Bartenders and bar customers can enjoy these tricks and stunts that can be performed in a pub and bar. Used to entertain or to impress in a pub or even to use in other environments and situations, there should be a fewt of these pub ticks that you can use when the opportunity is right , Materials and props for the tricks can usually be easily available in bars and pubs.

Static Cigarette Bar Trick

Here is a simple but very effective trick using a straw or a cigarette.

Lay a cigarette on a table and then explain to the people around the table about the art of static electricity.
Pull up your sleeve and rub your forearm vigorously. Then, putting your fingertips on the far side of the cigarette, pull your fingers slowly away from the cigarette. The cigarette will follow your fingers like a magnet .
No one will be able to do it, I've even had someone ask me if I could make it come toward me.
This can be done by cupping your hand slightly in front of the cigarette and the cigarette will come towards you .

Method: The trick is to blow slightly in front of the cigarette if you wish it to go away from you, following your hand.
If you wish it to come towards you, cup your hand slightly and blow on your hand while bringing it towards you on the table. The hand will reflect the air onto the cigarette which will come towards you .
This simple trick will fool many an adult. Do not be afraid of them discovering you blowing as they will be concentrating on the action on the table. The noise in the bar should make sure they do not hear you blowing.
Please practice the trick before trying it on your friends.

1) Rub finger on arm to "charge" it.

Mind Mimic

Effect : In this baffling routine the magician asks a member of the audience, a series of questions, a lot of them that are unique to that person. The spectator is asked to write each answer on a piece of paper and place the piece of paper in glass. At the same time, the magician is seen to be concentrating deeply and writing his prediction on a separate piece of paper which he also puts in another glass. After the last question has been asked, the magician's predicted answers are compared with the spectator's answers and are found to be the same. This can get an amazing reaction from the audience as the magician is seen to be able to read thoughts.

Method: The spectator is asked a series of questions and asked to write them on a piece of paper and place the piece of paper in a glass. After each answer has been placed in the glass by the spectator, the magician asks the spectator what answer they had given. The magician acknowledges that he had also predicted that answer and placed it in his glass.

Really, the magician writes the spectators answer one question behind. The spectator has told the magician, the answer to the last question asked which the magician will write and put in his glass after asking the next question. When the first question has been asked and the spectator reveals his answer, the magician has placed his supposed prediction in another glass at the same time. What he has actually written on his paper is " carrot " which is the most probable answer to the final question that the spectator will be asked shortly. The will allow the magician to write each answer as the spectator reveals it. The spectator will be unaware that the magician is writing his answers one question behind. Take out the papers from the glasses and pair up the answers. Stand back and watch the amazed expression of your onlookers.

Example Questions :

1) What is your favourite football team?	Manchester United	Carrot

You should find that most people will choose carrot as their choice of vegetable, however this will not always be the case. If they choose another answer then the audience will still be impressed that you have predicted the other answers.

Pint Glass Wonder

This is best done in a pub where you will find all of the required materials:
1 Fairly flat table
1 Pint of beer (preferably half full)
1 match
1 beer mat
1 set of half drunk mates and preferably a pub

Okay here's how it goes: Place the beer mat on the table and the match on the table along the left hand side of the beer mat .

Place the pint to the left of the match and, keeping part of the glass touching the table, tilt the glass to the left.

Whilst tilting it, push the beermat (and match ) using your right hand under the pint glass until the match touches the base of the glass.
Now holding the beer mat in place, tilt the glass back and forth until it balances against the match without having to hold it (this takes some practice).
Then pull the beer mat away with your right hand and wave it under the pint glass which appears to be balancing all on its own....magic !
Done properly, by wetting the bottom of the pint glass, the match will stick to it and you can lift it up and the match will come up with it.
Be warned though, the night could be totally ruined if the person you have been trying to get a date with for the last two weeks is facing the open end of the glass when it all goes horribly wrong.

People nudging the table will make this trick completely impossible and a steady hand is useful.   Have fun !!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Beer Can Floating On Air Trick

This bar trick is easy and very convincing, where a beer can appears to float in mid air .

Effect: A soda  / beer can can be seen to be stuck in mid air whilst the performer eerily moves his hand from the bottom to the top of the beer can to create the illusion that the can is suspended in mid air.

