FOR
E Nomine - "Finsternis"
I will be reviewing "Finsternis" by 'E Nomine'.
This as far as I know is the Second release by this band. The first is "Das
Testament" and is pretty much Identical to "Finsternis". This is a great concept
for music. To best describe both of these albums, you would have to imagine
combining a dance beat with church music to a great effect. In a way this entire
album resembles "Apotheosis'" 'O Fortuna' with out the techno. There are no
super high energy mixes but have an extremely sac religious feel.
The album is sung exclusively in German. There are religious sounding quotes
being spoken over a dance beat which is bing played over cathedral music with
very dramatic effect. This album almost has am evil operatic feel to it. The
most Dancy track on this album is "Mitternacht" track 2 (Midnight in English).
Had this existed back in the day, this would have made a great sound track for
Damien to kill to in "The Omen".
Over all, all Goths MUST own these. Very dark, sac religious and dancy at the
same time. The first album is virtually identical and also a worth while
purchase. I highly recommend not listening to this CD until your alone, in the
dark with surround sound, and let it take you on an operatic trip.
Very cool concept and very good listening.
