For some reason the month of August has never been kind to your host Mark T. According to the records the last time I lost my 1,000 stair game was August 1, 2001. In July I manage to get to the park alot but in August I do not. It was 10:09 and 80 degrees when I returned after two long days away. The parking lot was filling up very quickly and it looked like it would be quited a challenge to climb 1,000 stairs today little did I know how hard it would prove to be. I began at the abyss and today there were 2 people on top the storm for the 3 slides and I so wanted to comandeer the abyss it wold be the perfect slide for me to run for awhile. I did not do so though. I went down the abyss and then over to the curved slide of the dragon.
Next, I took "The Hike" and I noticed that the cup and the lemonade bottle which had been on the top of a ledge near the Paddles guard station were gone. I wonder what happen to them. The Lemonade bottle especially had become part of the storyline but now that has come to an end much like this season is quickly approaching its end. Usually, at the yellow bowl slide I like to see Abby so I know I will be safe but today she was not at that place and I would go up the stairs and then things would go terribly wrong. On the yellow bowl slide there is "the spot" and if you hit "the spot" you are a deadman you can see it looks much slicker than the rest of the slide as you approach it. If you don't hit "the spot" you often get stuck. Today I hit "the spot" I was enjoying a very lazy ride followed every instruction just going around the bowl slowly but in a matter of seconds all that changed.
I hit the spot the tube flipped banging me into the slide my head hit very hard the slide had no give. My left shoulder also banged into the wall. My thought was I Mark do not lose consciouness. I did all I could not to black out. I did not black out but was thrown from the chute like a dead fish with the tube on top of me not even an are your ok from the lifeguard. I am sure Abby would have had me on a cart and over to health services which is probably where I should have went but I am a hard head. I tried to shake off the pain and went up the red bowl slide. The slide attendant that pushed me down was very concerned and asked if I was ok just him asking made me feel somewhat better but it could not take away the physcial pain. By the time I got to the top of the red bowl slide the pain in my head had gone away but the left shoulder pain remained and it is intense.
I then returned to the yellow bowl slide because that is what I do. If someone gets hurt on the slide I ride it immediately as soon as the coast is clear to show that the slide is indeed safe. This time I was much more alert it wasn't just a leisurely ride as it had been before. If I saw myself getting near "the spot" I was even going to use my hands if nessary to get away from it. I made it down without incident. The damage however had already been done. The stair count went to 380 and then I took "The Hike" which was long, lonely and painful and I went up the stairs of the dragon and would find it extremely difficutl to push off since I need both hands for that. This could be devasting for this season. The count went to 474. I saw the shortest line in the park was at whitewater so that is where I went.
I was able to ride whitewater 4 times in a row before Chaos arrived there. It was a very busy day. The stair count went to 650. It was very easy to ride whitewater because that didn't require any use of my arms. I went to the storm and you know on a day like this what you are going to see "Chaos at The Cage" and at some points it was not to busy but at others it got pretty bad. I managed to ride the abyss 2x and then probably not wanting to believe I had been injured by a slide I went back up the stairs of the dragon and put myself in intense pain to push off. I am going to have to be off of that for a while. The stair count went to 872 and I went back to "Chaos at The Cage" I rode the abyss 2x more and got the victory today with exactly 1,000 stairs climbed. With today's incidents I will need to take a couple of days off. I don't know when "The Show" will be available and wonder how this will effect the quest for 1 Man 1 Park 1 Million Stairs.
I did have my sister who is a nurse check me out this evening she could see the scrape on my face and determined that my shoulder is severely bruised that is painful and will take several days to get better maybe even a week. I am treating the pain with aspercreme hope that this won't keep me sidelined to long well I can ride tube rides still so I plan to be back for Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooooooooosday on Tuesday as there are only 2 left this season. Summer is fleeting so like the many people that came out today you should come to Deep River Waterpark before summer is over and you wish that you had gotten to Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course. Eventually, I'll see you there.
