Public Notice No. 26/2000

    All the Custom House Agents who are holding regular CHA licence under Regulation 10 and temporary CHA licence under Regulation 8 of CHALR'84 are hereby informed that it has come to the notice of the Administration that some CHAs are lending stamps to unauthorised persons which is violative of the provisions laid down under CHALR'84. Further, the provisions contained under Regulation 20(7) of CHALR'84 envisages that 'the Custom House Agent shall exercise such supervision as may be necessary to ensure the proper conduct of any such employees in the transaction of business as agent and be held responsible for all act or omissions of his employees in regard to their employment'.

    Henceforth, if any report of lending CHA stamp to unauthorised persons or any other similar acts, violative of provisions of CHALR'84, come to the notice of the administration, the same will be seriously viewed and appropriate action for suspension / revocation of CHA licence under Regulation 21 of CHALR'84 shall be initiated against the concerned CHA.
