09/02/2003 Journal
| I can use this front page of my website as a journal. It
seems that I have already been doing something like that on this
website. Anyways, I saw the World Championship matches by downloading it
from the Sideboard.com. I was able to do that because the in San Jose
State University, I have access to a T1 line that acts like a DSL in my
dorm (because it is very secure). If you have not downloaded the
tournament movies, then I suggest not to because it is not worth the
download. If you do not know already, 4 of the top 8 Worlds decks were
Mirari's Wake variants. That is very annoying. I am ok if there is one
or two wake decks, but no, not enough people could challenge wake, so 4
managed to make it to the top 8. Knowing the fact that there wake decks
in the championships is one thing, seeing them play is another. The main
reason I do not recommend downloading the matches is that the games are
just too long and boring. The the semi and finals were duels with two
control decks that do the same thing. One game lasted 58 minutes (and it
is best of 5 games per round). As a result, I made a new deck to adjust
to the top deck, called Skyline (Type R). Next time, I will come up with
new card game based on the poker deck. The first question that visitors of this site would ask me is; how is it like in San Jose, Silicon Valley? For starters, it is not very impressive. It is crowded, too, with many apartment complexes. The layout of the streets are old fashioned. There is poverty, but remember that poverty is a sign of extreme wealth. (I may talk about this later.). The school looks comfortable. I sometimes forget that I am 400 miles away from home. The weather is cooler than L.A. After all, this is the Bay Area. It is very boring, since I have not found any more MTG players in the area; I will have to search further. However, I am never alone. There is always something to do, like download anime, visit websites, do homework, or go out for sightseeing. The dorm is great. It is probably bigger than I anticipated, since I take very little space in it. I regret not bringing hangers. I share half the room with a nice guy who does not bother. I do not bother, either. However, the room has a window that faces a pool and there is a lot noise coming from there. Because the population density is higher, every perception of space becomes smaller. the campus is no doubt very large and space is over spanned, yet it feels so simple. I eat cafeteria food and it is buffet style. Imagine having the opportunity to eat 2 buffets a day. That is how it is like. It does come at a price, however, but I signed up for a meal plan, so the price does not bother me. What does bother me is the fact that the Dining Commons closes at 7:30 and not open on holidays (or have special hours). I cannot believe that my schedule is regulated by a cafeteria. I will use messengers soon, so do not worry. |
08/22/2003 Apocalypse
Due to a freak accident, I lost my website in my ZIP disk. I am a big idiot for forgetting to back up the files. Well, anyways, I can still make web pages and have completed two entries in the I, influence82 section; Kenneth Cheung's secrets to dieting and Why cell phones are bad. I also added another deck to the Rogue Gallery, Spoiled Food (Type T). I already have more than 69 decks in the Rogue Gallery, with some families adding a few more each. Thus I surpassed my original goal of 52 decks. It s is safe to assume that this will be my last weekly update, as I may not be able to update the site regularly anymore because I will be moving to San Jose. You can still contact me through email, though.
08/11/2003 Secrets
I finally updated the I, influence82 section with 2 new essays, On life and On death. I added 4 new decks commemorating Eighth Edition. They are Crematory 2 (Type S), O.O.E. and Sky Blue (Type R), and Centaur Invasion (Type C Intruding Tokens Family). I do not sideboard because it takes too much time to do. If I wanted to play magic all day long, I would rather play more games than spend time sideboarding. If I can win without sideboarding, then I can prove others wrong. Life is tough, but I must cope with what I have. Also, I got my first cellular phone. Personally, I hate cellular phones because they annoy me and others. I could write a whole essay bout why cellular phones are bad (not a bad idea). I got it because my parents wanted to contact me in San Jose. My official departure date to my future university is August 23, so if you want anything from me, you contact me before then.
08/7/2003 The Gathering II
This week I have a lot of new and old decks up. In Type C, I have the Tireless Tribe Family with 2 additions. In Type R I have MMI U.S. (Underwater Sligh). In Type T I have Special Forces Family with 2 additions. Also, before I leave to college, I plan on taking 6 decks with me. I will chose among the 6 best decks I have ever made. If you have any suggestion on what they should be, let me know by sending an e-mail or an instant message. I also have lots of Eighth Edition. If you are interested in getting some packs or a box, then let me know. So far, I am half satisfies with the Core set. The design is nice, the selection is nice, but I really hate the change in rarities. That pisses me off since I already have 6 Apocalypse uncommon Brass herald and got 2 rare Eighth Edition. The same goes for all the other cards that changed rarity. It is indeed a blow to sellers to have a change in rarity. Another thing that is bas is the change in creature types: when did "Sage" and "Egg" become allowable creature types? I alos uptaded the Anime section, for I have seen a lot of somebody's collection.
