On death

Death occurs when life ends. Why are we afraid of death? We feel that when we die, it is all over for us. We cherish life, in in our life we find some sort of happiness. Death will remove the happiness from us, and that is why we fight to keep death away from us. Death is the last thing anyone can lose. We can lose our toys, cars, land and other material possessions, but we can always get the items that we lost and replace them. However, we cannot replace life. A life cannot substitute for another life. Each life is unique. We wish to cherish life as long as possible in hopes of acquiring some meaning.

Why do we encourage death? Not everyone lives a content existence. Many of us suffer a thousand pains, most due to the actions of others who are alive. We suffer to make others happy. But when we fail to make ourselves happy, our life loses meaning. Without this meaning, there is no will to live. Death becomes an attractive choice when all other options are grim. To end our suffering, we will die, and there we will find happiness. Life is a curse that we wish to remove from ourselves. The only sure cure is through death.
