Critics' Choice Sunday, May 27, 2001 Popular music Vancouver's Skinny Puppy left its stamp on terror-industrial dance music, even if the maverick band worked harder at creating dark, menacing moods than writing songs. The misanthropy and nihilism were born out of the gory imagination of frontman Nivek Ogre (born Kevin Ogilvie). Since the dissolution of Puppy in 1995, Ogre has partnered with programmer/producer Mark Walk, but only now have they stepped out as ohGr. In support of the debut release "Welt," the duo will perform its electronic based rock music at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Ogden Theatre. Tickets: $19 through TicketWeb (303-825-4849). - G. Brown |