07/28/2003 Combo Month, Phase 5
Today I have another OLS deck, Ninja Storm in the combo section. I also added a Type S deck, Beat it. I also updated the active deck, COP Circle R Blue. Today I got my case of Eighth Edition. Each booster box comes with a display topper that is an oversized card. I plan to open the first box on Tuesday. This means I will have 4 left. Also, The official date of my departure is verified: August 22, 2003. I will leave that day to go to San Jose State University where I will spend my next 2 years. I will not be able to update the website very often, but it will still be done if possible. Does anyone want a working car? I am selling it for only $400. It is in the Unique Items section.
07/22/2003 Combo Month, Phase 4
Its a bird, its a plane, its Superelf here in the fourth session of Combo Month in the Type C section in the Rogue Gallery. I also added Raid 3.2 in the Type S section. I added a link in the Anime Pages. Eighth Edition (Core Set) will be released on July 28, and that is when I will get my case (6 boxes). I already have 2 reserved. If you are interested in getting some Eighth Edition from me, then please let me know.
07/16/2003 Combo Month, Phase 3
This week I have Hellsing, another Intruder Alarm deck that wins during the upkeep. I also posted Type S COP R Familiy. I plan to make COP Circle R Blue soon. In addition, the Onslaught, Legions, and Scourge lists are up as I said, but I really have too few rares. Also, I will get a case of Eighth Edition (Core Set) this week. So if you are interested in packs, let me know. I also added two sites in the Anime Pages.
07/10/2003 Combo Month, Phase 2
This week's combo deck is called Bill, a goblin combo deck. The Odyssey, Torment, and Judgment sets are updated. Next week you will see the Onslaught, Legions, and Scourge sets for the first time.
07/03/2003 Combo Month, Phase 1
Welcome to Combo Month, where I will display 4 combo decks of my own creation. This week is Elfementaur. All right, I may borrowed ideas, but the final details are always my own. I also edited My Favorite Websites. I hope you them useful as I have. The Mercadian Masques, Nemesis, Prophecy, Invasion, Planeshift, Apocalypse, and Seventh Edition lists have been updated.
06/28/2003 The Gathering
This week I updated the Urza's Saga, Urza's Legacy, and Urza's Destiny sets. New in the Rogue Gallery is MMI RB 50/50 Type R, though not very impressive, but with profound significance in regards to myself. I am very busy and hope to sell that Nissan Sentra soon.
06/21/2003 Dong Comrade
| This week's deck is Y2Stay, a very good Type 1 deck
played by my friend, Dale. I also put up Rogue Gallery family
extensions in Celebrity (That Girl) in Type R, Warcraft (Warcraft II
version 2.1) and Raid (Raid 3.1) in Type
S. Tempest, Stronghold, and Exodus lists have been updated
as well. After doing my last drafts on Monday, June 16, 2003, I felt both frustrated and relieved. On the first draft of the day, I played red and green and lost horribly to Jimmy again twice in a row. I had elves like Timberwatch Elf and 2 Wellwisher as well as some burn cards, but I could not get them. In fact, I was so delayed in the game that by the time that I could do anything it was too late, as Jimmy was beating me down with weenies and a really big Daru Stinger. The "not enough lands to play the expensive spells" scenario repeated itself again from the first time. It was disappointing. The second draft was much better. My first opponent was a beginner, so I had to help him out in drafting. I still beat him flawlessly. My deck was a black and white zombie cleric deck. It was very efficient (either that or I had a lot of luck in the shuffle). In the next round, I played Jimmy and slaughtered him with no mercy. It felt so good to beat him twice in a row. In the first game, I had more creatures than him and beat him with Severed Legion and little birds. In the second game I played a Putrid Raptor face down on turn three, played a Frightshroud Courier on turn four, then discarded a Spined Basher to morph the raptor and give it a +2/+2 and fear on turn five. I attacked with a 6/6 unblockable creature. On turn six, I added a Crown of Suspicion to make the raptor Silvos-sized and beat him down. He could not do anything about that raptor so I won. Because I am a fair person and wanted insurance, I split the winnings with Jimmy. I was being nice too, since I had the feeling that I could beat him. I got my Akroma. Angel of Wrath, Decree of Pain, and Mischievous Quanar. Even though I won that game and it felt very good, I knew it was a pyrrhic victory. Money wise, I lost 28 dollars and only got 6 rares and 2 foils out of it. The victory could never make up for the loses that I incurred. And as I promised, I will never buy any cards to draft with again in my life. You can bet on that. |
06/09/2003 Famous Decks, Part 4
| S.O.J. Is the famous family I have. Check it out in the
Type S section. I also added a family, Stompy Junior, in the Type R