After spending 2 days away which were very difficult for me I returned to Deep River Waterpark arount 5:00 p.m. this evening. It was very hot. I was nowhere near 100% and had it been earlier in the season I probably would have forced myself to take an entire week off but I will take the week off when not all the rides and attractions will be open at once from August 20-25. When I arrived there was virtually no line at the storm and that is where I would begin. Many days I have woken up and have been thankful that I have been painfree but not since Saturday. As you may have read I was injured on the yellow bowl slide having my shoulder and head slam into the slide. My head is fine but the shoulder pain remains. Each day it does get less severe which is a good sign and actually at certain times until I do things with it there actually is no pain so I should probably not do those things but I can not stop myself as would prove the story tonight.
I began with the vortex, abyss, cyclone, cyclone and abyss for 320 stairs the ride down the slides was fine. However the problem was getting out of the tube in the catch pool that caused pain in the left shoulder and now pain I did not even have before on the left side of my body. I knew on Saturday that I lost my ability to push off of body slides and though there were plans to see the seldom seen Back to BAck to Back "The SHOW" I doubted I even have "The Show" available but since the line was so short I went up the stairs of the dragon and rode the curved slide. I could not push off and when I did I just went a little distance and leaning back did not help just stuck at the top of the slide for a second or two but gradually worked myself down. The ride was fine it was the pushoff and I did not want to believe that so I went right back up and rode it again with the same predicament. The stair count went to 508 and I wondered would I tonight even be able to climb 1,00 stairs?
My legs they wanted to keep going this felt like nothing to them. However, the upper body did not want to go on. I forged on and went on the storm 3 more times making the stair count 700 for the evening and then snuck in my favorite ride of them all whitewater and that made the stair count 744 and with that it was a good time to take a break. Normally, on Tuesday nights some member of my family comes to find me and make me eat. Tonight only my parents were at the park because everyone else had to get to the Lake County Fair because there were fireworks there tonight. My parents would join the rest of them there so there was no food tonight but I did need a break from the slides.
I saw Dustin and did confirm that he was not at Deep River Waterpark last Tuesday so he won't be able to say that he was at every Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooooosday in 2007 but as long as I can make it next week I will have but that remains to be seen. I found Emily who was not familiar with Greg The Bunny or Count Blah. Greg The Bunny had a brief run in 2002 on Fox and then resurfaced in 2005 on the Independent Film network. Fredrick "Count Blah" Blah is another actor who has worked with Warren the Ape many years ago. He is a parody of the Count from Sesame Street, although he regularly claims that the Sesame Street Count stole his act and took away his fame. He says "Blah" at the end of all of his sentences, although it sometimes comes out as "Bleh." In the IFC series, Spencer often asks Blah when directing to stop saying "Blah." This makes Blah very upset, as he insists that Blah is his gimmick.
I spent awhile at that stand and then returned to the slides around 7:10 a.m. noting that tonight I would come back before it was time to close. Once again like a siren the dragon called out to me and up the stairs I went. The slide attendant was Mike and he had heard about Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Toooooooooosday and wanted to know how you get a Tootsie Pop and I told him you just ask and he said he would be on top the dragon and that was a lot of stairs to climb to deliever a tootsie pop but I have done it before. As I walked back to the dragon I saw Mike who was not on top of dragon and I thought I should use this as a sign to call it a night on the dragon so I went to the storm.
At the storm it was Tuesday night and Jennifer was in the water. If you gave me the game what doesn't belong in this picture I would say everything was wrong with this picture. She apologized that I got hurt and even worse that no attention was given to this injury though the lifeguard had to hear this loud slam against the slide. The main thing is recovery and I am hopeful I will heal within weeks but there isn't much left to this season so in September I wll have months to recover. Funny, I can easily get up the stairs and down just painful to get out of the catch pool. She did let me stay in the water a little bit that takes the pain out and just maybe I will have to go over to the wave pool so that my shoulder can be in water for a long period of time but that wasn't going to happen just yet. I rode the storm 4x in row and the stair count went to 1,094 so victory was mine and I thought this is a good rode to recovery Saturday had 1,000 so this is just a little bit more. At this point in time it seems impossible to make it to 110,000 this season but I will just keep going and see what happens.
