STUDIO UPDATE: DRUM AND BASS TRACKING
So, the drums for the new album are DONE!!! Daniel came in and knocked out his parts in almost record time. It was pretty amazing actually. They sound awesome already and Frank hasnt even touched them yet. Makes us really really excited to hear the rest of it.
Right now, Im finishing up the bass tracks which I was lucky enough to be able to knock out at the same time Daniel did drums. I got some really good takes that we feel are definitely album worthy. So now its just a matter of reviewing all of them and picking out what parts need polishing, cleaning them up and then that will be it. Bass will be done also.
Frank has us recording in a different way then we have before to try to capture a more energetic feel. It's something we're not totally used to, but its coming out awesome so far. Because of the way we're doing it, we're getting through way faster than we anticipated. We expected a more drawn out process - but if we can get it done fast, and more importantly, done right, then that's all the better.
We do expect to slow the pace down once Jenine starts on guitars and then ultimately vocals. So I'll be keeping u updated on when that all starts.
K, kids, thats it from the studio. Talk to ya next week.
xoxo,
kc

NEW VIDEOS UP OF HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS SHOW
Hey kids,
We've put up a couple vids of our show with Hawthorne Heights at the Rio. This was a really, really fun show for us. Thanx to everyone who came out to see us...the poolside concert was PACKED!!! Hawthorne Heights was unbelievable and to be honest, one of the absolute nicest bands we've ever had the pleasure of playing with and meeting. Thanks to them for not being stereotypical rockstars, haha.
Anyway, go check out the vids. Later;-)
STARTING PRE-PRODUCTION ON NEW ALBUM
So we are officially underway in the construction of Black Heart Symphony. Right now we have started concentrated rehearsals on the new songs and will be putting together the exact sound that we want for this record. Because we wanted to make sure that we are as prepared as possible to enter the studio, we have pushed back recording to October. We like going into the studio and hitting everything in one take, if possible, that way leaving more time for post-production. Moving recording back a month will allow us to do that.
Also, we're excited to let you know that we're going back to the future. Frank Klepacki will be returning to co-produce this record with us. He did our first CD, Do You Feel Better Now?
We wanted to try some new things this time around and this is the man who we think can help us out with that. He was able to bring some really cool things out of us back then, so we wanted to see what he could do with these new songs.
So keep checking back cuz there's gonna be plenty of updates on progress of the record!!!!
xoxo,
kc

ALBUM TITLE REVEALED AND UPDATES!!!
As hopefully some have you heard, I officially announced the name of the new album on the Homegrown Show a couple weeks ago. For the rest of ya's, here is YOUR official announcement.
You've heard the title track being played live recently and on our YouTube channel. The name of the new TDA album is, Black Heart Symphony.
We are super excited to finally be able start giving details of the new record and to finally be putting out something new. The plan is to start recording in September and when that happens, we'll be able to give you guys a solid release date.
The writing process is 95% done - Jenine is just puttin the finishing touches on her lyrics which, already, are the absolute best I've heard her write. Which is saying something considering the awesomeness that she's done on past records.
As far as the music...expect something a little different for us. We've taken some new, exciting approaches while still being able to be us. There's gonna be some new elements introduced and some other things we've never done before....we gotta keep it fresh for ya'll, ya dig? haha
Anyhoo - I'm super stoked to be apart of, what I think, is the best record we've done. Keep checking back, in the next few days/weeks, we'll be announcing song titles and tracklisting.
Hope you all are as excited as we are!!!!