Section. On Saturday, June 7, I drafted again for the second time in a year and it was just awful. I still think that my black and green deck was good. It had numerous 3 mana cost creatures and some fat creatures and some bring back the dead cards. When I played with it, there were two main problems; first, I only draw one of my three mana cost creatures, and two, my opponent had many lower mana cost creatures to beat me down while I was helpless. In the first game, I got no forest and only one 3 mana cost creature (Nantuko husk) and my opponent was beating me down witn Imagecrafter and Zealous Inquisitor. In the second game I drew the 3 mana cost creature (Nantuko husk again) until the eighth turn, and by then I was down to 11 life. This translated to me being an easy attacking target until the the sixth turn, when I could get a big creature out. Also in the second game, My opponent had flying bird soldiers like Wingbeat Warrior, Aven Liberator, and Keeneye Aven, and all I had was an Aphetto Vulture. He also had a white card that prevented damage. Overall, it was a complete disaster for me: I did not even have a chance to survive. I felt so bad about it that I wanted to commit suicide. I felt so bad that I did not want to draft again. I lost two games in a row without remorse. The worst of luck has never happened to me before. In that situation, I had enough lands to play any card, except that my cards had such high mana costs. I did not get my Infernal Caretaker or Embalmed Brawler. It was so annoying. Fortunately, my sense of honor always prevails and I will not kill myself (this time) and will accept my agreement with that other kid about drafting two more times on Monday. Oh, and speaking that, I need people to go to Treasure Island on Monday, June 16 so that me and my friend can draft with other people. Can any of you do that? It is possible to have more than 4 people draft. On that day, I will draft my last two times in my life with Magic cards. I view myself as an outsider in this ring of draft addicts. I do not really belong there, but I am willing to pay money to others in order to learn. I do not expect to win anymore: I am just going to play to play. My expectations are now different. So next time I lose that bad, I will not feel the pain. |
06/02/2003 Heart of Darkness
| This week I have Type R deck MMI S.J. I also created two
families: Timothy (Type S) and Raid (Type S). Remember that all
my decklists are in the Magic: the Gathering Section in the Rogue Gallery.
Also in the Magic: the Gathering Section, I updated my active decks.
Notice that I remade two old decks. It is not that I am out ideas, but I
just like to play with them once again. That Girl is coming up next week
(see The Wishlist for hints). I also updated the card lists for Mirage, Visions,
Weatherlight, Portal, Portal Second Age, Portal Three
Kingdoms, and Unglued. Do not worry, for the lists for the
Onslaught block (OLS) will come soon. I am currently advertising the
Nissan Sentra at other publications as well. Like I said before, I am not very supportive on drafting. I mentioned the evils of drafting like gambling, addiction, etc. What I do not see is the culture of drafting itself. I know that I am a bad drafter because I little experience in this field, like I have with tournaments. Those who do play well play very often, like 5 times a week. Since they play so much, they learn more from their plays. This makes them better players in drafts. Of course, this amounts to a lot of money being spent, and if they trade cards for more packs, it is still the same (in order to make money from drafts, you have to keep the money you make from them. Profits are possible, but the odds of losing balance the gains). I do not spend money on myself for Magic. The last single cards I actually bought for myself were 4 Pilliage and 4 Ęther Flash from T.I. two years ago. I did buy packs for drafts a little, but I had no intention of actually making enormous fortunes form them. When I draft, I know I just squandered money away. But that does not matter when you draft. You draft just to draft. You do not really care about the outcome: you would only care if you win. If you lose, tough. That is life. I should not complain. I never complain about life: I accept it as it is, so I will accept those who play for cardboard pieces, for I am close to one of them (though not exactly). |
05/27/2003 Autorun
It is about time I finally advertise the 1985 Nissan Sentra hatchback for sale. Now you can see it in the Unique Items section. The lists for Ice Age, Homelands, Alliances, and Chronicles are updated. This week's deck of the week is Oath of Druids (Type S). Also, I drafted on May 24, 2003 and lost. My deck was mono white and weak, with small weenies and little defense. I drew the Exalted Angel all three games and still lost two of them. Even though I am well with the rules, my draft skills are bad. My opponent illegally used a Mercurial Kite by assigning damage, then returning it to his hand. What we both did not know was that the Mercurial Kite's ability does not trigger if it leaves play before damage is dealt, so my Exalted Angel was tapped for an unnecessary turn. Now I know better. It is similar to Exalted Angel's ability. My deck was weak because I did not really bother reading all the cards from Scourge, since I focused primarily in white. I will draft three more times before I will stop (perhaps forever?). My next draft is on June 14, since some kid wants me to wait on him because of his testing.