I did see at whitewater there was not much of a line. All you had to do was find a tube and I did that so up I went and the stair count would go to 1,138 and I thought that was progress and that would be "The LAST RIDE" had I known that would leave me just 34 stairs short of 80,000 climbed this summer I would have toughed out just one more slide but the next time I am at Deep River Waterpark I will definately go over the 80,000 stair mark. I was ready to go to the West Side but Dustin had moved to this side at one of the original spots in the Lazy river. We reminisced on how 13 years ago this section with just the wave pool was it not eventhe storm was there in the first season and they had 2 lifeguards that just cleaned the lazy river walls each day. I think it was Simple Green that they used. Now not even the numbers remain on these walls and they certainly aren't clean. I should see Dustin one last time next week as that will be the conclusion of Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop Tubin Tooooooooooooooosdays for 2007 and one wonders will Dustin be back for 2008 we can only hope as he should have 15 years in him.
At Guest Services I found "The Sensational Sasha" and she claims she has been there every Tuesday night but I have seen her less than half. I was happy to find her as she actually likes Chocolate Tootsie Pops and that is what I end up with. Actually tonight would end up sold out of everything but orange and chocolate and I thnk one cherry was left in the bag. "The Sensational Sasha" radioed Justin who made his way. Justin's brother was at the park tonight and Emily kept telling me he looked like Justin but I had no mental image of Justin to go to so I would need to see them side by side. Justin's brother kept telling me I looked liked Bill Gates. This better not be an insult to my hair. As everyone knows I have extremely beautiful hair and sometimes during the non summertime when I am depressed I look in a mirror and say well at least I have extremely beautiful hair so I can carry on. Justin radioed Joe Parker as I had these blue tootsie pops for him and last week I missed him so we can't have that happen again.
I made my way to the West Side. I saw Jennifer she was preparing for something called Double Dare which was on Nickolodean and hosted by Marc Summers. I thought Marc Summers hosted some other television show but I don't know so Jennifer would research that for me. She wrote it on her hand. Actually when I was younger and if you go to my parents today they do not have cable so I saw Double Dare on Fox channel 32 I want to say that it was on at 4 or 4:30 but that may not be accurate. I also thought that after Double Dare went off the air a like year or so later there was something called Super Double Dare which was Double Dare but with more messier challenges in that. I wonder what Jennifer will find out.
Chris informed me that the lemonade bottle was gone. They went searching everyday until they found it. I think the cup gave it away. I was thinking it would make it until Labor Day or at least until the park is closed for the week. It did have a good run though. I finally made it back to Emily and this week it was late. I can't make it for her last day which is Friday August 17 because my assistant is taking her daughter back to college and Fridays are rough not as rough as Thursday but I had 2 this season only and thats all I get. Emily did admit to seeing Joe Parker at a Super Walmart so you can fill in your own story. Eventually it was time for the park to close and I took the 1,138 stairs climbed as progress and the count went to 79,966 for the season leaving a whopping 30,034 stairs left to climb by Labor Day to reach the 110,000 stair goal.
I left the park at 9:30 p.m. it was 85 degrees. Depending on how I feel I hope to play "Let's Pretend the Day Didn't End" so I would only have to be away for 12 hours and 30 minutes before I return to Deep River Waterpark for what is known as "Wacky Wednesday" Summer it is going by fast and the dates that Deep River Waterpark will be open the rest of the year are few so why don't you come out for a few and you will be glad you did. The park is just 4.5 miles east of I-65 just off of US30 so come out today. I'll see you there.
I spent 12 hours and 33 minutes away from Deep River Waterpark before finally returning at 10:03 a.m. the temperature was already 82 degrees and now only one more time in all of 2007 will I get to play my favorite game of them all "Let's Pretend The Day Didn't End" Today, I continued on the road to recovery which is to slow at this time of year so I really don't know what the results would be but by climbing just the stairs to just one slide I finally went over the 80,000 stair mark which I really had hoped to reach at the end of July. I was able to do "The Classic" the getting out of the tube prooved still to be rather rough and painful just no good way for that but the until I started going down the slides and getting off I was fine. There were 2 guys up at the top of the slides and there they would stay for over 2 hours. They did have one whistle between the 2 of them and down to just one lifeguard at the bottome of the storm as it seems the staff has been desimated here in early August.
