PURPOSE
This group is formed to provide a friendly association among owners
of BMW motorcycles; with the stated intention of promoting fellowship and
good will. Goals are to promote motorcycling as a hobby, courtesy on the
road and motoring safety. The club is to function primarily in central
Indiana, with the Indianapolis metropolitan area as a hub.

The club finances and payment of expenses shall be the responsibility of
the President or Treasurer as delegated by the President. (Bonding for
person(s) signing checks and/or receiving and depositing money collected
should be considered on a yearly basis.)
MEMBERSHIP
The membership requirements are as follows:
Membership privileges consist of full membership for both husband and
wife or an individual member who may bring a guest to any Club function.
Honorary membership may be accorded to present or past BMW owners who have
made an unusual contribution to the Club or to the sport of motorcycling.
Honorary Memberships should be granted only in unusual instances. Such
memberships are for a one-year duration and carry no dues requirement;
this status is to be conferred by the then-current officers and Executive
Committee and should be reviewed yearly.
Lifetime membership may be granted by the then active Executive Committee,
with majority approval by the membership.
A Newsletter Membership is also available for a fee to cover the production
and mailing costs of one year's worth of Club newsletters. Newsletter Memberships
do not include voting privileges.
COMMITTEES
There will be no standing committees except the current Executive Committee
which will consist of:
All other committees will be formed by presidential appointment as required.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The nominating committee for selection of President will be the then-current
Executive Committee, chaired by one member, to be selected by the President.
Election is to be held at a regular monthly Club meeting prior to December
1. The term of office will be from January 1 through December 31.
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are to be selected by the incoming
President; subject to the approval of the Executive Committee.
Executive Committee members may be replaced when, in the opinion of the
majority of the membership, they are no longer performing their committee
responsibilities.
MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS
Meetings will be scheduled on a monthly basis with the membership being
notified by newsletter.
Members, when participating in Club functions (including group rides) are
expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the purpose
of the Club.
Indianapolis BMW Club members are encouraged to become affiliated with
National BMW Motorcycle organizations of their choice.
ANNUAL AWARDS
Active Rider Award: The President will present an award of recognition
to each Club member who rides over 10,000 miles from January 1 to December
31, inclusive.
Most Active Rider Award: The President will present an award or special
recognition for having ridden the most miles during the period specified
above.
Most Active Member Award: The President may present to the member who has
been the most active in the past year at Club events and activities an
award of special recognition.
The President may create any other award that he or she feels is appropriate
and warranted.
Any exception to these by-laws must be reviewed by an appointed committee
of at least three members and presented to the membership, for approval,
at a regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