05/22/2003 On Silent Wings II
I am currently preparing a web page to advertise the 1985 Nissan Sentra hatchback that I have for sale. Unfortunately, I do not have detailed info on it yet. This weeks deck of the week is Type T Mono Brown. I also updated the Arabian Nights, Legends, Antiquities, and Fallen Empire lists.
05/14/2003 Famous Decks, Part 3
This time I posted the Smokestack decklists in the Type S section. It was cool to play, but annoying to others. Which of my decks are not annoying?
05/06/2003 What else?
The deck of the week is S.O.S. in the Type S section. Warcraft II is also up and my active decks section is updated. The Fourth Edition and Fifth Edition lists are rechecked. I will also go to Treasure Island on Sunday to meet Jeff and anyone else who happens to be there for the combo meal special.
05/01/2003 Dark Shadows
Allen is on the Wishlist, Revised and Beta Unlimited sets are updated, and I have two more decks up. The first deck is a carryover from last week, Raid 2 (Type S) the weirdest deck I have ever composed and played (it is an active deck now). The second deck is the older Handhunter (Type R) from the days of Mercadian Masques. If you have any questions, comments, to threats, let me know by sending an email or make an appointment with me to meet somewhere, most likely at Treasure Island or PCC Computer Cafe.
04/21/2003 Onslaught theme week
Welcome to Onslaught (OLS) theme week. This update I have 4 fun decks to show you, all in the Type T section. The names of the decks will amuse you; Dinosaurs, Special Forces, Air Force, and Misty. Each deck is based on a specific creature type. I also updated my active decks list. I will start updating card lists form now on.
04/15/2003 Famous Decks, Part 2
This week you can find my tournament-winning deck, HOP. This deck proves that some cards do not suck at all. Find the win condition for this deck in the Type S section. Thanks to Jeff's observation, I put the actual C.O.W. (Type S) and About Face (Type C) decks up so that you can see them for the first time. I apologize for that. Magic: the Gathering is taking up too much of my time. I am a virtually a planeswalker supercomputer. An important thing I need is responses to people who are willing to trade cards on The Wishlist for Shawn because I will have to order soon. Next week will be the most recreational week you have ever seen, for it will be theme week, or more specifically, OLS (Onslaught) theme week.
04/08/2003 On Silent Wings I
This week I have 2 decks up, The Horde (Type R), and C.O.W. (Type S). Other then that, I will prepare for the future.
3/31/2003 Weenie Week
As promised, I added 3 weenie decks to the Type R section. They also happen to be decks that am currently playing as active decks.
03/25/2003 Righteousness
Type R A.T.O. is up in the decks section. I have updated my active decks section. How come nobody told me that I spelled "warehouse" wrong? What an embarrassment! I now changed all the titles to their correct form. We need more people to play Magic: the Gathering At PCC. If you go to PCC and play Magic, please see me so that we can duel. I will even play chaos for fun. I think that it is better to play Magic than stare at a computer screen all day or watch other people play other card games (no offense to anyone who provides). Next week is Weenie Week.
03/17/2003 Famous Decks, Part 1
This week I begin a series of famous decks, a cycle that may last 5 months. This week I post JOG (Jack of God), a deck familiar to my fellow high school planeswalkers. I also got a Third Girlfriend (Type R Celebrity) that I show off soon. Remember, I will go to T.I. if I have an appointment. Do not always expect me to be there on Fridays or Saturdays. If you need to see me, then let me know and I can arrange an appointment to see you. The Anime Pages also went through revision.
