Here are some of the more popular
questions asked of us.
- What are the origins of
Infernal Gaslamp?
IG originated by Tyler Dean wishing to have a Cthulhu-based role-play
in Victorian England. One of his favorite time periods is the
1890s... Many have speculated more about this, but no one really
knows. Tyler should have a good response up here soon.
- How would you describe
Infernal Gaslamp as a whole?
We've asked the whole crew (and people that know us) and here's
what we had to say:
- "Infernal Gaslamp is a look at the world
through they eyes of a poet. It is not the Victorian era of historical
fact- but rather of Doyle, Burroughs and Wells. It is a look
at what could have been is reality were as free as our imaginations."
-Tyler
- "It's like a big game of Monopoly" -Willie
- "It's like Dungeons and Dragons, but with class."
-Emily
- "No, stop, Tyler, stop, STOP, please, come on,
that's horrible, I mean really, stop; you're just being
disturbing." -Ryan
- "IG is where we get to be people we've always been
curious about, but would never actually want to be." -Kim
- "In his absorbing introduction, Richard Maxwell
discusses the novel's intricate design, in which Dickens magnificently
interweaves epic drama with personal tragedy." -Steve
- "A bunch of freaks frolicking around fighting squid"
Claire
- "You guys have raided the larders of all reference
materials dealing with the Victorian Age, poured it all into
the mixing bowl, stirred until homogenous, and formed some sort
of wacky amalgamation out of it all." -Jeff
- How did you come up with
your characters?
Generally each person has an idea of what type of character they
want to convey; however, each character grows as it experiences
the aspects of Infernal Gaslamp.
- Where'd you get the Ir'al'kadesh
font / Pictures / Info?
The font is called "D'ni" and it was created for the
Myst computer games by the Miller brothers. You can download
it on certain fansites. Other photos, some I have no idea, I
have links to some pages, info I find in the Holmes series by
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and my research. Email me if you want
specifics.
- Who's your favorite NPC?
(non-player character)
- What's your favorite (or
least favorite) adventure been?
Least: Venice, Vienna, Prague, Constantinople.
Favorite: Miskatonic, Paris, the Search for Crucelle, etc.
- Can I get more information
about ______ (fill in something)?
Just ask. Or go to the history / characters' home page / recent
events pages. If the information you want isn't there, email
me.
- What the hell does a squid
have to do with Sherlock Holmes?
Quite a bit, actually. Infernal Gaslamp is a combined Cthulhu
and Holmes role-play (along with some other things) which means
Inspector Gregson must match wits with Moriarty who is in league
with Cthulhu.
- May I join?
Sorry, Infernal Gaslamp is not open to new players
at this time. We have some spots for one shot, flash-in-the-pan
characters (eg. one session maybe two) but these are extremely
limited, and spots for them are taken up for a few months now.
- May I do artwork for IG?
We accept submissions, I can't guarentee we'll put them on the
site or anything, but you are welcome to submit! Please do, we
love seeing others' visions of our characters. Email
them to Emily, send 'em in .jpeg or .gif if you can.
- May I use images/information/etc.
from your site?
DON'T take things without asking
me! I have worked
very hard to find much of this information, and it is all copyrighted,
either by Infernal Gaslamp or assorted others. For more information
regarding copyrights, please see the Copyrights Page. However,
if you're dying for something off the page, email me,
and we'll try to work something out.
- May I link to your site?
Sure!! We have banners that you can use, or make one of your
own (make sure we approve it) and link to www.infernalgaslamp.com
