Letter from Jeeva Nagar, Mangadu plot owner published in The Hindu Reader's Mail on September 26, 2005

A request to Mangadu panchayat

Jeeva Nagar, a couple of hundred metres off Mount-Poonamalee Road and coming under Mangadu Panchayat, is a CMDA-approved layout (PPD LO: 134/2003). The developer has formed `kutcha' roads and made over the open space reservation (OSR) land to the local panchayat, to fulfil the plan approval conditions.

The Mangadu Panchayat, however, has not physically taken possession of the OSR land, duly marking it as a community resource, to be used as two parks as shown in the approved layout document.

We request the panchayat to fence off the OSR land, plant trees in it and take steps to lay permanent roads from the neighbouring Audco Nagar, Kattupakkam, to prevent encroachment. The panchayat must install at least a few streetlights to begin with for security now that plot owners have started residing here.

S. Padma, Jeeva Nagar, Mangadu panchayat