03/10/2003 Wait
This week's deck of the week is Under the Sea (Type T). Jeff and Benson are now back in Magic, so I will be seeing them more often. Next week you will see the first of my "Famous Decks."
03/04/2003 The Untouchable
My computer's Internet is working well, so I will often be online with my instant messengers. This week I have the Type C deck, Phage, which has a third and fourth turn kill capability in Type 2. If you are one of those people who took offense on my comments from last (see below), then you are probably identifying yourself as something you do not want to be identified with. I was stating what was actually happening. It up to the reader to decide what do about it. Yes, I admit that I was categorizing players, but this is the science of Magic. I am presenting a new view on the world of Magic: the Gathering. In a political sense you can say that I am liberal. For the statements I mentioned last week, it is important for the reader to know that they would only be offended at something if they had reason to be offended. I would never say or write anything offensive unless I wanted to present a point. What is typed is not meant to be offensive, but rather to teach or influence for the improvement of others. Someone has told me that he was offended by the previous comments and defended himself, saying that he holds and keeps cards and makes his own decks. Well, if he does not always gamble with drafting, then why take offense in the first place? That particular person (who still remains anonymous) has learned more about himself that may help improve his Magic playing abilities. Depending on how he uses his alternative experience, he will probably change his way of thought. The overall point is not how something can hurt you, but what you can do to gain something out of the experience.
02/25/2003 Dreamsong
| It it amazing to me that I received no Magic: the
Gathering emails from anybody last week. A little communication would help
here, guys. Oh, and I finally have Internet at home (courtesy of Netzero).
This means I will be online more often. I will use Instant Messengers soon
(right now it is just MSNM, because it comes with Windows XP). With an
upgraded computer, I have re-established contact. This week's
deck is Type C E.W.D. (Blueberry), so check it out. Also, last weeks
remark about drafting (see below) was not meant to offend anyone. If you
play other formats as well as drafting, then you are more "cultured" in
the Magic sense, and that is okay. If you draft not so often, like me,
then it is also okay. The problem comes when all you do is draft and sell.
If you draft simply to win cards and sell those cards to fund more drafts
and you do not have any other decks (or just a clone, which is an exact copy of a
winning tournament deck), then you may have a problem. People who fill the
latter position can be most commonly found at Orbit (that I am familiar
with). As for the clone aspect I mentioned before, this is the problem: a
person who makes a clone relies on someone else's idea and someone else's
strategy to win. The clone player does not use their own skill as much and
depends more on the deck to win. They may not even know how to play the
deck as the original users intended it to be. Because it was originally
created by someone else, the credit for the deck would go to the original
creators as opposed to the person who has it. People would say..."oh you
have that type of deck." If a clone is too good, then some people would not want
to play against it. That may filter out the "weaker" players, but last
thing players want is isolation. If you have a clone and really like it,
consider how you may improve it so that it suits your own needs. Once you
modify it, it ceases to be a clone and becomes your own. The more diverse
the Magic community is, the more fun it is to play.
Maybe I should have a Magic articles column. If you visitors think so, then send me an email and tell me what you want to see. I have thousands of Magic: the Gathering topics in my head. My ideas are rather unconventional, so I may disagree with professionals and touch on aspects other people simply ignore. But hey, if no one else does it, who will? |
02/18/2003 Just when you thought it was safe...
Jaws is finally here. See how I managed to lock opponent's creatures down in this unique way in the Type S Jaws Family. Wesley's wishlist has been updated. Also, I will remind you people that I draft Magic: the Gathering under three conditions: 1) It does not cost me money (someone else could pay for me), 2) The three draft packs are from 3 different sets, most likely in a common block, and 3) I do not lose more than three times in a row. In June, when the third expansion to the Onslaught block releases, I will draft four times in Treasure Island. If I lose three times in a row, I will stop. Unlike the regular addicts you see at the store everyday, I will not gamble my life away to hardcore drafting. It is not a fate I wish to see myself in. Some people say that drafting is like a tournament, with all the draft cards as the grand prize. First of all, tournaments are regulated with judges. You pay an entry fee to participate in a tournament and the money goes to a common pool for a much larger prize. If it a DCI sanctioned tournament, you will receive a ranking. Drafting with friends and enemies is pure gambling. Winning takes some skill, but most of it is random luck. It is fun most of the time, but not when you are draining your wallet everyday like drug addict, then using the winnings to buy more drafts. Of course, some people get rich. However, like the lottery, many people have to lose money for one person win. Of course when you do not care about other people, that thought never comes into mind.
