YFC Marches On ...

It has all the dimensions of a trivial mustard seed! At a time when the euphoria in the country ringed around political freedom capturing the imagination of the youth like a raging fire, calling these youngsters to Christ was like whistling in the windstorm. But, with our Lord, all things are possible. On April 7, 1947, Easter Monday, Calcutta's Chowringee Street where the Tiger Cinema is, had a programme of a different nature. The Rev. Cyril Thomson and Rev. Walter Cortell conducted a youth rally for Christ. The results were amazing. India Youth for Christ was born.

The flame gathered momentum. By 1953, work spread to the major cities of India. The unimaginable response from the younger generation received a further impetus in 1956 with the visit and rallies of Dr. Billy Graham. In 1959, Madras City hosted the YFC International 10th World Congress. India YFC's National Festivals are held once in every four years.

Today YFC marches on. Geared to the times and anchored to the Rock is our inspiring story. The mustard seed is growing into a tree of great size. We have 29 Centres with 85 staff, each committed to the concept of reaching every young person in every people group in the country. "For Lo! I am with you even unto the end of the world."
