My thoughts on Interruptus

It was the 50th Roswell episode, and possibly the best one so far this season. It had the suspense, the humour and a little bit of everyone. Me happy :)

The one thing better than Max in a tux? Max in the rumpled, open shirt without the jacket. Yummy.

"I'm all for denial as a way of life". Officially my new email signature/screen saver at the office. :)

It was nice that Max had his arm around his mom's shoulders when Isabel was leaving. They have things to deal with, but they're not constantly fighting. They're still trying to be a family.

"What, did I say his name wrong?" God I love Kyle! It's cool that he was the one to tell Max and Michael. Isabel has a bit of a problem confronting her brothers, eh?

And this week's winner of "let's state the obvious so the newbies can catch up"" is.... (drum roll).... Max! Runner up is Isabel in the hilarious "Jesse finds out" scene. Points to Kyle for being "the one kept out of the loop last season so you can fill me in without being too obvious that we're really doing this for the newbies" guy.

So Max is taking another road trip. At this rate, he's *never* going to graduate.

Messrs. Evans and Parker should take lessons in sneaking around from their kids. The aliens have kept the secret for 12 years, the humans for 2 and (almost) no one found out. The dads have been on the case for, like, minutes, and the whole alien mafia knows. Not very discreet. Now I'm worried that maybe Mr. Evans will go and ask the wrong people about Max and get all of them into very big trouble. Season 1 paranoia is back, people! And that's a very good thing.

And I know your son is a very private kind of guy, but gee, Mr. Evans. He got the girl pregnant and you don't even know her name? *shakes head*

Valenti still can't lie. That's why we love him. But he'll have to learn to be a bit better at it. Already cost him his job, as I recall.

Mr. Evans calling Jim "Sheriff" made me realize that everyone, myself included, still think of him as the sheriff. I feel weird calling him "Jim". Is there a way he could get his job back? If we ask nicely, maybe? He could still be a singer in his spare time.

Kyle got his old room back! I wonder if he used disinfectant? ;) Sorry for the Tess-bashing, but I just read in a interview that Jason Katims is considering bringing her back to put strain on the M&L relationship, yet again. As a dreamer, I ask you, haven't we suffered enough? What did we ever do to him? Sigh.

So Tess is "back east"? I thought maybe her relatives were "up north".

Isabel, you stupid alien girl, locking your husband in the bathroom to go meet with the guy who killed your whole family in a previous life. That's all I have to say about that.

Oh, and when did Isabel become the focus of the show? As I said last week, I like the character, I like the actress, but does it have to always be "all-about-Isabel"? What did Maria do this week besides fill the sugars? (or was it salt?)

Jesse. Well, I kinda like him now. He's blissfully ignorant of the whole thing. (unless he's not, and just pretending – my old paranoia is kicking in!) For now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and like him.

And as much as I sorta like him now, he's no Kyle (or Alex). How cute was Kyle asking about Isabel when Liz was on the phone with Max? I'm turning into such an in-crowder. Who would have thought? I told my cousin last week (she's about halfway through S1) and she was appropriately horrified at the thought. *lol*

I loved the phone conversation between Max and Liz (and Maria, Michael and Kyle!) I loved how Max narrowed his eyes at Michael to keep him quiet, and Liz's "Oh, and your dad, remember him?"

"We can't kill [Denny]". "Who says?" Well Michael, Max says. And Liz. Maria. Kyle. Isabel (if you asked her). The law. Oh, and common sense. You just can't go around killing people you suspect to be aliens (or who are indeed aliens possessing innocent people.) Didn't you want to kill Brody too? Remember him? Yeah, neither do the writers apparently. I know he's a good actor and is probably busy elsewhere, but couldn't they have Liz say something like "I bet it's a possession thing, like that whole Brody/Larek deal". Oh wait, that would have confused the newbies... Then they'd have to bring Kyle in and tell him what happened in "Off the Menu", which would cause someone to wonder, hey, where are Amy and Sean by the way, and we would all still be there (except Khivar and Vilandra, because they would have had plenty of time to leave.) Ok, I see your point.