Preparation: None, the use of either a soda or beer can, oh and slightly greasy fingers may help although not compulsory.

Method: Hold the can in your hand, thumb on one side, fingers on the other, ( towards the bottom of the can ) , simply release your grip slightly and the can will start to slide downwards. When doing this, the hand needs to be gradually but slowly moving upwards , if the timing is right it will create quite a nice illusion that the can is suspended in mid air, the upward movement of the hand needs to be exactly the same as the downwards movement of the can .

Comments: This  is a very simple trick. It is all in the timing , therefore it is worthwhile spending some time at home practising. The result should be  a very visual trick which will have your onlookers dumbfounded and maybe they will even pay out a drink for you .

Bar Tricks - Dragon's Breath      

Preparation 1 glass, a matchbook, six coins, and an ashtray with water.

Objective: Bet your friends one drink that you can get the water out of the ashtray using only the ingredients mentioned and without moving or tilting the ashtray.

Method: Make sure ashtray is filled with at the most, a quarter of an inch of water. Stack the coins in the center of the ashtray so that the top two coins are above the water. Place four unlit matches on top of the coins. Light the matches and immediately cover the flame and coins with the glass. The water will be drawn into the glass. You win !!! collect your bets.

Anti Gravity Beer Bar Trick

Effect: An annoying person returns from the toilet to find that their bottle of beer has been turned upside down wthout any beer falling out. The bottle is then handed to them, when the beer spills all over the place .

Preparation: You need

A packet of cigarettes .
A full bottle of beer .
A beer mat .
Scissors.
A fast pair of running shoes.

Method: Take the plastic wrapper off the cigarette packet and cut a circle just big enough to cover the rim of the bottle.
Wet the rim and stick the plastic circle on top of the bottle.
Place a beer mat on top of the bottle and holding the beer mat in place, turn the bottle upside down.
Carefully remove the beer mat and the plastic should keep the beer inside the bottle.
When your friend returns, it will look like the beer is defying gravity.
While they are still amazed, ask them to take a seat and hand them the inverted bottle.
Tap the bottom of the beer bottle gently and run as fast as you can as your friend gets soaked with beer.

Bartender's Psychic Dice Trick An old bartenders favourite.  Ask a person to drop three dice in to a glass of water.  Then ask them to hold up the glass,add up the total of the numbers on the bottom faces of the dice and then put the glass back down.  You then dip your finger tips in the water, mystically rub them on your fore-head and magically tell your subject the total they have. What's The Secret? All you do is subtract the total of the three dice's upward faces from 21.   Remember opposite sides of a die total 7 and 3 x 7 is 21 .   The Three Dice Guessing Trick This is an impressive trick requiring some simple mathematics and three dice.  Choose a person and give them the three dice, and a pen and paper or calculator if their mental arithmetic isn't up to scratch.  Ask them to roll the three dice so that you can't see the resulting numbers (with your back to them or with a throwing cup to cover the dice).  Then ask the person to follow the simple steps listed below so that you can miraculously guess what the numbers thrown are.  For example if they have thrown a 3 , 6 , and 2 they... Multiply the number on the first die by 2                  6 Add 5                                                                   11 Multiply by 5                                                       55 Add the number on the second die - 6                     61 Multiply by 10                                                     610 Add the number on the third die - 2                        612 Subtract 125                                                        487 All you have to do is ask for the resulting number and subtract 125 from it.  This gives you a three digit value with each digit representing a number thrown on the dice. i.e. 487 - 125 = 362 or 3 - 6 - 2 .  Try and make this last step seem difficult, as if you are using some magical power.

 

Unbreakable Cigarette Trick

There are a number of tricks, involving cigarettes. This is a clever trick  that does not require you to smoke and where you can challenge your friends that you will be able to bend a cigarette in two, so that the ends touch, without breaking the cigarette.

Challenge : :         Bend a cigarette in two so that both ends touch, then straighten out the cigarette, leaving it whole and  unbroken.

You Will Need : A cigarette and a money note.

Secret: Roll the cigarette up tightly in the money note. You can then bend the cigarette so that both ends touch.  The cigarette, still in the note can then be straightened and the note unravelled to reveal the cigarette which  should  be whole and unbroken. The cigarette can then be passed around for examination .
