Scarecrow - "Outcry"
This is a review of "Outcry" by the band Scarecrow. I bought
this CD on a whim but after having listened to it. I have never heard of
Scarecrow before and I am unsure if previous releases exist. I have also heard
very little about this album since.
This Albums in my opinion has multiple personalities (two to be exact). This
album is sung in two languages - English and German and I think that these are
the two personalities.
As far as the music goes, the programming is pretty good. The album is very
catchy and has a definite dancy feel to it. The vocals seems to make the
difference in this situation. Guest vocals are by Stefan Ackermann and the album
is produced by Bruno Kramm both of whom make up "DAS ICH" and Bruno Kramm also
makes up the band "Kramm". This influence is obvious when listening to this
album.
The German tracks all sound like they were ripped off the 'Das Ich' remix album
'Re_Laborat' or pulled directly from 'Kramm's' album 'Coeut'. Very dancy with
all the harshness that 'Das Ich' normally musters. The German tracks on this
album are the reason I bought it.
The English tracks on this album are quite a different story. I'm not sure if
the musical back-drop changes with the language change but there is definitely a
different feel for the English tracks. The vocals are tolerable when in English
but the remarkable tracks are definitely German.
Over all, this Album is very good as the listener tends to block out the English
tracks. Worth having if you are a Kramm or Das Ich fan, however, I highly
recommend listening to this CD Prior to purchase if at all possible.
German tracks are 4, 5, 6, 9 and 11, which is 5 out of 11, so in my humble view
less then half the track are very good. This is not bad considering I've bought
CD that have one good track on it. Your call.
Give this a listen to you might like what you hear.