The guys did a nice job actually you could see after an hour that they lost energy and really could have used a break but they did carry on. They were eventually replaced by 2 girls who did not have a whistle between them. Today was actually mapped out on the rode to recovery I knew what I had hoped to do and what stair count I wanted to get too. I wanted to do a few more than last night and I needed to make sure I stayed off the dragon no matter how much it called out to me. In all I climbed up the stairs of the storm 19x in a row. Often times I had to wait in line for a tube but today other then the fence falling in on us it was actually rather tame which was nice as opposed to "Chaos at the Cage" I took "The HIKe" to the West Side and there I saw Emily she must have been on the island. She was headed to the lazy river. She should be there awhile so since I took "The HIke" I would go aroudn the action river once. This was something I did not try yesterday but it was very painful to hop up on the tube the way I do.
I went around the action river and then did the easies thing I do "River to River" Jennifer did research Marc Sommers and she gave me a taste that he hosts something called Unwrapped on the Food Network which she does watch but had forgotten. I am not familiar with that. He has also been on Hollywood squares. She though had to go as i think there was more that she might now know about Mark Sommers who I believe is actually from Indiana. Emily knows how to play "Let's Pretend The Day Didn't End" and orange was one of the flavors I still had left. I was surprised to see her at one of the original spots in the park. I don't recall see her at this lazy river much except maybe on wavepool river. The map today called for me even the stair count and climb 1,344 stairs and see how I felt after that. If any complications surfaced I would stop. I had gotten to 1,206 so I had to more rides in me. Those rides would be the abyss and once again today I really wanted to commander the abyss after I had climbed the 1,000 stairs cause then I could stay longer. The same girls were still there one her face had now turned red. I was concerned about her. I got up the abyss 2x and that made 21x on the storm 1,344 stairs for the day and 81,310 for the season leaving 28,690 left to reach 110,000 and unless there is a recovery that goal won't be able to be reached as I project now have 7-10 days left to play this summer.
As I walked out the park I saw Courtney so at the Kiddie area so I could unload the chocolate tootsie pops so they won't have to be at the office. She gave me a blue rasberry jolly rancher it was pretty good. There was a chair that I could sit in by the stand so it was nice that I was able to extend my stay today despite the fact I didn't want to push myself on the slides today and it was hot. The forecast says it will continue to be hot and while I will take 2 more days off with hope of full recovery you should get out to Deep River Waterpark while it is still open and at full operation adn that is only for this week and next because from August 20-25 the park will be open but not everything at once so you don't want to miss this. Come on out you will have a splashtastic time. Eventually, I'll see you there.
The longest I have spent away from Deep River Waterpark this season is 3 days in a row. That is pretty good. I will be away for 5 days from August 20-25 when Deep River Waterpark will be open but not all the rides and attractions at once. It was very difficult for me to stay away yesterday but it is something that needed to be done. I wish I could say that I had recovered completely and that "The Show" could go on but I doubt "The Show" will go on again in 2007. Today I would say that I am at about 80% and only time will heal the damage done by the tragic events on the yellow bowl slide. Now many people have pointed out that had I lost consciousness it could have been the end of Mark T has it doesn't matter how tall you are if you are dumped into water. I doubt that would have happened but it would have been a very good ending to this storyline and this site would have faded to black. Instead today I returned at 10:19 a.m. it was 83 degrees. Despite it being Sunday a very large crowd was already on hand.
I have taken myself off body slides for awhile. Actually when I arrived the dragon was closed. A person sat on the stairs to indicate such. I simply went to the storm where I was shocked to find a slide attendant the last week or so I haven't seen a slide attendant on a slide. There was one up top today and one lifeguard below. The line to the storm already had built. I was able to use the same tube 5 times in a row before there was also a wait for tubes in the cage which is falling and being torn down. After the first rotation 2 slide attendants actually were on the storm that is something I hadn't seen this month. It was a slow pace but I continued on. In all I rode the storm 16x 14x on the abyss 2x on the cyclone and the stair count went to 1,024 and I could climb much more but that will be for another day. It was easy to climb the stairs and ride the slide although the cyclone does prove more challenging because it is a rough ride. It was still painful to get off the tube but much less painful than on Wednesday. The stair count for the year goes to 82,334. I will return maybe Monday will see it would be the last Monday this summer other than Labor Day of course but if not then for the Last Tubin Tuesday of 2007 when for the last time this season you can get into Deep River Waterpark after 5 p.m. and stay until 9:30 p.m. for only $9.95. Don't let summer pass you by without giving Deep River Waterpark a try. I'll see you there.
