More Season 02 Info From Megchan's Digimon Newsletter. Link at the end of the page:
The new series takes place in the future, in the year 2002, three years after the adventures of Tai and the others. Everyone is older, T.K. and Kari are now in 5th grade, the same age Tai and the others were when they had their adventures. The older kids are now all in junior high and busy with clubs and studying. Although the older kids make appearances in 02 (Tai and Izzy seem to have the most free time and are in almost every episode), the focus is mainly on Kari and T.K., along with three new kids, Cody, Davis and Yolei.
In addition, there's a new enemy, The Digimon Kaizer, and lots of new Digimon and new evolutions using Digimental Armor. With Armor Evolution, Digimon are no longer limited to just one evolution, they can evolve into many different Digimon, depending on which Digimental they use.
Not only that, but since time now runs the same in the DigiWorld as in the real world, the children can go to the DigiWorld after school and still be home in time for dinner.
THE LEADER:
This Has Been Moved To:Here!THE COMPUTER WHIZ:
-Izzy isn't the only DigiDestined who's into computers.Yolei is also a member of the computer club. But it's not just computers, she loves anything mechanical. Miyako is a bit spoiled and flighty, she might remind you of Mimi. In fact, when she finally gets to meet Mimi, she feels she's found a soulmate!Because her family owns a convenience store, Miyako is always the one to provide snacks for the DigiDestined on their trips to the DigiWorld. Athough she is the oldest of the new DigiDestined, she is the baby of her family and that hasn't taught her much responsibility.
Her Digimon:
-Yolei's Digimon is Hawkmon. For the first time, a DigiDestined has a partner Digimon of the opposite sex. That's right, Hawkmon is a boy.He feels it's his duty to protect Yolei, just like a knight protecting the princess. With the Digimental of Love, Hawkmon can evolve into Horusmon and with the Digimental of Sincerity he can evolve into Shurimon.

THE RESPONSIBLE ONE:
-Although he's the youngest, Cody is usually the one who manages to talk the others out of doing something stupid. He's also the one who makes sure that they come back from the DigiWorld in time for dinner so that they don't worry their parents.Although he doesn't look like the athletic type, Cody studies kendo, traditional Japanese fencing. Despite the fact that they're total opposites, he and Yolei are good friends and live in the same apartment building.
His Digimon:
-Cody's Digimon is Armadillomon. This cute little armadillo can put up a good fight, although his thoughts are more likely to be on hims stomach than on fighting. When he uses the Digimental of Knowledge, Armadimon can evolve into Digmon and with the Digimental of Reliability, he can evolve into Submarimon.

*** *** *** *** RETURNING FAVORITES *** *** *** ***
Yeah the new DigiDestined Do Rock, but what about T.K. and Kari?
T.K.:
-T.K is no longer the same shrimpy little crybaby he was when we first met him. He's gotten quite tall and is the star of the basketball team. Girls are always after him, but he doesn't seem very interested. In the first episode of 02, he and his mom have moved back to Odaiba, but his parents did not get remarried. Although Davis sees T.K as a rival, T.K would just as soon be friends with the other boy.
His Digimon:
-Because of the lock the Digimon Kaizer has placed on evolution, Patamon cannot evolve to Angemon if there is a Black Tower in the area. He can, however, use the Digimental of Hope to evolve to (I Love This One!! - Horsemon.) Pegasmon!Check out this link to see more detailed stats on T.K. From Megchan! http://www.megchan.com/digimon/profiles/takeru.html
Kari:
-Kari has grown, too, and is no longer the sickly little girl she was before. Her hobby is photography and she carries a digital camera around her neck at all times.Kari knows that Daisuke likes her and so takes every opportunity to take T.K.'s side just to make Davis upset.(and in the words of mimi and sora: "Girl Power!" - Horsemon.)
Her Digimon:
-As with Patamon, Gatomon cannot evolve to Angewomon when there's a Dark Tower around. Instead she uses her Digimental of Light to evolve to Nefertimon.Because Gatomon lost the ring she wears on her tail, she is not as powerful as she was before.

*** *** *** *** THE OLDER KIDS *** *** *** ***
OK, so what happened to the other kids? What are they doing now that they aren't DigiDestined anymore?
Tai:
-Tai seems to have a lot of free time on his hands. He makes an appearance in almost every episode of 02. He often helps out the younger kids in their quest. When he's not going to the Digital World, he's still playing soccer. Tai has really grown emotionally in these three years. He's much calmer and less likely to act without thinking.
Sora:
-Sora does not appear as much as Tai.That might be because she's busy with sports (she's given up soccer and now plays tennis) and with learning flower arranging from her mother.Izzy:
-Although Izzy has grown quite a bit, he's still short compared to the other kids.Along with Tai, Izzy seems to have a lot of free time and appears to help the new DigiDestined in almost every episode. He's still into computers and is curious about the new Digivices and other items of the new DigiDestined.
Matt:
-Matt has given up playing the harmonica and now is the vocalist and bass player for a rock band. He's very popular and girls are always running up to him wanting his autograph. One of his biggest fans is Daisuke's older sister.Mimi:
-Mimi and her parents now live in America, on the East Coast. Although she's far away, she still keeps in contact with the other kids through email and comes back to visit them in Japan every once in a while. While away she dyed her hair pink, her favorite color!Joe:
-Joe is the only one who doesn't go to the same school as the other kids. Instead he goes to a private junior high (guess all that studying paid off!). Now he's busy studying to get into a good high school.More info From Megchan!

*** *** *** *** THE DIGIMON KAIZER *** *** *** ***
The new enemy in the Digital World is not a Digimon, but a human boy! This boy calls himself the Digimon Kaizer and believes that it is his right to take over the Digital World and enslave all Digimon. His tools are the Black Digivice, the Evil Rings, and the Dark Towers.
Using the Black Digivice he placed a lock on evolution so that no Digimon can evolve and thus are powerless to opppose him. Then he captures them and puts Evil Rings around them, making them his slaves. The final step is to build a Dark Tower in each area. The Dark Towers amplify the power of the Black Digivice and Evil Rings, allowing the Kaizer to keep control of an area even when he's not there. Once the Dark Tower is destroyed in each area, the Digimon are free from his control and are able to evolve again, but only within that area.
If they travel to another area where a Dark Tower still stands, they are just as powerless as before. The only way the new Digimon can evolve is by using their Digimental armor, which cannot be controlled by the Kaizer's Black Digivice.
In the real world, the Digimon Kaizer is a boy named Ken. He's a genius, good at school, sports, everything. The DigiDestined first hear about him when he is being interviewed on TV after having won a computer programming contest.
Little do they know the sweet, obedient boy they see on TV is actually the evil Digimon Kaizer! Ken thinks that because he's a genius, everyone else is beneath him and not worth his time. He even thinks this of his own parents.
Name: Ichijouji Ken
Title: Digimon Kaizer
Age: 11
Grade: 5th
School: Tamachi Elementary School
His Digimon:
-Ken's partner Digimon is Wormmon. Ken doesn't think that Wormmon is worth his time either, and is pretty horrible towards him.But Wormmon loves Ken and so obeys his every command. He doesn't like hurting others, but if it's a choice between obeying Ken and hurting another Digimon, he'll choose Ken every time.
He's secretly jealous of Davis and Veemon because they're such good friends.
