
Windows 98 Chinese Input
- Download and install Microsoft Global IME (Traditional) ChangJie and reboot.
- Open Notepad and type the following:

- Save this file as chinput.html. Make sure
it has the ".html" extension.
- Click on the file to open it, and then place the cursor inside the
input field in the webpage, and simultaneously press the the space bar
and the control (Ctrl) key.
- You should see a button with a Chinese phonetic character appear in
the lower righthand
system tray. If you only see the letters En, left click on it and a
list should appear which contains "Chinese (Traditional) IME". Select
"Chinese IME".
- A small "toolbar" should appear in the lower lefthand corner of
the screen. Right click on the left side of this bar and click on the
first item in the list (ying mu xiao jian pan).
- Now you can click on the phonetic symbols and tone markers (space bar for 1st
tone) to get a list of characters in a box. Choose the character you want or
click the arrow for more choices.