This was it the last night all year that Deep River Waterpark would be open until 9:30 p.m. They came and they went just like that and this season I was able to bring you every single one. I returned to the park at 4:45 p.m. it was 83 degrees and as I set up shop I was approached by a girl who asked me "Sir do you have a cellphone I could use to call my mom" I actually have a cellphone for emergencies and I guess this would be an emergency it is just a prepaid and if you want the number you can have it but most people do not have it. I usually leave it in the car but sometimes I have it on my person so I took a look and I had not brought it in. She said that was ok and went on her way. I often wonder why people ask me things do I have some look that I would be helpful. Apparently, I am not scary to approach.
I began the day on my favorite ride of them all whitewater. I wish I was back to 100% but I am not. At least this ride was pain free it was more of a jump off of the tube than a hop off. I am still estimating my health at 80% and while I hope for a full recovery before season end I know that may not happen. Therefore, I am trying to preserve myself because in 2008 hopefully it will be One Man: One Park: One Million Stairs but to get there I will need to be 100% in 2008. After whitewater I went to the storm which proved that I am an addict to slides at Deep River Waterpark. I went up and down various slides a few times I even got in the votex and as I got to over 700 I told myself that would be a good place to stop but I did not I kept going and 1,004 that was plenty the game was won but still I did not stop. After climbing the storm 18x with a stair count of 1,196 I did stop as I knew that if I needed to stop their the number would be even.
I found one of my nephews Luke Tyler,1 and he was on the run. My other nephew would not make it tonight as he was not feeling well. Luke Tyler had a good time running as fast as his little legs would take him with a smile on his face but he doesn't really go that fast. He found fun at this thing that sprays water there were some low streams and he like to be in them and he would tell me to push the button when the water stopped. It was time to eat one last time but only one sister and one nephew and my parents the best we could do for this final Tootsie Roll tootsie Pop Tubin Tooooooooooooooosday. My mother is a bus driver and she spent most of the day at Deep River Waterpark today and how I envied that. Eventually dinner broke up. I took a walk around the park. I saw Emily on the island what was she doing there? That would be a tough spot.
I continued my walk. I saw Dustin probably for the last time this season but we had a good time. It seemed he would be back for season 14 as I say he and I need to go for 15 seasons and if summer just goes by this fast all the time that will be a piece of cake. I got around the river to wave pool river saw Alicia she apparently also has yellow sandals like Emily she will wear them tomorrow because I like them and both the sisters could have the yellow sandals on that would make me happy. Tomorrow is her last day I guess on the schedule as she will be back saturdays and in the afternoons. Alicia is apparently a senior who will be graduating early in December or something. I went on two more storm slides. Rich Joe Parker's intern was still up top there but at least someone was. The stair count went to 1,388.
I took "The Hike" it was lonely and I had to manuever to get into this action river because the most painful thing for me to do is to hop up on the tube like I normally would in a lazy river. Plus I had some tootsie pops in my hand but I managed and made my way to the island and wondered why Emily would take this has her first choice. The tootsie pop may have gotten a little wet but I was basically working with one arm. I told Emily I am not 100% I know it has been a week and a half I wish I was and I do not know if I will return to the dragon this summer or if I will get to 110,000 stairs I have to think of my health and the future. You never know if I became 100% I can go up and down the dragon with ease and really rack up stairs. I have to hold out hope but no one gives me anything if I reach the goal or not if I don't reach 110,000 stairs it will mean a bigger challenge for next summer to reach 1 million stairs. It was good for me to be at the island because I could keep my shoulder in the water for awhile which made it feel much better. When I left the island I would say maybe got up to 83%. If only I could keep my shoulder in the water for awhile that seems to work wonders.
On the hike I saw "The Sensational Sasha" and Brian so this was a good hike and I made my way to the storm where I would play until the rides and attractions closed at 9:15 p.m. I rode 7 more times and pushed the stair count to 1,836 making 84,170 stairs climbed this season. It was very nice but that is the end of nights in 2007 and tomorrow as I play for the last time in 2007 "Let's Pretend The Day Didn't End" it will be my last weekday at Deep River Waterpark. Deep River Waterpark will be open next week just not all the rides at once and you should attend. I am hopeful with that week off I will get to 100% and have a final 5 days push but we will see. I left the park at 9:32 p.m. it was 80 degrees. Remember soon Summer will be gone and you will have to wait until 2008 so don't make that mistake come out to Deep River Waterpark today. I'll see you there.
