a Point of View
(http://www.labofabyll.com/forum/threadid.php?threadid=1823)
Rock left Robot
Rescue, telling most of them he was going to visit some ally friends. In
reality, he was hoping to run into that ninja again and get a few things off his
chest. This was something even ProtoX shouldn't get involved in because he still
had a problem with betraying the Maverick Hunters.
After walking a mile
down the city, Rock sat on a bench at a park, elbows on his legs, his head
resting on his hands, listening to the children playing far behind him. The
thought of actually trying to convince Robot Rescue to turn over was weighing
heavily on him because most of the volunteers are still afraid to do so...even
the President despite all the artiliary known to man he had holed up inside of
him.
Sine looked at the
departing Kage. Sandstar puts his hand on her shoulder.
"You know he is
right. What if Zero does start to kill off his troops after this war is over and
he wins? Even if we somehow manage to escape, would you be satisfied knowing we
might be some of only a handful of survivors?" Sandstar asks her.
"Sand, at
this point, I don't know what to think."
Sandstar turns around and starts to
head back towards the base.
"Atleast think about what he is saying. For now,
lets just get back to base."
Looking off in the direction Kage disappeared in
one last time, Sine turns and follows Sandstar back.
There was a
chilling wind suddenly starting up around Rock before Kage made his prescence
known,leaping down from a lamppost.
"still comtemplating old
pal?"
Rock: Somewhat.... But even if I do want to get away from Zero, I still have the whole center to worry about. Even the armed reploids are too scared to leave.
"what size do you think the maverick...heh our base is,its easily large enough to keep your guys sheltered"
Rock: I guess, but trying to convince a center full of humans and reploids is going to be difficult. I mean, I am mostly a hero during times where X and Zero couldn't fight, but even a hero can't always get what he wants....
As soon as they got
back to base, Sine and Sandstar split up. "Ok Sine, get some rest, we are going
to have a long talk when we both can talk straight."
"But Sand-"
"Now
Sine."
"Oh, alright, for now."
Sandstar watches Sine until she goes down
the stairs to her quarters. "Sorry, Sine, but Im going to find out a little bit
more about the Mavericks," he whispers under his breath as he heads back
out.
"Damn this is boring!" Flair complained, not having any luck. "Where's a maverick when you need one?" She landed in a small community and set her hand ablaze to scare them. "Show me any Mavericks you house! Now!" She yelled at some guy.
An old man waddled
out.
"excuse me son, could you speak a bit louder, the years have been
cruel to my senses"
---
Kage shrugged.
"perhaps,but your
going to have to make a decision sooner or later...in this war Zero has made all
accountable..."
Rock looked down,
rubbing one of the tails in his ribbons.
Rock: I guess I could work
something out.... (He gets up and turns to leave)
"Oh you have yet to experiance true cruelty," Flair growled, "if you do not tell me where I can find mavericks."
"huh...oh just down
the road theres a shop there, fella sells them"
"sells
them?"
"yea,parakeets,isn`t that what you wanted?"
"Are you crazy!?"
the president cried when Rock came in and suggested joining the mavericks, "I so
much as rip our contract with the hunters and we'll be the first people hunted
down because we're the only robot repair center in the city!"
Rock:
Please, at least give me half of the center that's willing to call it quits with
this nightmare we used to call a savior to all of mankind! What we thought were
kind soldiers are now nothing more than deadly monsters that will come after us
no matter what we do after the war is over!
"Rock, I know you've been a
hero for over the years when X and Zero haven't the stength to fight, but to
have you coming in here and demanding that we switch sides now is certain
suicide! I'm not going to have so much as even your own working place turn over
that easily!"
Rock snarled and grabbed him by his business suit, yanking
him to his face.
Rock: Listen, you cowering pile of circuits! How long do
you think we'll last when the war is over! Zero isn't the kind of person we all
trusted in the past! Even if we help him take out the mavericks, he'll still
come after us for blood and entertainment! Do you want to risk that
instead!?
The President stuttered as he looked at the determined look on
Rock's face. He then dropped his head, sobbing. Rock sighed and threw him back
in his chair.
Rock: Look, everyone is scared of what might happen if we
leave now. I'm just asking that you allow those who aren't afraid to seek
freedom to come with me. Even my lab are willing to risk an early death to get
away from Zero. It's not just reploids working here. We have a bunch of
innocent, defenceless humans who are shaking in the corner when they aren't
working on an injured reploid.
"B-But...."
Sand was just
walking around, looking for signs of Mavericks. "Geez, how am I supposed to ask
them any questions if I cant even find one?" he mutters to himself as he
continues his seach.
((oops, I cant believe I did that. Guess I
was thinking more about Sine.))
