History of QARL
The QARL was established in 1982 by a group of HAM enthusiasts to promote the Radio Communication Hobby. The team should be appreciated as they had laid the foundation for QARL to bring more and more people together and link this small city to the global network of HAMs. Since then many a people had taken up the ASOC examination and qualified to become Radio Hams. The fact is that most of the Hams in Kollam and others who head other such Hams club were once members of the QARL. The QARL had always been a platform for the new commers and the oldies eqally for the general advancement of amateur Radio Communication. QARL is completing its 20th year and during its cource it has conducted various activites like field days, fox hunt, demonstrations, ASOC Examinations etc. It also helped the Kollam District Administration during disasters.
HAMFEST LOGO
The Hamfest India, 2006 will be conducted on 9th and 10th September, 2006 at Jaladarshini Auditorium, Thevally, Kollam. This time the event will be conducted by the Quilon Amateur Radio League in connection with the silver jubilee celebrations of the club. The Hon’ble Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Vayalar Ravi has kindly consented to inaugurate the function. Delegate fee: The delegate fee is fixed at Rs.400/- per head. Early Bird registration: Those who register before 31st July, 2006 needs to pay Rs.350/- only. The M.O or DD in favour of “The Quilon Amateur Radio League, Kollam” may be sent to Mr. K.G.Nadarajan, VU2KGN, Pattathuvila, Kadappakkada, Kollam – 691 08. Those who reserve the railway tickets are advised to get the return tickets confirmed since it is the festival season (Onam festival). All are welcome to Kollam. Lake City Phone Contest
The Quilon Amateur Radio League conducted the Lake City Phone contest for  MAH Memorial Rolling Shield on 11th and 12th March, 2006 on 40M band. The name of  WINNERS:

10th Kerala VHF Fox Hunt
The QARL conducted the 10th Kerala VHF Fox hunt on Sunday, the 16th April, 2006 at Cochin.  Six teams participated.
