My thoughts on To Have and to Hold
Hello all :)
You know, I realized one thing watching last night's episode. I like Isabel. I like the character, I like the actress, I really do. But I don't like the character enough to make her the focus of the whole show. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the episode (not as much as the last couple of ones, I admit) but everything (with very few exceptions) was the "Isabel-show". I know there hasn't been a lot of those over the first two years, so maybe it was her turn, but I realized that I like my episodes a bit more character-balanced. (if that's even a word...) Or all about Max, but that's another matter altogether ;)
I don't know how to feel about Isabel's wedding. It's not that I don't care, but I think I could have cared more, you know? If Jesse had been a bad guy and we would have known about it, I would have been worried. If Jesse had been a very good guy and I loved him like Alex, I would have been all happy and giggly. But as it is now, he's just Jesse. We hardly know him. He's apparently a good guy, but we don't know that for sure (loved Max's little investigation, by the way). So I was watching the wedding just shaking my head, not too sure how to feel. Max was right when he told Isabel maybe it wasn't an accident so many people were telling her she was making a mistake. I guess I kinda missed the alien twist to the wedding. I was a lot more worried about Max making a mistake when he got drunk with Kyle than about this wedding. But Khivar should spice things up! I'll be honest, I'm more excited by next week's promo than by this whole episode. (and a friendly reminder to the nice folks at UPN 38 to please not cut the Roswell promo halfway to show the Entertainment Tonight promo. Please?)
Speaking of Khivar, how rude is he to invite himself to the wedding? *lol* And showing up just when Kyle was to finally get to dance. Booh Khivar.
Isabel said she spends too much time with Kyle. If that's true, why don't we ever see him, hmm? But that was the funniest scene. "Surely you're jesting" "Don't call me Shirley". *lol*
Michael got the job of "stating the obvious so the newbies can catch up" this week with the whole Vilandra/Khivar back story. And that pretty much was his only purpose, wasn't it? Though I liked him and Max trying to get information out of Jesse. Very subtle, boys.
When Isabel has troubles now she goes to Kyle or Michael. The Evans family unit is really falling apart. But points for Isabel for telling someone right away about her Khivar suspicions. Last year's Isabel would have kept it to herself until everyone got killed. :)
What would have happened if Jesse had a silver handprint on his face after Max healed him? How would you have explained that, best man? He he he. I *love* how Max tried to look surprised that the steak worked so well. That's one of the things I love most about Max. His complete inability to look surprised or casual when he's not (the alien blast moment is also a fine example).
The one moment I felt something more than just... shaking my head... at the wedding was when Isabel's mom came in with the wedding dress. It was sweet.
Where will the newlyweds live? Jesse is staying with his mother. Isabel is supposedly still living at home, though how can her and the parents not see each other at all living in the same house is kinda weird. I mean, it's hardly a mansion. Will everyone crash at Michael's now?
And Max coming in to get his shoes and steal fruit *lol*. He changed his cell phone number when he left, but I bet he was glad his parents didn't change the lock. Not that *that* would have mattered, but hey, the parents don't know that.
Can you tell I'm not sure what to write about this episode? I'm just babbling, aren't I? More than usual, I mean. Sigh.
Poor Jim looked disappointed that Mr. Evans showed up. And poor Kyle didn't get to dance. And he was all alone. Hug for Kyle.
I love how Liz stood up to her dad "I'm just going to be the person I was raised to be". He he he. Throw back in your dad's face what a good job he did raising you. :) He can't say anything now! And I love how she warned him she would dance with Max. Very grown-up and a much better way to make Mr. Parker understand her point than defiance would have been. Loved Max's reaction. That worried look he shot in Mr. Parker's direction was cool. He looked like he was worried he might get shot or something. *lol*
Okay... I'm out of things to say now. (Was that because you're surprised or because you're relieved that you all made that sound? ;P)
I'll talk to you later!