12 hours and 31 minutes passed before I returned to Deep River Waterpark to play my favorite game "Let's Pretend The Day Didn't End" one last time this summer. It was actually quiet sad. Once just weeks ago how every Wednesday the park was alive and full but now very little is left. There were very few workers when I returned today and I remember times where the park was much better staffed. The dragon was closed until after 11 a.m. but at least it did not tempt me. This is the last weekday will be at the waterpark. Now it is just weekends and that Monday of Labor Day. Deep River Waterpark wil be open during the week next week but not all the rides and attractions at once. It would be interesting to see but it is not for me.
Today I felt about 85% so I am getting better and hope that by Labor Day weekend will have one last burst of energy but you never know. Today all I would ride was one slide. That slide "the stair climbers best friend" aka the abyss. When the park was in full swing there is a game that I play outlast the lifeguard normally that is played on the dragon. I just go on the ride until a new lifeguard comes. Today, that would have been tough but somehow I did manage and I think it took 43 times down the abyss but I outlasted him. That lifeguard was replaced by Emily and this is the last day I would see her. She thought I could make it 60x but not today. If I was 100% probably I got up to 50 and then I could do 5 more so I went down the abyss 55x in a row making the stair count 3,520. Seldom was there ever a line. For a brief time Emily was in the water what is with this?
I did get Emily an orange tootsie pop the last of the season despite the fact the season will continue everything today seemed so final. I took "The Hike" with her until she had to get in the water and go off to the island and there I left her which could be the last time I ever see her. "The Hike" back was all alone and apparently some water may have gotten in my eye. I did find Emily's sister who did indeed have the same yellow sandals today how about that. She was at the top of Kiddie. She was rotated by a guard named Luke it was not his first day and maybe not even his first year. I saw Justin on a stand he wasn't happy about it but apparently they were really short so everyone was on a stand and believe me not every stand had someone on it.
The end of this day had to come eventually and this was the toughest one to leave the park but I knew I had to my Wednesdays had come to an end. There was even a trace of "Wacky Wednesday" It was 2:09 when I left the park. The stair count for the year 87,690 so quite a few to go. This is not the end though there are still a few days left to enjoy Deep River Waterpark but those are very few so make your plans to come out right now. I'll see you there.
August has not been kind to me. Little did I know on Wednesday August 15, 2007 when I came to Deep River Waterpark last that would be the last time it would be open until today. For 9 long days the park was closed due to storm damage in the area which may have been a good thing for me as you may remember it was 3 weeks ago on this very day I took a spill on the yellow bowl slide and since that time I have never been the same. What I probably need is rest and to stay off slides for awhile and one would think 9 days away would help that. If the slides had been open I would have probably been on them but that was not possible.
This morning brought rain so my arrival was a bit delayed. I arrived at 11:19 a.m. it was 72 degrees and skies were gray. There was no level of excitement when I entered the park. Few patrons and just a small staff was on hand. When I began the day I was feeling that I almost had recovered from the worst injury I have sustained in years. I would put the feeling at 95%. I started by taking "The HIKE" because the yellow bowl slide and I have some unfinished business to settle. I saw Suzy who was lifeguarding not attending the slides and despite that Wednesday being her last day here she was. I rode the yellow bowl slide 5x in a row without an incident. On "The HIKE" I could see the water in all the slides moving much faster these days like they are brand new that is nice.
Despite what my imaginary doctor said I chose to return to the dragon and I went up the 94 stairs and I came down the curved slide and I was able to push myself down but I am pretty sure that is where I reagravated my injury. At the bottom was Dustin I thought I had seen him for the last time this season as this year he had not been working weekends but there he was. He said on Wednesday night it was the darkest he ever saw it there and he has been around. Apparently, he also suffered hail damage to his vehicle by being in the lot that Wednesday night. All the motors were underwater and had to be rebuilt.