UPDATE ON DANIEL
For everyone who came to The Beauty Bar last Friday knows that we were unable to play due to Daniel unexpectedly ending up in the hospital that night. The situation was that there was an infection caused by some dental work that he had done and the infection had spread to his spine.
As of now, he is feeling better and is even back to playing drums, he's talking a little slower haha, but he's gonna be fine!
We wanna thank all the bands that night, Lydia Vance, Indulge, and OPM for being super supportive and adjusting there set times. Especially Lydia Vance for their kind words from the stage. Also Case and the Beauty Bar staff for understanding. Everyone was great.
And to all of you, for the well wishes. Make sure to shoot over to Daniel's myspace page and ask him how he could let a small thing like a spinal infection keep him from playing the show!!!! HAHA
Anyway, barring any other medical emergencies, we'll definitely be a the Cheyenne on May 17th. You guys better be there!!! We have some make up rockin' to do ;-)

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE DAY AFTER...
Over the past few months we've fielded a lot questions and heard a lot of things regarding our label, Gotham Records, and us. It is just now that we are able to address those questions.
After discussing what would be in our band's best interest regarding our immediate future plans we had asked, and were kindly granted, a release from our contract with Gotham Records.
We would like to take this time to thank Patrick, Cory, Reuven, Amanda and all the past and present employees and bands on Gotham for all they've done. They provided a platform for the whole country to hear our band and we are definitely appreciative of that.
We part with Gotham under good terms and we wish them the best of luck in the future with their current and future roster of artists.
With that said, we are VERY VERY excited about what this means for the future of our band. We are hard at work as we speak on our new album. We are in the final stages of the writing process and looking forward to start recording within the next few months. We're really proud of these songs so far and the songs that we've been playing live have been getting great responses.
We'll be making more announcements and keeping you up to date on the process as it goes. As for now, we want to thank all of you for continuing your support. It means everything to us.
Let's make 2008 another big year!!!!
Take care,
xoxo

THE SKINNY
Whats up everyone? Sorry its been a few weeks since we've caught up.
First of all, we wanna thank everyone who came out to our Revolution and Beauty Bar shows. We had A LOT of people show up between the two and we were very proud of that fact. Hearing your reactions to some of our older songs was well worth having to re-learn them HA HA! You guys were responsible for gettin us off to an awesome start in '08.
Secondly, we wanted to let everyone know that we will be working on our new album. More on that to come...
On the show front, we have some great shows coming up with Onesidezero (Feb. 16th) and a rare acoustic show at the House Of Blues (March 20th). Check our shows section for the details of those.
We are talking about tour plans this year as well and making preparations for that. There are a lot of places that we want to go back to that we hit on our last tour. If we can get it out this year, the touring should coincide with the release of the new album.
We hope that you all are as excited for '08 as we are. We'll be keeping you thoroughly updated and give you a step by step look into the making of this record.
Thanks for your patience and support as always. We'll see you at the shows;)

REVIEW OF THE NEW CD IN CRAVE MAGAZINE
The day after... - A Different Way To Get By
Gotham Music 2006
By Stephanie Nolasco
People have always been intrigued by a female musician who can grab rock n' roll by the balls and make it howl. Front woman Jenine Cali leads The day after… with vocals that will leave you stunned. Cali screeches like an angry banshee, transforming into an aroused vixen with a soft and breathy voice. With each poetic line that makes up “A Different Way To Get By,” Cali raises goose bumps with raw talent that puts her in charge of a male-dominated industry.
The day after…a Las Vegas trio consisting of Cali, bassist KC Wells and drummer TJ Thompson, wows listeners with “A Different Way To Get By,” which is a huge sigh of relief for the dying music industry. A blend of punk, indie and even pop, The day after... is the long awaited love child of Fiona Apple and Robert Smith. In “The Take Back,” each lyric flows as a piece of poetry, which is the root of all successful music. Each track from “A Different Way To Get By” compliments each other, revealing frustration and endurance in being an unsigned band from Las Vegas. Each track, well layered with guitars, drums, a distant violin and cathartic lyrics encourages you to actually listen to the entire album.
The title “Friends Are Enemies” may fool you as another typical emo rant, but its orgasmic buildup of angry melodies will leave you yearning for more. Ultimately, you'll be satisfied by their victorious resurrection of The Cure's melancholy mood in “Car Crash,” a woman's plead in having her feelings understood. The album ends with “In My Rear View” an acoustic ballad with the empowering final lines “Was it how you needed me/Like I thought I needed you.”
The day after… is a new chapter in the history of the current music industry, one that delivers promise to anxious listeners. Not only is it a different and necessary change, but it took a modern siren to reveal a brand new day.

