To be an Air Troop you don't have to spend all of your time flying or gliding! The Troop can also spend its time building flying model aircraft, helicopters or model rockets. Some Troops hone their flying skills on computer based flight simulators.
Air Troops can arrange tours of local Canadian Air Force Bases, local airports, and Air Traffic control Centres. An Air Troop does not require its own aircraft to take part in aeronautical based programming.
Air Explorers have eight specific proficiency badges which, through the details of the requirements, make many suggestions for activities which should find their place in the program of the Troop.
Air Explorers were originally formed in the United Kingdom in 1941, and now, nearly 67 years later still provide our youth with an outlet for their imagination.
The Air Troops wear distinctive uniforms of a light blue shirt and air force blue berets. To find out about joining, or forming, an Air Troop in your area, please e-mail our HQ Commissioner for Air Activities using the link below.