I could only ride the dragon once and that was probably one time to many but the slide was there. I then went over to the storm and began "The Classic" and I could not stop after that so I just kept the pattern up and rode the storm 29x times in a row with the variety of slides. Next, I went to my favorite ride of them all whitewater but today this ride would not be kind to me but the story goes that I follow Sammi and there she was and earlier I had her at the dragon and before that at the storm. I rode whitewater 2x and when I hit the water I could really feel the pain so I wondered is that where it came from or from pushing off on the dragon which is what I suspect. I then went back to the storm and rode it 5 more times putting the stair count at 2,728 for the day making 90,418 stairs climbed this season.
I had to be on my way and now there are only 4 days left to play so make sure you get out to Deep River Waterpark tomorrow when it will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. or I'll see you in September which is the next time Deep River Waterpark will be open September 1, 2008-September 3, 2008 for one last splash from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. I'll see you there.
Due to prior commitmments I was unable to be at Deep River Waterpark this morning. I did manage to make it at 3:17 p.m. it was 79 degrees. It took me a very long time to travel down US30 to Deep River Waterpark I think over an hour today but I did make it. Today I was really feeling the effects of perhaps all the curves from yesterday and yesterday I was 95% today maybe down to 80% so I would try to stick with one slide the stair climbers best friend the abyss. I rode it 14x in a row and the slide attendants were very good to me. They pushed me down every single time even though they had 2 people for the 3 slides. On time number 15 I did not get a push and how terrible it made me feel that I so often could do this easily but now unable and I tried to push off with the one arm but did not have the power for that so had to push off and the pain was excrutiating and I felt so week but down the slide I went.
The next time up I made sure that I went to the vortex where someone was at that slide and that wasn't to bad of ride. I then went to the cyclone 2x it was rather rough on exit though. I was able to climb 1,152 stairs today so move closer to the 1 million stair mark but today was tough. Hopefully 5 more days off will do me good. The stair count today 1,152 making 91,570 climbed this season. Deep River Waterpark will be closed this upcoming week but will reopen for the final 3 days on Saturday September 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. so make your Labor Day plans now to include Deep River Waterpark. I'll see you there.
This time Deep River Waterpark was only closed 5 days in row as opposed to last time when it closed for 10 days in a row. Once the park closes and reopens during the season it is much like a ball that the air has been let out of. I returned today at 10:45 a.m. it was 75 degrees. The staff was very light and so was the number of patrons. For a brief period of time on Thursday I felt I was finally back to 100%. However then I lifted something and once again caused myself suffering from this one nagging injury. Today when I returned I was probably once again at 95% which is what I had gotten up to last week until I pushed myself down the dragon and then on the storm. Today "The Show" would not go on and in fact "The Show" has been canceled for the remainder of this season but it will return in 2008 and hopefully finally it will be "The Show" every hour on the hour 10, 11, noon, 1p.m, 2 p.m. 3 p.m. 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and that means riding the dragon 80x in one day which in itself would be 7,520 stairs that is for next year lets get back to today.
I started off with "The Classic" I saw Mike he used to be a slide attendant but apparently since they are so short they just made him a lifeguard but he assured me that he was certified so I was totally safe. I took comfort in that and carried on. After "The Classic" was complete I carried on just staying on the storm and Abby came along so I was still safe I went from group one 2 guys pushing to group 2 of slide pushers. Group 2 was actually very good kept the slides moving. The guy up there was really good and I enjoyed those times. In all I rode the storm 25x making the stair count 1,600.
I took a walk around the park and saw only the yellow bowl slide was open today and I always tell you if you want to ride the bowl slides you need to come early. I actually had planned to ride it today but when I saw the line and I know time is running out on climbing stairs and on Saturdays my time is limited so I returned to the storm and once again I tried to do "The Classic" but there is one slide that usually gets me and that was the vortex and it even got me today so on time number 6 "The Classic" was abandoned but I did continue on riding a total of 15x which today made the stair count 2,560 so in all I rode the storm 40x today. The stair count for the season goes to 94,130 stairs this season. There is no way I will get to 110,000 stairs in 2 more days. 100,000 might be possible right now just trying to set up to put in position to climb stair number 1 million in 2008 and no matter what I am going to have to climb more stairs in one season than I have ever climbed. My best year was 2005 with 112,000 stairs climbed. Currently 127,080 stairs away from 1 million.
This is it the last 2 days Deep River Waterpark will be open tomorrow and Monday and both days from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. so come on out it really is your last chance. I'll see you there.
