FOR

Crocshop - "World"

I will be reviewing "World" by CrocShop. These guys have been around for a while. Formally know as Crocodile Shop. I will try to be unbiased as they recently put on a spectacular live show at the Lab.

The music is definitely electronic. There is a definite danceable feel to the CD. Some spots tend to boarder the 'too happy' category, but this seems to be limited to only a couple of tracks. There are good use of sample which are not over done. There is unfortunately a lack of a serious driving beat in some songs which tend to have the feel that they're just happening and not really going anywhere. There are a couple tracks that have some serious potential though and seem to be on the verge of being really good tracks. There are also three remixed versions of songs on the CD, these are nothing special but two of which are the most listenable tracks on the CD one is a remix of 'World' by fellow Tinman labelers "Dubok", but by far the track with the greatest potential is the last track which is a remix of 'Tragedy' which is remixed by "Sub Grav". This track, in it's remixed form, definitely has club play potential.

Overall this CD ranks as OK. If your a collector nut like myself who will buy CD's for one song, the last track might peak your interest, however, despite there great live performance the CD as a whole is a little lacking. Maybe 'Tragedy' will come out on a single which would be a much more worth while purchase.

Worth a listen if you get a chance.
