WELCOME
The thoughts of the end of me
Come crawling back to my front door
And I let them in
Much too welcome and soothing
These thoughts suggest a way
So I make my way across town
The end is near
The end is at hand
The end is too welcome
I can't help but embrace it
The bridge overlooks another
Road passing underneath
I watch the cars pass by
And make my way onto the barrier
And look down
The end, so close
I can smell the asphalt
The end of all the mocking
Far too welcoming
The scent of death is here
Pungent and delicious
I take my final look
See shocked observers
And the cold gray
That surrounds me
The end is just one step away
One gentle step forward
And all the pain is erased
And I'm welcome in a brave new world
I'm tottering now
As someone rushes me
Trying to save this waste
I stare at her
And see the pity
As my foot extends
The end is moaning in pleasure
Just waiting, anticipating
Another soul for freshness
And I know I'm welcome
I see the terror
The sadness in her eyes
And I bring my foot back
But begin to pinwheel
She reaches out
Just in time
The end withdraws
And waits for me
Just a little longer
It's harder to stay alive
Than to take your life
