My thoughts on Michael, the Guys and the Great Snapple Caper

What a title, eh? But it was a good title, because that's exactly what we got! Do you guys think it would help the show in any way if we started drinking loads and loads of Snapple? ;)

Oh my God, Michael's boss is the Stepfather! (Sorry, this is, like, a 8-year-old inside joke and I'm the only one who still gets it because, sadly, I've lost contact with the friend who shared it with me. But that guy played the Stepfather in a cheesy horror movie (there were 3 of them I think but I only saw #2.) He stabbed people with the little cake dudes that were on his wedding cake. If you get this joke, contact me ASAP! End of parenthesis). You know right there, this guy will be trouble!

I like Liz's letter to Max. It replaces the journal in a good way. Can we get a letter from Max to Liz next time? Who wants to bet Maria is the "postman"?

Carl calling Michael "Gweerin" was funny, and not nearly as annoying as everyone calling him "Guereen" in the French version. Guerin can be a French name too, is it so hard to pronounce? As you can see, the French version and I still don't agree.

I knew that at some point Max would think to go to Michael's to crash. But, Michael, how many times did Max let you sleep on his floor without saying anything? Bargaining for driving privileges of the car is not nice.

Oh, and how sweet was Max looking at Liz through the Crashdown window? Flashbacks to Season 1 meaningful soulful looks. Dreamer sigh. If they can't be together for now, more of those looks, please.

My favourite scene by far this week (surprisingly doesn't involve Max and/or Liz) is when Kyle ran into Isabel and Jesse at the convenient store. Let's do that one more time, but more uncomfortable *lol*. It was so much fun to watch. Boy, did I ever miss Kyle!!!

About Jesse, he's still ok this week. I've got my eyes on him, though. (said ever-so-paranoid Valerie)

Max making the little alien wave was about the cutest thing I ever did see. I loved all the sneaking around behind Mr. Parker's back and Liz's expression when she said she was just taking out the trash. I've been looking for a different way to wear my hair. It's the same colour and length as Liz's, so I always check how she wears it for inspiration. Something tells me I'll pass on the Princess Leia look from this week. It did look cute on her, though.

How great is it that Kyle still quotes Buddha? Oh, just about as great as it is that Isabel still doesn't want to hear it *lol* I *love* the Isabel/Kyle chemistry, and I hope they'll have more scenes together. Friendship is fine. (But if Jesse turns out to be evil, well, I don't rule out the other possibilities.)

One great thing about this week, no mention of the T- word. Though I thought Kyle might, especially when he said "My day isn't complete until my life has been threatened by an alien". So no one noticed she was missing. So what. He he he.

I hope Michael and Max can go a long, long time without another fight. They are so much fun to watch when they get along!!! That whole Snapple conversation was great. It reminded me of the Crouching Tiger/Matrix debate from last season. Max was making fun of Michael ("you stole Snapple. How can it be about principles?") and Michael didn't notice because he was too amazed that he actually cared about someone who was not an alien or Maria. So now Michael has friends. Who would have thought? Not Michael, apparently!

Speaking of his new buddies, does anyone know where I might have seen Steve and the geeky looking one with the glasses? It's driving me nuts.

Did I mention how great it was to see Kyle again? Yeah, I know I did, but it was great to see Kyle again! And now he's the dad. That whole "Where were you, have you been drinking" speech was great. And on the flip side, he also looked like a proud parent when Jim was on stage.

Speaking of which, he's a great singer! They could have come up with a better band name, and another place to play, maybe, but it was cool. And they sang a BNL song. It's Cancon, the CRTC will be happy. (another obscure reference I may be the only one to get... sorry. But Cancon is one of the stupidest government policies ever in this country.)

Who needs to watch "Smallville" when you have all the Superman references you could want in Roswell? ;)

So Carl turns out to be a bad guy. Why am I not surprised? You can't trust that Stepfather!!! Michael has trouble dealing with guns since he got shot in Tucson, doesn't he? Pre-shot Michael wouldn't have been scared so easily last week by guy-with-gun-and-bad-hat, or froze like he did this week. Then again, they had to cut to commercial, so who knows ;) But he's dealing with it, he discreetly used his powers to take care of Carl. He's getting better but he still needs some fine-tuning!

Stand-alone episodes are great but I would like to know how Max is dealing with the missing spaceship and the creepy FBI guys. I guess there's only so much you can do in 44 minutes, which brings me to my weekly request, can we make these shows longer?

Ah, Mr. Parker. I like you, I really do. But you have to lighten up. I know, your sweet little Lizzie has been jailed for armed robbery and it's because of mean, dangerous Max, but they'll never give up on each other. So give them a break. It's for your own sake, too. The sooner you'll realize that, the less gray hair you'll get. There's nothing you can do to keep them apart. Soon enough Liz will turn 18 and then nothing you say will matter. And it's a pretty safe bet they'll wait for each other until they can be together. (won't make *that* mistake twice)

Besides, Liz might be your little girl, but she's been in jail before. She broke into the school. And the bowling alley. And Max had nothing to do with that. She can get into trouble all on her own. And out of it, too, by the way.

"Can you tell me you're not dangerous, Max?" Well, yes, he could. "Can you tell me that being with you doesn't put my daughter in jeopardy?". Er... ok. You got a point there. But it's not Max's fault. He wouldn't let her die. Because you know, as a matter of fact, she did die, and this is the man you have to thank if you're still allowed to worry about your daughter. But I see your point. I really do. But you're fighting a losing battle. Just thought you'd like to know. – end of my letter to Mr.Parker-

Just to tell you how much I suspend my disbelief when I watch this show, for a split second I thought it would be cool if Mr. Parker did send Liz to Vermont because it's much closer to where I live than NM. How sad is that? *lol*. Of course then my brain kicked in and I remembered that A- She's a fictional character so it doesn't matter where she lives and B- They likely won't send the lead actress away. Still, it was mean of Mr. Parker to say that. (But I understand why he did.)

The question I have now is this: why don't they use the balcony? They didn't do it last week either. Is it because the set is still owned by the WB? Is it because Mr. Parker figured out what they were doing and removed the ladder? But then Max could just make one reappear. Why do they insist on coming in through where the parents can catch them?

I loved the flying. I'm glad we got to see it. I thought it had disappeared since the promo, like the giggling. It was fun to see M&L so happy. That grin on Max's face after Liz left said everything. That is, until Mr. Parker crushed him. Poor Max. Here's a hug.

This episode wasn't a plot-driven episode the way the Hybrid Chronicles were, for example, but more of a character development episode. Which is good. We need those too. Besides, I think the writers in general are better at this kind of episode. Or maybe it's just because I like them better. Who knows.

So I liked the episode very much, maybe even more than last week's, as a whole. I could have used more M&L but that's just me. If I had my way, they'd be in every shot, like that little UPN logo in the corner ;) I could definitely have used more Maria. What is she now, just Michael's girlfriend? Geez. I think Kyle has had more screen time so far this year. Not complaining about that, as I *think* I mentioned I missed Kyle. :)

That's it for now!
