Beginners Brilliance Award |
It's a brave new world here on the internet. An html world. Html?? Well...it's not as easy as one two three. Luckily, many offer you space to build your home page and the beginners tools to do it with. You don't have to write html yourself, they do it for you. You just upload the pictures you need, and you can drag and drop your page until it's a real home page. I think all beginners deserve this award, if they have made a great-looking, original, creative site, even though they didn't write the html codes themselves. That is why I am offering this award. To submit your site, email the URL and a short description. If you've won the award, you'll receive an email, if you don't hear anything, you haven't won, but you can always resubmit after making your page better. |

Simple tips |
1. Don't use too many colors, three is the max! |
2. Choose colors that are easy on the eye and don't clash too much. |
3. And don't let the text color clash with the background color! |
4. Don't use different fonts on one page. The title can be a different font from the bodytext though. |
5. It's best to use a neutral background that's not too crowded, otherwise the text will become difficult to read, and the focus of the reader is drawn away. |
6. Make a clear index, so that the reader can see in one take what's on your page. A simple list with buttons is the most common. |
7. It's VERY important that your links WORK! So doublecheck the URLs! |
8. If you use background music, use MIDI files, they have the appendix .MID Don't let them be much larger than 50k, or they will need forever to load and the visitor will be long gone! |
9. Don't cram too many photos/pictures on one page. Give them room. There is space enough! You can often lengthen the page. |
10. Don't use too many animations on one page. They're fun, but all those moving, fluttering, jumping animations can drive you crazy! Give them room. |
If you have a good tip or a question, email me. |

You know what also looks great and professional? A banner advertising your page! There are a lot of tools out there to create one yourself, like Adobe Photoshop (that's what I use), but if you're not that far yet, I will be happy to make one for you. Email your URL (site address) and what you would like the banner to say, what picture to add (or not) and I'll get to work. Go to my banners page to see examples. |
A pretty good place to start building your page is at Yahoo!Geocities. They offer you lots of space and great tools. The Page Wizard, if you really don't have any experience, and Page Builder for more freedom of creativity. Both are easy to use and have a lot of extras. Go on and try it!! Have fun! |
If you win, you receive the Beginners Brilliance Award. You can choose one of these Award banners to put on your site. |
