The Success Story
March - 13th 1996 - a red letter day. Kovilpatti Junior chamber was sponsored by the Pearl City Junior Chamber under the presidentship of Jc. K. Nehru Prakash. The installation ceremony was held in the presence of PNP. Jci. SEN. R.Rajagovindasamy, and Zone President Jc. R. Mohan. There were twenty four members in the first year under the founder president Jc. A.R.Jeyakumar. In January 1997 a massive, fund raising programme "LEONI PATTI MANDRAM" was conducted as a PR project.
In 1997 and 1998, the chapter was led by Jc. HGF. V. Parthiban. The membership growth doubled. A. Junior Jaycee wing was started at National Engg. College in 1997. The Blood Donors Club was formed with 500 members. The chapter Bulletin "THE LEADER" was born.
In 1999, in the Golden Jubilee year of IJC, Jc. HGF.P.Tenzing led the chapter effectively. A land was purchased for "JAYCEE BHAVAN" and the prestigious "LEGENDS" (Leadership Generation and Development School) was inaugurated under Kovilpatti Jaycees Charities as permanent project.
In 2000, the chapter was taken to greater heights by Jc. K.R.Radhakrishnan and the membership growth swelled to 54. A mega Fund raising programme "SOLOMON PAPPIAH'S PATTIMANDRAM" was successfully conducted.
In 2001, The chapter was being led by a zone trainer and an able leader Jc.HGF.G.A.R. Sundararajan and the membership growth touched a new height of 56. IJC Event "YOUTH POWER" was organised for Junior Jaycees.
For the past Six years, the chapter is being treated as an "ALL ROUNDER" , as activities are being done in every area. There are Six ZONE TRAINERS till date, Two Nalandians and one Vedian. Jc.HGF. G.A.R. Sundararajan, Jc.HGF.P.Tenzing, Jc.S.Ramasubramanian, JFM.S.Sankarrajan, Jc.B.Rajes Saravanan and Jc.P.Narayanasamy became the successful zone trainers.
Every year large number of scholarships worth thousands of rupees are being distributed to the school students who are economically backward and meritorious. The chapter got an opportunity to donate Rs.15,000/- as Professional Excellence scholarship to an Engg. College student last year.
The Junior Jaycee wing at National Engg. college has been the most out standing wing in the zone for the past four years with 2000 members. They have their own wing Bulletin "JUNIOR LEADER".
The chapter is regularly getting awards at Zone level, particularly in the training area. Many of our past presidents had the privilege of holding posts in the zone council and now our Past President Jc. HGF. P.Tenzing has taken over the prestigious post of Zone Faculty Cell Secretary.
