You would not believe the adventure that Chloe and I had recently. On Friday, March 19, 1999 (two days after Chloe's 19th birthday!) Chloe flew to Denver International Airport. She arrived at about 6 pm. Ashlee and I drove to the airport together to go get her. Once we got to the airport, I was distracted as we went through the metal detector and forgot that my purse was going through the X-ray machine. The guy had asked me to show him that my pager changed screens so as soon as I had done that, Ashlee and I ran down the stairs to the train that would take us to Chloe's gate. We had just gotten off the train at Chloe's concourse when it struck me that I had forgotten my purse! Ashlee and I ran back to the train, took the train back to the metal detectors, and frantically asked about my purse. Fortunately there was a station close by that acted as a lost and found, and my purse was right there, and I easily proved it was mine by telling them what kind of penlight I had hanging from the side...
Off to the gate again, where we got Chloe. Then the three of us headed to Macaroni Grill, where we met Chris and had a nice dinner. After I dropped Ashlee off at home, Chloe and I went to bed. We woke early the next morning, packed up the car, including Pandora, and headed off on our journey to California. Unfortunately, we didn't quite make it.
Six hours into the drive, the screw that holds the rotor inside the distributor in my engine came off and my car broke down. Of course, we didn't realize what was wrong at the time, all we knew was that the car didn't work. (I had a guess that it was something within the distributor somewhere because what we had just experienced was very similar to a problem I'd had with this car before and that ended up being the distributor...) We quickly realized also that my cell phone couldn't pick up a signal and that the CB was out of batteries. It seemed hopeless! But a kind, wonderful, generous person named Kristina stopped for us and helped us out. She brought us to her town (Lymon, Wyoming - I dare you to find it on a map!) and let us stay the night until our car was repaired. My dad drove from CA to help us and followed me back to my house to make sure I got there safely. This was Monday night by the time we got back. Then he and Chloe headed off to California again and I stayed home.
o/~ I love my sister, she's the best...
