A Waterfilled Valley ... (a.k.a. a bleak desert with water)

This viewpoint is slightly different from the first two images and incorporates something new for this terrain: water. Water is a fairly new addition to Terragen and, as such, is still in its early incarnations.

Matt has promised some major changes for the water routines in future versions of the program. However, as you can see, what is in the program is already quite good.

For this image, I used the highest quality settings for each aspect of the image. This image is downsampled from the original for web viewing, but the original required almost 4 and a half hours on my PII 400mhz w/ 128 megs to render!

Note: Most renders with Terragen are done on my system in 10 minutes or less. This image is a major exception to that rule. The time needed to render the sky in the image (where most of the computational time is spent) was over 4 hours.
