 Valentine can she hang on for 165 more days when my favorite holiday comes around? Today I would have asked her to dinner right? Except for the following things #1 she was on the phone but boy was I so happy and elated to see her as I though I would never see her again after 2 weeks ago. You have to savor moments like these. You know its tough being Mark T my life is not easy. However when moments like this come around life is worth living.
Plus number 2 she was being guarded at least in my paranoid mind by a security office who may have been armed and then things could have gone oh so bad at least they did in my mind and in my lifetime when girls have been involved its gone bad thats how I got my fear back of asking a girl on a date. On October 28, 1994 I became Mark T can you believe it will be 12 years this year and 12 is my favorite number and I was fearless could do anything but then 95-97 terrible things were done to me some by lifeguards at this very park but those days are gone and I don't want them repeated so I just savor the stunning beauty of Kristen and I wish upon a star that one day I'll see her more often and will share stories that I probably won't share with you. What I do know though besides the fact she is beautiful is that every time I have seen her it has been a great day and today would be no exception.
Today I started off with "THE SHOW" where I go up and down the dragon 8 or more times in a row. Last week I told you as soon as the dragon was open again I'd go and do "THE SHOW" Sources say Last Saturday the dragon never reopened yet Justin kept telling me in 15 minutes it would. Today it was open or at least the chair that said this attraction closed had been pushed to the side and a slide attendant was at the top in fact today there was a slide attendant at the top of every slide. I like that. I rode the curved slide 9x and the last time I went on the steep slide pushing the stair count very quickly to 940.
Next how wonderful for me there were very few people in the park today in fact sometimes I had slides to myself. I went and rode my favorite ride of them all whitewater. I did not have to settle for sneaking one or 2 rides in. I got to ride it 10x in a row that was fantastic and I saw Alicia that was another highlight in this beautiful day. The stair count went up to 1,380 and I took "THE HIKE" over to the action river and you know that girl I have had several weekends at the dragon was there not at the dragon though apparently she did not win whatever game they played to get spots today so there she was. I went around and then I went and rode the red bowl slide 5x and you know last week I complained that the stairs definately could use some attention which must have been read because this week there was a broom on the stairs with a sign that said if you feel these stairs need attention clean them up. Actually there was no sign like that but there indeed was a broom. Brittney is still working probably until the last day isn't that great?
I then rode the yellow bowl slide 5x and then around the river I went and that lifeguard who usually sees me at the dragon told me not to get out because I was one of the few people in the river. I can't just go around a river all day. all though back in the day I did go around the old lazy river 10x but my sister was with me then. I went to the storm and I followed the classic pattern vortex, abyss, cyclone, cyclone, abyss vortex, vortex, abyss cyclone and cylcone and with this the stair count went to 2,760 and that would mean only 210 stair away from the 100,000 stair goal so there would be no better place to go then my favorite ride whitwater which I climbed up 5 times. The last time Ryan was up there and that is when I reached 100,000 stairs climbed this season. Actualy 2,980 stairs climbed today make 100,010 climbed this season. There still are 2 more days to go so we will add to reduce the 1 man 1 park 1 million stair goal in 2008? or will it be 2009?
It was 1:37 and 73 degrees when I left the park and I shall return weather permitting tomorrow afternoon who knows how many stairs I'll climb or what stories will unfold will I be so lucky to see the beautiful Kristen again or will todays wonderful memory have to last me a lifetime? You to can create memories by coming out to Deep River Waterpark one of the next 2 days because this is it your last opportunity this season if you don't come out now you will have to wait 263 more days until May 25, 2007 so come on out right now. I'll see you there.
If I could have scripted the ending to this 2006 season it would have been perfect yesterday from seeing the beautiful Kristen at the front gate to having every slide with an attendant to reaching the 100,000 stairs climbed. I could have easily left with wonderful memories that would hopefully hold me over unitl May 25, 2007. Ah but there are still days to play and you know I just can't stay away even though there could have been the perfect ending yesterday. It was around 2:30 today when I returned. Parking was more than ample. I had planned to simply tour the park today but the dragon was closed not a drop of water could be found on it. The park itself was lightly staffed what a difference a day makes.