Flair almost
exploded. Then managed to restrain himself.
"Fuck it." She snapped her
fingers, setting the entire village on fire. "You're grandchildren can thank you
for their scars, if they survive." And with that she took off in another
jump.
A beam of black carved through the air, just skimming past Flair as someone leaped at her.Red scarf trailing behind him,as the people on the streets struggled to control the blaze.
Rock groaned and
left. He knew the president was someone you couldn't get in trouble even if he
wanted to. But he did allow him to take his own lab (Who was eager to get away
from Zero). When the President gathers up what courage he could muster, he and
the rest of the lab would follow Rock (Whenever that happens).
When he
returned to Lab 14 and gave the news, he noticed that ProtoX hasn't returned
yet.
Fig: I guess he's still blowing his steam. We'll leave a note on the
door when he gets back. I'm sure he too wants to get out of here as
well.
Rock: I don't know...he seemed determined to help the hunters no
matter how uncomfortable he felt or what might happen when the wars
over.
Skie: You can do without him for now, Rock. I'm sure we'll run into
him later.
Gato: Yeah! Let's get out of here before another Hunters comes
in here and drops in on our conversation.
Rock was silent for a moment,
but slowly nodded as they grabbed what they could carry (Including the
incomplete program) and left.
Flair was too
shocked to do anything but continue her foreward momentum. The only thing going
through her mind when she landed was that whoever had almost just killed her
could have, but didn't.
In an instant she was back at the
village.
"What the hell do you want Kage?" She was furious. "I'm gonna
start killing these people one by one until you face me unlike the coward that
you are!"
Landing in front of
Flair he folded his arms, scarf billowing in the wind.
"that was just a
warning shot, tell me,do you know what the main objective a hunter
has?"
"...."
"To safeguard those who cannot defend themselves..not
to slaughter those who are weaker in combat just to draw out your foe....tell
me,how can you dare to call me a coward when you pick on those who are
defenseless?"
"I don't give a shit about the hunters. Just watching out for number one." Flair crossed her arms. "I hate to admit it but Zero's more than able to kill me, and unlike you he'll do it."
Mai woke up with a
small yawn, and looked out through the air where there used to be windows, and,
for that matter, a wall. Right about then, she saw a large fire spontaneously
appear far off in the distance. "Why do I get the uneasy feeling my new friend
has something to do with that...?"
She idley flicked the cigarette stub that
had been lying in her hand while she slept over in Crashmanga's
direction.
"and he will...do you really think a crazed madman will give a shit about who fought for him, after this is over there isn`t going to be anyone left standing, except for Zero unless my side defeats, you may be looking out for yourself in the short term, but in the long run your going to wind up dead if you stay by his side"
The Lab 14 group could see a something in the distance as they made their way towards the Maverick Base. Curious, they decided to follow after it and see what was going on.
"...." Flair pouted, frusterated.
Still wandering around, Sandstar sees something in the distance, and much like the Lab 14 group, decides to investigate it. "Hmph. Finally some Maverick activity at last."
Sine entered her
somewhat destroyed room to find her roommate, Rayna, sitting on her bed looking
bored.
"Where were you?" Sine asked, "You missed all the excitement."
The
silver haired reploid sighed, "I was running a courier mission, long story, and
I'm not supposed to share."
Sine shrugged as she sat down beside Rayna, "I'm
tired, are you going to move so I can get some rest?"
Rayna moved to a
battered chair. There was only one simple bed in the room, but since Rayna and
Sine normally ran opposite shifts, they rarely had any problems. "I have a tech
shift in an hour or so, so I guess I shouldn't get too
comfortable."
"Whatever," Sine muttered.
Sandstar walked carefully
down the street towards the group, when he heard a large crash from a nearby
ruined warehouse. "What the hell?" He looked after the group for a minute,
before turning to investigate the sound.
Sand drew a small explosive from his
belt. As he pushed open the door, he heard a light tenor voice muttering
something about unstable walls, and a large wave of dirty water covered him.
Slipping on a puddle, he fell down face first into the puddle of water now
surrounding him,"Ick!"
"What are you doing here!? I just mopped that area,
and here you are getting it dirty again!" the voice demanded.
Looking up from
his undignified position, Sand didn't see the owner of the voice until a small
figure in blue and green armor walked forward from the shadows. "Who the hell
are you?" Sand spat out.
"I asked first," the reploid knelt down to get a
closer look at the Hunter.
"No... I..." Sand finally noticed several things
about this particular reploid. First, the reploid was holding a mop defensively
in front of him. Second, he had a small Maverick symbol on his shoulder armor.
And third, the eyes of the the Maverick were not quite right, in fact, in Sand's
opnion, the reploid was most likely very insane.
