Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tilla
--------------------
This Gurdwara is situated
on the banks of the river Yamuna, near Chardaval Village.
When Guru Nanak came to Delhi, a muslim ascetic lived here.
His keen desire was to have a Glimpse of God.
This Sufi Darvesh led the life of a Patient recluse.
Guru Nanak during the course of his meetings with Muslim Darvesh converted
him to the path of balanced devotion of god rather than renunciation.
This hermitage became a Missionary centre of the Sikh faith.
Guru Har Gobind Singh ji
during his visit to Delhi stayed here after his release from Gwalior Fort.
This Gurdwara has assumed an important place, as centre of sikhism,
for the last five centuries.
In 1783 A.D. Sardar Baghel Singh camped here with his army when the Sikhs captured Delhi.
The sanctum sanatorium of Gurdwara Majun Ka Tilla is a small room with
a dome above and a covered passage around it.
The new building has been reconstructed by Baba Harbans Singh ji.
Baisakhi festival ( Birthday of Khalsa )
is celebrated here as one of the main functions at this Gurdwara.