So did Isabel actually plan on drinking that no-doubt alcoholic fruity-pineapply-thing with the umbrella? And last week at the wedding, didn't I see Max drink champagne? No weird alcohol-drinking alien side effects?

The "Jesse finds out" scene was a riot. At first I thought she was actually telling him, but at one point (around the time Michael said "other people know – like his girlfriend" and Max said "and his") it became too weird to be real, but it was still very funny. "Is this some kind of family practical joke?" "Constantly". *lol* And notice how Max strangely resembled Michael's Viva-Las-Vegas-Dream-Max in Isabel's little fantasy? Is that how they really see him?

The distinction is clearer when Isabel is being possessed by Vilandra then when Max is turning to his Zan side. Not sure what that means, just thought I'd throw it in there.

"So this is a closure thing?" Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Guerin, amateur psychologist! *lol*

Max changed his mind about not killing Denny when Isabel said Vilandra was strong and still in love with Khivar. He would kill an innocent man to protect his sister. That says a lot about Max.

If I were Jesse, I'd be mad at the alien mafia too. I mean, first the little investigation and now they're barging in on his honeymoon? Oh, and didn't Max look delighted when Isabel opened the door? "Hi!" "We're here to kill your boyfriend."

I don't know why, but Max and Michael hiding in the bush struck me as being very, very funny. I'm still laughing as I write this.

Why did Max ask Michael to take care of Jesse following them? Max's powers are a lot more developed (and fine-tuned) than Michael's. Was he just in King-mode? Same thing when he told him to get Denny out of there, though this time he has the excuse of wanting to check on Isabel.

Isabel's eyes were creepy. (cool special effect!) I had dreams about it all last night.

Khivar, I know you weren't here 2 weeks ago, but I've respectfully requested "no more throwing Max". I can write a memo if you'd like. Jason's stunt double is sure earning his salary this season!

Space travel through the worm-hole! They got that from Melinda Metz' book, didn't they? Cool. Max, dear, don't get any ideas now. Who knows how your human DNA would survive a trip like that.

What made Isabel stay? Jesse or Max?

How does Michael remember? Did Max teach the others the things Tess taught him about remembering? I think it's cool he remembers, I'd just like to know how.

Jesse forgot about everything and there was no mind-warp involved. Yay!

A word about alien sex. "That was different". I'll bet. But that's it? No other questions? Mmpph. Men.

I want to see Max and Michael scuba diving!!

Doesn't the street where Mr. Evans has his office look strangely similar to the street Maria parked on in Utah? ;)

Go Liz! Liz is my girl. I love it when she goes into Nancy Drew mode! Mr. Evans is pretty serious about this investigation, isn't he? I wish we could get a better look at everything he has. It's great someone noticed the Jeep was missing, and all of Max's school absences. Where did he find the ticket stub for the Empire State Building? Was Max careless enough to leave it lying around? There was something about "shooting" and "Valentis" I couldn't make out. I wonder if it's the Liz shooting (which would make sense) or the Kyle shooting, which would be scary, because if he knows about that, he's WAY too close. And was that a picture of Ferrini? We can't really see it because Liz is in front of it, but it looked like the photo the police showed Max. *shudder* Someone should do some damage control with Philip before he talks to the wrong people.

A word about next week. If that guy's name (the one who comes to see Maria) is Doug (ie the Doug mentioned in "Balance", that Maria kissed in 8th grade) I'm gonna send the writers some virtual flowers for remembering that. :) And please someone get me a screencap of Max in the boat. Drool. And Isabel: "I will tell you about Max". Without telling about yourself? Or just the "getting Tess pregnant" part without the alien details? Can we be next week already? Please?

Ok, I better go. I hope this made sense, I apologize for the shaky grammar. My brain has turned to mush after the day I had :) (and I promise to stop complaining about my job, too)
