The birth of a Branch - T.C.K O.B.A Toronto
It was I think 1989 when Mr. Hilary Abayratne visited Toronto that Sam Canagasaby with a few other old boys had a get-together at Ansley Boteju’s residence. We had a number of old Trinitian attending this function. At this get-together Sam Canagasaby and a few others inquired from Mr. Abayratne, how the Australian Old Boys Association functioned. He gave us a detailed account as to how it all started and how we in Toronto could kick start our very own Old Boys Association here in Toronto.
Our first meeting took place at Rajiv Gnanaratnam 's residence. We had an old boy visiting us from Sri Lanka , Gamini Siriwardene ( Galsiri to his class mates).
He volunteered to chair the meeting. The first President elect was the late Vernon Boteju, who was great all round sportsman in the early 1960. The association has grown since and we now have close to a hundred registered members. We hope it will keep on growing. We owe it to those dedicated old boys who gave us a start.

A chit chat with Mr. Hilary Abeyratne after a few drinks. Its was and enjoyable evening. I think some of us met for the first time after leaving college and coming over to Canada. Its was a wonderful experience. What a joy it was. |