The group arrived
at the village to find it still burning (OOC: If it still is, otherwise, I might
change it). Gato put her huge paws to her mouth and whimpered like an upset cat
while Rock and Fire-Star ran towards the village to help out those that haven't
been burnt alive in the village.
EDIT: Whoops! I forgot, ProtoX didn't go
with them ^^;;;;
Kage took a good look at the scene, before taking one final glare at Flair and leaping off, going from building to building until he was out of sight.
Rock and Fire-Star
emerged from the flames, carrying barely or seriously burnt civilians and handed
them to Gato and Skie. But they weren't sure where to take them to get them away
from the fire and out of any hunter's sight.
ProtoX leaned against a
tree in the deepest part of the park. When the president told him that Lab 14
had left for the mavericks, he wasn't too pleased. He didn't think that
Rock...his own brother...would convince the president to do such a thing. And
what's worse was that Rock had most of the parts needed to not only revive X
when the time came, but the program to overide any abnormal behavior in the
hunters had also disappeared with them.
This upsetted him. He knows how
dangerous mavericks are. If Rock were to give them the plans and the programing,
they might corrupt it and ruin any chance of changing the world back to the way
it was.
"Ah, crap..." Sandstar thought to himself as he stared at the crazy maverick, reaching for some of his grenades. "This could end up very badly indeed...."
ProtoX jumped off
the tree and left the park. His main thought was to find Rock and save him from
a mistake he blindly walked into. But why start there? Why not try and hack into
Maverick Base, grab any informantion he could, and then plant a virus into the
Computer Mainframe that will crawl around the network and bring some of the
systems into a total melt down.
With this in thought, he returned to
Robot Rescue and sat in front of the computer, typing like mad as a structural
grid in the form of a centepide appeared on the screen in front of
him.
Rock and Fire-Star managed to pull the last of the shaken
civilians out of the fire while Gato and Skie tried to tend to them with a first
aid kit that was emptying out faster than water down a drain.
Gato:
What're we going to do!? We need more medical supplies for the
humans!
Skie: If ProtoX was with us, he could've done something about
this. But I don't think he even knows we left! I'll have to try and find a city
around here with a store that sells more bandages. (He gets up and runs
off)
After taking her nap, Sine gets up and starts to wander around the base, looking for Sandstar. "Hrm, thats odd," she says to herself. "He should have been back by now...." Looking at her watch, she starts wondering if she should get a search party to look for him.
Slipping unseen
through the corridors of the maverick base he seemed more a stealthy intruder
than one of their soldiers, finally arriving outside Sigmas chambers he
entered, looking at the frail withered form of the resistences
leader.
"reminds me of France..."
"ah...Kage...I heard from
several of the recon squads about the blaze"
"and?"
"I`ve sent as
many people as I can spare to douse the flames...I only hope the hunters leave
us be to save as many as we can"
"thats very doubtful...the blaze itself
was instigated by them"
"yes I know, soon that area will be crawling with
Zeros handpicked goons to wipe us out...thats why I want you there"
"I
was planning on doing so anyway"
"then why did you come here?"
"I
have a few things to pick up...also,we may have some new recruits
joining...skeptical but I`m hoping they`ll open their eyes"
"...a strange
thing fate...thank you for informing me Kage...I only wish I could join you all
out there"
"About that,in the next week you should be repaired enough to
walk around without help"
"one of the technichians tell you that
Kage?"
Without a reply Kage was gone,Sigma sighing as he reclined further
in his chair, his body almost useless at this time.
---
Pouring out
from the manholes and basements came a hoard of what were termed as
'mavericks',each one carrying as much fire fighting tools as possible, many
overweighted by the bulk of the old equipment but they all scrambled to get to
the fire as fast as possible.Kage watched, high above them, raising an old
fashioned telescope to his eye he gazed at the immediate area, keeping an eye on
those who had realised the truth.
Finally not finding
anyone to help her look for Sandstar, Sine walks out of headquaters and starts
looking for him. "This is gonna be a long night.... "
Meanwhile.....
Sandstar was staring at the maverick he came across. The crazy reploid was
still holding the mop like he will attack him with it.
"Now who the hell are
you?" the maverick asks again.
"Fine, I'll tell ya," Sandstar replies. "My
name is Sandstar. Now return the favore and tell me your name."
Still not
relaxing, the maverick looks up at him and says "My name is Chore. Im the
janitor around these parts."
"Um... ok... Chore, can you answer some
questions for me?" Sandstar asks.
"Depends on what ya wanna know."
"Just
some things about the Mavericks in these parts."
Chore thinks about this.
"Hey, you aren't one of those Maverick Hunters are ya?"
Deciding that lying
might be better then making this crazy maverick angry, Chore tells him no.