02/10/2003 Cry of the Worm
Peter Quach's request is up in The Wishlist. Wesley wants hard-to-find promotional cards, so please help me get them and I will buy them. Please email me of call me if I gave you my phone number. I have added the Type C Worldgorger Family, featuring the active deck, Miaka, and my best Type R Warcraft decklist. As for my old deck Girlfriend, I have not yet figured out what to do with it (or her) yet, but I still want to develop a very good version of it. I will not go to Treasure Island unless I have an appointment, for I am preoccupied with work. Jaws is coming next week, so be sure to stay out of the waters.
02/03/2003 Active Decks
Starting now, I will list the active decks on my Magic: the Gathering index page. These are the decks that I am currently playing. That means I have the actual cards to complete these decks. When I usually play Magic: the Gathering, no one really cares what I call my decks. The other players may think my decks are cool and classify it to an archetype that they are familiar with. Now they can come to this website and see my evaluations of my own decks while seeing it in action. The decks of the week are Groundbreaker (Type S) and Goblin Alarm (Type C, Cathode Weld-Alarm Family). They are two of my active decks. However, I may not always display all the decklists to my active decks. One active deck will never be listed, and that is my Type 1 Macleod. The active decks should be updated in the beginning of each month. Also, Wesley wants specific foil card for his special deck. For you people who go the shows and tournaments, this is where I need your help. Remember, you can trade with ma anything on The Wishlist if you cannot directly contact the person.
01/27/2003 Blood of a Thousand
I recently acquired an interest in the comic series Blade of the Immortal. It is about a samurai who is cursed with immortality and the only way to end it is by killing a thousand evil men. It is quite bloody: something Wesley might like. If you want to look at the books, I may show it to you. More information is on the Dark Horse Comics website, which is on the Anime Pages. The deck of the week is Type T "Stoned," a poison deck from my old school days. I added three people on The Wishlist, so check it out. Next week you will see a Type 2 deck, so it would be back to normal, that is, until "Famous decks month," which I have not decided when. My famous decks are something you must see if you want to see the best of the best. Four decks alone can define how I play Magic At the first week of every month, I decided that I will list the names of my active Magic decks. That is, the decks I am currently playing with, just so anyone who has seen the website can see for themselves how a my decks work in person when they see me. Of course, not all my active decklists will be posted. Some will surprise you. That was an understatement. For now, I will post on my contact page that my instant messengers are down
1/21/2003 Lost Contacts
If you do not know already, I have disconnected my DSL access at my home. I was hoping that I could have my dial-up modem working soon, but unfortunately it is not working. I am currently unable to reinstall my dial-up modem. Thus, I cannot use the Internet at home until I can fix my modem problem. This means I will not be using any instant messengers of any kind. I will still use my e-mail somewhere else, either at the Arcadia Library or Pasadena City College. This week's Vintage Deck of the week is Shock HOP (Type S). Also, Jimmy finally realized that a foil set is not really feasible, so he cancelled it.
01/07/2003 Shadowfire, NCB
This week's vintage Type R deck is "Shadowfire." I will part with my DSL service due to financial reasons, but will still not back down on my commitment. In order to do this, I will post 2 decks to cover 2 weeks in case of uncertainty. Basically, the second deck is "No Can Block," with an unblockable theme (Type T).
01/01/2003 Vintage Month
This month of January, I will display 4 vintage decks in The Rogue Gallery. Vintage means they date back from 1997-2001, when I was in high school. Last week's deck, "E.L.K." was an indication of this. This week it is "R.C.L.K.," a similar type of deck.