I began the day at the yellow bowl slide which was a mere shadow of itself. The sides used to have water that gushed down. Now barely any water dripped from the sides. My tears from the park closing or not seeing Kristen will probably produce more water than that. It was then on to the red bowl slide and around the action river I would go and remember when all the guards flanked it but now very few could be found. I then took "THE HIKE" to see that the dragon was closed probably because not enough lifeguards around. It was a depressing sight. I made my way over to the storm and put the pattern in reverse. This weekend is the Gary Indiana Air and Watershow and some fighter jets flew overhead. In all I went on the storm 13x in a row making the count 980 for the day.
I took a gander in the US30 Surf Shop located at the front of the park. Today everything was 20% off. There were a couple of items that caught my attention including a Deep River Waterpark jacket marked for $65.00. Now do you think I get another 10% off with my season pass discount. Well I will see what the discount percentage is tomorrow and maybe I'll buy something to keep the memories going during the off season. I returned to the slides and I went on my favorite ride whitewater followed by each of the body slides and then I went on whitewater 3 more times putting the count at 1,244 for the day and 101,254 for the season but now the focus is on 1 MAN 1 PARK 1 MILLION STAIRS in 2008? or will it be 2009? 2008 is shaping up to be a very big year for me. This year has to go buy and lets not forget 2007 but since 1998 I have climbed 779,070 stairs at Deep River Waterpark leaving a mere 220,930 to reach 1 million stairs.
I left the park at 4:38 p.m. the temperature was 76 degrees. Tomorrow is it folks the conclusion of the 2006 season your last chance to see Deep River Waterpark this season. I'll take one last drive down US 30 and it is a very rough day who knows what time I will play but I know that I can not make it to the end that would be to difficult. I don't have a lot of memorable stories about Labor Day it is a tough day as I have to answer the question Now What? I have been at the park so much it has made time fly by but what will happen the 263 days that the park is close? I really don't know. I do know that tomorrow is your last chance to come and play at Deep River Waterpark this season so come on out for this is no I can do it tomorrow and tomorrow for one last time this season. I'll see you there.
It was 12:37 and 70 degrees when I returned to Deep River Waterpark for the 55th and final time this season. It marked the 200th time I had been at Deep River Waterpark since 2003 and it was time to put my 199-0 in the 1,000 stair game on the line as I went for 200 wins in a row. At the front gate I heard go ahead on in Mark. Ah how I will miss that gate and the chances I had to se the extremely beautiful Kristen who if I were a betting man I'd bet that she will be my Valentine in 2007 as she is currently the run away favorite. I wonder will I ever see her again oh how I should have gotten her digits ah but at last I am afraid of telephones so what good would have that done. Here we all know she has an open invitation to join me for dinner anytime but she probably doesn't know that and even if she did would she accept. Oh if I could have gotten her e-mail and then we could write well I could but at last she created wonderful memories for me and I wish I could see more of her and maybe my mind plays tricks on me and it sees what it wants to see but I believe I saw her for one last time today standing there as I entered in the park with such a beautiful smile on her face.
Today I would try to ride each slide 5x and I would start with the dragon. "THE SHOW" was unavailable yesterday and yesterday was not a very good day for me. It actually would have been a terrible way to end the season so it was good that today was better. You know at the end of 2004 I planned to retired from Deep River Waterpark climbing up stairs and stuff. There would be no more Deep River Waterpark Daily with your host Mark T but the park expanded and I had to see in 2005 and that was a wonderful year. I can not explain why but it was among one of my favorites and I was glad I did not retire just yet. This year was a good year but nowhere near as good as last year. I can't explain it maybe because by the end of July the park never seemed to have a full staff, maybe because my nephews did not come as much this year, maybe because "The Eye-Popping Kim" worked at the wavepool and I seldom saw her this year, maybe I missed Mike or Lindsey IV, maybe Dustin didn't work on weekends, maybe I didn't make it to one buyout this season I tried to make it to 2 but nothing worked out and maybe I could not even get one Thursday at the park in. I don't know but something was missing this season.
