MY WAKING DREAM
My waking dream made me love you more
But you never really did those things
Maybe it's a sign of things to come
I think my dreams will never be truth
It all started last night
I thought one small change
Could have made you love me
I pictured that fateful night
In its new form
But it was late and I drifted away
My waking dream is just a dream
It's just another made-up scene
But truth is all I ever dream
But the truth is buried much too low
This morning, woke at nine
And I had a letter from you
Seemed odd for many reasons
Early Sunday morning mail
Never comes
The letter hinted at a love
You had for me
My waking dream makes me love you more
My waking dream is just a door
To all the things I'll never have
Like you
Then we spent days just getting used to each other again
Feeling all the space between us slip away
I couldn't stop staring
And I just loved you more
We held each other forever
In my waking dream
My waking dream is never the same
But it's similar to the others
Because all we do is hold and love
And grow into each other's worlds again
When I finally woke up
Bliss is all there was
And it carried on until
I realized it was just a dream
But I'll always have the memories
Of how we were before
All our triumphs and my mistakes
That pushed you away
But in my waking dream
All my stupid mistakes are never made
My waking dream made me love you more
But you never really did those things
Maybe it's a sign of things to come
My dreams can never be truth