12/24/2002 Website Eve
My friend Jimmy wants to collect a foil set of Onslaught, so I volunteered to put a list of cards he wants on The Wishlist. It is actually on a separate page because the list is too large. In addition, Trent is on The Wishlist. The deck of the week is the vintage E.L.K. I also modified the Chinese Artifacts section. Whenever someone inquires something on the Chinese Artifacts section, I always edit it. Now it has measurements for the swords and clay soldiers. The Star Wars CCG section has Premiere Unlimited and Other sets. I finally completed the Star Wars section. Lastly, I would like to inform you that Girlfriend it the deck I want to develop (in the Type R Celebrity Family). I would enjoy your input on improving this deck so that it can be very competitive. Thus, I created a Second Girlfriend. Yes, that means you can suggest Chainer's Edict and Smother, but I still want to maintain the same concept. A prototype of Girlfriend is currently being tested. Another deck I have completed is Cathode-Weld Alarm. Since there are two versions of the deck, I created a Cathode-Weld Alarm Family in the Type C section.
12/18/2002 Magic
This week's Type C deck is Gluttony, a fairly effective deck even without the combo. I know this because I am currently playing it. When you look at the Rogue Gallery and you think that I have unintelligent ideas, remember that unlike other people who use existing broken cards, I can find any crappy card and break it. I do not need a Wild Mongrel to win (yes, I seem to have a detachment towards Wild Mongrel; everyone plays it except me). Also notice that the Rogue Gallery also looks better than before.
12/11/2002 Infinity
This week's featured Type C deck is Infinity, the combo of infinite turns. I have played it and it has been largely successful. I have made a correction on the Get a Life deck, for it is possible to play fast effects while an effect is still on the stack.
Fall of the Empire
| I was a little late
in finding out what happened to the Star Wars CCG. On April 2001, Decipher
was denied a license renewal from Lucasfilm to make any more Star Wars
products. What happened was that Hasbro bought the rights to Star Wars.
As educated MTG players know, Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast. So
it was not surprising that suddenly an influx of Star Wars roleplaying
games hit the market from Hasbro later in the year. When Star Wars
Episode 2 movie came out, it was Wizards of the Coast that produced
a card game based on that, not Decipher. I really disagree on Lucasfilm's
decision to deny the rights to Decipher, for they will not produce
any more Star Wars CCG. It very obvious that Wizards wants to eliminate
its closest rival out of business, and that it very selfish. However,
that is life and I must accept that decision. A detailed explanation
is on Decipher's website in the Star Wars section. I will still leave
the listing of my Star Wars cards here, because I still like the game.
It is my second favorite, after all. I promise to finish the Star Wars
Section by Christmas. In other updates, Bligh OTJ is the new Type R deck on display. I could make it if I had 3 Lost In Thought (see The Wishlist). However, my priority is to get a Girlfriend. I know one person who wants to collect a foil set of Onslaught, so can you please submit to me your list of Onslaught foil cards by email and I could work out a deal with you. |
11/27/2002 modifications
In addition to "Get a Life" which is the theme deck of the week, I may many modifications to many pages. The list may go on for a long time, so you can just notice them yourself. For starters, check the Magic: the Gathering section, where it is easier to navigate. Also, you can read my official personal statement "Flicker," in the I, influence82 section, which I turned in to UC Berkley. Emilio helped me improve this site and I appreciate it a lot. I hope you find the site more favorable.
11/20/2002 First Family
In the Type R section of the Rogue Gallery, you will see the Celebrity Family, the first family of decks on this website. Of course, I just added one deck called "Girlfriend" (I got the idea from somebody who boasted that he had a girlfriend but never showed any proof). Please check the wishlist as well because I want these cards as soon as possible.
11/15/2002 Happy
Birthday Shinobu!
|
This day is Shinobu Maehara's birthday. She is an anime character from the Love Hina series. The reason why I like her is that she is a good homemaker, very humble, and helpful. You can probably call it idolizing an imaginary character, but I find it a very joyous experience to celebrate her birthday (sniff). Now you know what my AIM icon means. For more information about her, please visit the Love Hina links on the Anime Pages. In addition, there is a very special deck of the week, so please check out "Verdant Nantuko" in the the decks section under Type C.
11/9/2002 One more thing
I failed to mention that Onslaught is now Type 2 (which means bye bye Invasion), Ice Age and Mirage Block have been rotated out in extended and I think Fifth Edition as well. This is quite a big change in the competitive Magic environment. However, for retired people like me, it no different. Also, someone decided to buy the remaining half of my Onslaught box so I will have no more sealed packs available. And yes, I still have work to do, but at least I am no longer a teenager. I also updated the Chinese Artifacts page for the first time in 3 years because someone was interested in purchasing something. Lastly, the deck of the week is up.