People ask me why do you climb all those stairs and I tell them because one day I won't be able to and while I don't like to admit it that day is coming sooner than I'd like to admit but today I could still climb and I alternated between curved and steep slide and I did "THE SHOW" where I climb the dragon at least 8x in a row. In all I made it 10x and the count went to 940 and I xd the dragon off the 5 rides a day and I went over to the body slides. You seldom see me there but today I alternated and rode each slide 5x. I saw Alicia she had some purple sandals she really liked them and to tell the truth I really did too. To bad we did not get to see them more but maybe next year. Ryan was at the top of the body slides and I went down each one 5x making the stair count 1,380 for the day and I xd off this slide and put my record to 200-0 in the last 4 years of the 1,000 stair game.
I then took a ride around the lazy river before going over to the storm where I rode the vortex 5x in a row. The stair count went to 1,700 and then I took "THE HIKE" and I saw there was still only 20% off at the US 30 surf shop make it 30% and I would have bought that Deep River Waterpark jacket but it just wasn't enough. I noticed that the yellow bowl slide was closed no water running on it and they actually had an extra slide attendant with this closure. I like that. I went on the red bowl slide 5x in a row and how about this Ryan was up there too. I then went around the Action River a couple of times. I saw Emily who was sick and I think covering 4 spots today. She said her mom was going to take her to the emergency room to get antibiotics once she got home. Where I am from down the road they call that Immediate Care "The Doctor is In" I also saw Alicia who was not very entertained and she was counting tubes as there were not many people in the park today.
After a couple times around I returned to the red which had to fill in for yellow. This year I have not had the problems with the red bowl slide like I had last year and for 5 more times I went on the red bowl slide to push the stair count up to 2,440 and around once more I went and then I took "THE HIKE" and I was summoned to the wave pool by Rachel and normally I would not go near the wave pool but it was the last day and I may never ever again see Rachel she did not sound all that confident that she would be back to defend the 2006 Female Lifeguard of the Year Crown and I haven't had good luck with the winner coming back. She said "Things Happen" Indeed they do who knows what will happen in 263 days. Her hair was darker. I did not like that. If there is one thing I am about it is about hair and I am willing to say if I like it or don't. This I would have to go with my sister and telling people who ask about it "Do you like It?"
I then continued on the 5x on each slide alternating between abyss and cyclone and I even saw Becky and haven't seen her in awhile but she said she has been at the park well at least here we are at the end. The stair count went to 3,080 and I was feeling it there was time for one last "THE SHOW" this season and so I went to the dragon I first alternated between curved and steep and then 7-10 were on the curved slide as I prefer that easier on the back and this was not the 4th of July but if it was I would have made 4,000 on the 4th of July as the count went to 4,020 and now my friends can you guess what ride would be "THE LAST RIDE" for 2006? If you guessed my favorite ride whitewater you would be correct. I rode it 5 times to say farewell. I had Becky pushing me. I heard from Alicia that they were packing the chairs up all of them were gone from behind her at the lazy river and they had started pulling the tubes out.
My heart is not strong enough to stay until the end on the closing day. It is already a depressing day as everything gets put away so with 4,240 stairs climbed today and 105,494 climbed this season which is 6,506 less than last season the count goes to 778,790 in ONE MAN, ONE PARK, ONE MILLION STAIRS after official review so only 221,210 away meaning need to climb 110,605 each of the next 2 seasons to reach this in 2008 and if I don't reach it then there is always 2009. I have no problem stating I'm a sad lonely guy simply waiting to die but for a bried time in the summer there is some happiness for me. At the church I go to the priest always says we need to do things to make this world a little less sad. Deep River Waterpark makes my life a little less sad and this summer Kristen made my life a little less sad. I hope that I or if not me that the park itself made your life a little less sad and that you had a splashstastic time at least once if not more this summer. Remember season passes go on sale in November they make great Christmas Gifts and Deep River Waterpark opens again on May 25, 2007 at 10 a.m. for season number 13 in 263 and guess what? I'll see you there.