Nodding, Chore says, "Follow me, we'll talk in a more comfortable
place."
He then turns around and walks deeper into the building. Look a
little hesitant, Sandstar runs to catch up to him.
With the viral
centepede completed, ProtoX hits a button, causing it to vanish. As it slithered
through the network, searching for Maverick base, those who own computers began
to notice three second blackouts before everything was back to normal. The
centepede soon entered the first section of Maverick Bases computer
system.
It's thirst for deletion caused it to go running around, looking
for things to annialate with it's viral, venomous fangs.
Not waiting
for Skie to come back, Rock, Gato and Fire-Star began hoisting the wounded one
by one and dragged them somewhere away from the burning village. Some of the
people were crying in fear. The trio tried to assure them that nothing bad was
going to happen and that help will be here soon.
The virus` thirst
however was unsatisfied, due to the ruination of the maverick base the only
computer systems that had been repaired and hooked up were inventory lists which
had yet to be filled out.It caused some confusion to the few Mavs left defending
the base but even Sigma barely noticed its influence.
---
Zero
paced back and forth with his beam saber in his hand, looking over his shoulder
several almost identical reploid soldiers looked back at him.
"that fire
out there"
"....."
"Its not burning bright enough, three of you go
and sort that small problem out"
"...."
Without a word the
brainwashed armoured hunters walked out,a red tint in their eyes as they made
their way to the village.
---
Catching sight of the approaching
Hunter APC Kage quickly put away the telescope and tightened his scarf before
leaping down onto the streets. The second his feet touched the ground he darted
off down the road,to those watching as they were dragged from the blaze he
seemed to disappear and reappear further ahead. Finally reaching his target
location he lept into the air and formed his buster, firing a charged shot he
carved through the APC with a black beam. The vehicle exploding with its cargo
quickly dispearsing into the streets.Firing at him as he came to the
ground.
As she was looking
for Sandstar, Sine notices the fire in the distance.
"Hrm... that looks
bad..." she mummers to herself. "And knowing Sand, he is probably right in the
middle of it.."
Realizing that he might be there, she starts running to the
village.
ProtoX sat in the
dark room of the 14th lab, the only light in the room was the bright screen of
the computer which the centepede was seeing crawling around and looking for more
programs to eat.
This bore him. There wasn't that much information in the
base and the centepede wanted to feed on something.
He decides to
reprogram the centepede to do another task. If he can get it to fuse with the
computers and cause the wires connecting them to rip out, grab any robot that
came in contact with it, and drain their energy until their nothing but lifeless
shells.
It was going to take him a while to do this, but he didn't care.
The volunteers walking past Lab 14 noticed that there was barely any light on.
They wanted to check and see what was going on, but something caused their guts
to turn, forcing them to turn and walk away, pretending nothing was
happening.
An abbandoned cabin a mile from the blaze served as a
temparary resting spot for the injured civilions. While Gato and Rock staid
behind to try and wash the burned wounds away, Fire-Star ran back out to pick up
more people.
Since he's the only one who can change into a fire-proof
robot at will, Fire-Star is the only one who can try and go back into the
reckage and find anyone else that might be stuck in either a burning building or
calapsed on the floor from heat excaustion or the choking from the
smoke.
Rock stood outside the cabin, keeping an eye on any Maverick
Hunter that happen to find the cabin and want to burn it down. He knew he
couldn't last if a whole army came after him, but he risked it until help
came.
Flair had been
walking along ancient highway. It was strange, seeing one so.. primitive, made
of cement and completely on the ground. She shook her head,
wondering.
She tried to give serious consideration to Kages words, but
part of her kept insisting tha he was lying.
why would he lie?
She wondered.
He's a maverick. They're all insane. Who else would go
up agains Zero?
She flinched. Zero's name was like poison, even in
her thoughts.
I'm not afraid of that arrogant butfu- She was
interrupted from her thoughts when she noticed something at her feet. It sparked
and sizzled, causing her to jump.
Kneeling down, she saw that it was some
kind of reploid, severed in two. It had an opaque blue visor and a strange
helmet. It also had a wheel instead of legs. Upon closer inspection, she saw
that it had an encryption that read:
Lt. Icarus
3rd Squadron
Long
live the Hunters
She opened the decesed's head and found that it was
replaying the last few seconds of the hunter's life. It was the same landscape
before her now, except viewed from the ground, on the side. Also there were
buildings in the distance, and it was night.
"You'll never get away with
this."
"What are you going to do Icarus? You're dead. Besides, you've
killed mavericks all your life."
"I trusted you Zero!"
"That was
stupid."
Static.
Over and over.
"You'll never get away with
this."
"What are you going to do Icarus? You're dead. Besides, you've
killed mavericks all your life."