10/29/2002 November
The usual new deck of the week is up, I edited the Anime Pages, and added another essay in the I, influence82 section (it is actually my first attempt at a personal statement). November is a special month for me. First, my birthday is on the fifth. Second, the midterm elections are on my birthday. third, It is the UC and CSU application filing period. Fourth, I have an essay, research project, and many quizzes to prepare for. What does this do to me? It brings up my blood pressure. To avoid any form of political suicide, I will suspend all business activities and Magic playing until the end of the month. However, I will add decks of the week as usual because I never back down on my promises.
10/26/2002 Nothing much
S.I.R. is the deck of the week. I named it after the Nissan Sentra class. I put the advertisement for the Onslaught packs on the Magic: the Gathering index page so I do not have to repeat "I have Onslaught booster packs available" every time I enter another bulletin here. I will leave it there until I get rid of them. I do not intend to open them unless I will draft or use them immediately in some way. The next time I will draft, remember, is in June 2003, to play the whole Onslaught block.
10/18/2002 I will do, and do not
The deck of the week, McVeigh Lives, is up. I still have 18 sealed Onslaught booster packs available if you are interested. Also, I updated all recent sets from Tempest to Judgment. I took apart all my decks (which I previously had 2 constructed) and I will also withdraw from public life a little more because I need to learn to study more. However, business will never change.
10/12/2002 Deck of the week
This week's deck of the week is The Messengers, a diverse angel deck. I am looking for a Voice of the Woods, so please see the wishlist. A friend of mine wants to buy 18 booster packs of Onslaught. Thus, I will buy a box and have 18 remaining. If you are interested in some Onslaught packs, then let me know.
10/4/2002 Odyssey Week
This week I showcase 3 OBC decks that I have played. My first and favorite is K.O. I still cannot find the missing Invasion cards, so I will update that section appropriately.
10/2/2002 LS, Suspension, etc.
The deck of the week is up. Every week I should add at least one new deck in the Magic: the Gathering section. Here, Wesley submitted a deck to me and I posted it. Also, a tragedy occurred on Friday: I lost my Invasion collection because I brought it to school and left it somewhere, never to find it again. Thus, my collection of Invasion is limited to commons and uncommons, because I kept the extra cards somewhere else. I will also take a suspension from playing Magic until next Tuesday due to academic reasons. Business will be as usual. I hope you can check the wishlist to see if you can help me and my friends out.
9/24/2002 It is here
The decks section is officially up and it will be updated every week for a year. That was a lot of work.
9/23/2002 It is coming
Some updates are the Anime section and Anime Pages, a new essay in the I, influence82 section (On Greed), and some other minor things that you would not notice anyway. The decks section will be up by the next update. Everything I say is true, this I promise you.
9/17/2002 The sin of sloth
For those of you who visit frequently to my website, I apologize for not fulfilling my promises at the time I was supposed to. This was my outlined plan: fill out college applications, add more to the I, influence82 section, update the Magic: the Gathering card lists, create a MTG decks section. Unfortunately, I have completed none of that. I am starting on some on each of those parts, but not quite finishing on it. Thus, I will so some parts each day or twice a week so that I could get something done. Anyways, at the height of Odyssey Block Contructed, I decided to deviate from the extra-card theme decks and make some OBC. You may see it when I play it. If the decks get completed and perform well (especially against Wild Mongrel), then I may join the next Treasure Island tournament. Also, please note that I update the wishlist more frequently than I do the rest of the site. I usually change it twice a week.
9/6/2002 Next theme
My next cycle of extra-card decks are theme-specific Invasion block. I have a Glade Gnarr deck, Domain, and Kavu. More are coming. I will update the MTG section in one month, so do not fret. I will still refrain from broad constructed decks until I update the MTG section.
9/3/2002 It is here to look updated
I have added another poem in the I, influence82. This poem was entered in a contest and got printed in a book. That was all I won. In the near future, say next week, the Magic: the Gathering deck section should appear, with decks you have never seen before, unless you saw me with them.
8/24/2002 New
Whenever you see the
08/11/2002 Second makeover
It is about time I reorganize this website. The new additions to this website are: the "I, influence82" section, the anime links page, and a research project about Magic: the Gathering. I have pictures for the animal horns and antlers that I have in my garage. I also sold the 1985 Honda Civic and got my 2001 Honda Civic fixed. The suspension is officially over. The makeover is not complete, but it at least looks better than before.
