All the Custom House Agents who are holding temporary licences under Regulation 8 and regular licences under Regulation 10 of CHALR'84, as amended are hereby informed that the date of written examination under Regulation 9 of the Custom House Agents Licensing Regulation, 1984 and Custom House Agents Licensing (Amendment) Regulation, 1997 has been fixed on 25.05.2000 at 10 A.M. at Custom House, 15/1 Strand Road, Calcutta.
The actually engaged persons of the Custom House Agents holding temporary licence under Regulation 8 and who have not exhausted 3(three) chances available to them within a period of 2 years from the date of the issue of temporary licences may submit their names for appearing in the same examination. The Custom House Agents holding regular CHA licence under Regulation 10 may authorise one of their employees or partners or Directors to appear in the said examination in addition to the person of their agency who has passed the examination.
The criteria of the candidate so sponsored by a regular CHA licence is :-
(a) He should be a graduate from a recognised university.
General Guidelines
(a) The maximum marks for both written and oral test would be 100 and the minimum passing marks would be 50 in each test and the candidates would be required to pass separately in written and oral test in the said examination. Only those candidates who qualify in the written test would be called for the oral test.
(b) In case where holder of Temporary CHA licence fails to qualify in three attempts within a period of two years from the date of issue of their Temporary CHA Licence, their licences would automatically lapse with effect from the date of publication of the results of the written examination or the oral examination, as the case may be.
(c) Further, a fee of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) is required to be paid for a candidate intending to appear for the said examination. For this, money deposit slips may be obtained from Personnel & Establishment Department (CHA) from 1.5.2000 to 19.5.2000 between 3 to 4 P.M.
(d) Roll number and seating arrangement of the candidates would be put up on the Notice Board of Personnel & Establishment Department (CHA), Custom House, 15/1 Strand Road, Calcutta - 700001 on 23.05.2000.
(e) The application should be furnished in the prescribed proforma given at Annexure - I to this Notice for each candidate separately alongwith photocopy of the Custom Pass duly attested by the licence and proof in support of his educational qualification.
(f) The sponsoring letter, proforma form duly filled in (with proof of educational qualification & experience), Custom Receipt of deposit of Rs.500/- and 2 copies of passport size photographs duly certified by the sponsoring Custom House Agents should reach the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Personnel & Establishment, (CHA), Custom House, 15/1, Strand Road, Calcutta - 700001 positively by 10.05.2000 .
(g) Application received after 10.05.2000 will not be entertained.

ANNEXURE - I
INSTRUCTIONS :
1. Candidates who intend to appear for the examination on 25.05.2000 at 10 A.M. should be present at the examination hall at least half an hour before the scheduled time.
2. Candidates who intend to appear for the said examination should bring temporary/regular CHA licence and Customs Pass with them.
3. No books/notes or other papers of any kind shall be allowed to be taken inside the examination hall. Any attempt to indulge in malpractices during the examination shall automatically disqualify the candidate and Temporary/Regular Licence would be cancelled.
4. Candidates taking recourse to any unfair means in the examination hall shall render themselves liable for expulsion at the direction of the invigilator. No candidate shall intentionally or unintentionally extend or receive from any other candidate, any unfair assistance in the examination hall.
5. The examination will be for 3 hours duration and the timing will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1 P.M.