"Brand New Skin" was #8 on the KOMP 92.3 Homegrown Show Most Requested for 2006 Show!!!! Thanx so much to everyone who called in and requested that song. 2 things that make that special are that 1.) This marks the 4th year in a row we've had a song in the Top 10 of the Most Requested and 2.) The day after...
SKYLINEPRESS.NET REVIEW OF "A DIFFERENT WAY TO GET BY"
A surprising entrance from an up and coming, artist from the respective label Gotham Records, The Day After are no strangers to the scene. They have had their hands in several musical efforts that have stirred up some ruckus about them that has spread through the indie underground. With Strong influences from The Cure and The Smashing Pumpkins, it is always interesting to see what this trio from Las Vegas has up their sleeves. I'm sure what ever it is, it's always deadly.
"A Different Way To Get By" starts off with a quick jogging beat that spreads like an infection and forms "Brand New Skin." High pitched guitars balance out the soothing singing that the band nurtures and unleashes upon the world. The repetitive beat doesn't get old, but instead grows on you and sprouts visions of all the seasons in its progressive nature. A bass ballad at its core, "The Take Back" chimes in with classy echoed guitars and lovely vocals. For a trio, The Day after has a way of combining their sound as it feels like there are four or five members instead and this song is a great example of that. Waves of bliss splash on the shores and sprinkle on your cheeks. "Curtains" introduces a more upbeat song that has structure through a musical focal point that is built around it. The live ambient feeling is captured, as you can close you eyes and picture them on stage with the lights on the triumphant lead singer as she swoons the crowd. Lone guitars thump as a strong feminine voice spills her dirty secrets for "Breaking Bones." A clash of instruments climaxes as we are taken on a rollercoaster ride that stretches our faces to the point of submission. This form of unleashing all your strength and taking a short rest is weary on a soul, but for a song, it contrasts into a perfect sound. A joyful drum beat bounces along with a bass line that runs along with him as they pick up more new members in the form of a flashing guitar in "This Medicine." Reverbed guitars fill the skies with static and charge the clouds for the light show. Vocals are a true shining point and act like the star on a Christmas tree, illuminating the whole thing. A short intro shifts and turns with its jittery madness in "On The Clock."
A vibrating guitar starts off "Car Crash" as an addition of a traveling bass captures a fine woman’s voice in stone forever. The silent gentleness gives way to a cascading waterfall of sound that crumbles the stones at the bottom. Their signature start and stop persuasion continues with this influential selection. "Friends Are Enemies" starts off more upbeat with a piano in the background that catches the stumbling drums from falling. Heart felt lyrics scratch and grab at your arm in an attempt to stop you from leaving. A calm and warming beginning brushes over "No Regrets" as guitars plant their feet. Drums petal on and set the stage to the growing explosion. Emotional lyrics combine with firm vocals to deliver the work of art. Sections rupture under the pressure this song builds and then releases it upon the land. "Fit Of Jealousy" shapes with a shifty bass line and quirky guitars as cries beckon in the night. The song resets itself and continues into a spiral of pent up emotion that wants to come out, but feels that it would be useless. This section of the album feels like the release of aggression stage. The CD finishes with the turn around and walk approach of "In My Rear View." A gentle acoustic anthem guides this beautiful song along on its path of relaxation and redemption. Calm vocals and good walking music are a fine way to finish the album.
This album has a great atmosphere about it and is a true example of how great bands can be discovered by ambitious indie labels. With a likeness that sounds like old No Doubt, they add more and go further then them by incorporating a new sound that is rare to find in three teamed groups. This group is going places and for a good reason, they have created a new brand in the sea of sounds that is sure to be duplicated for a long time to come. I'm sure that their different way to get by, is the best way.

"A DIFFERENT WAY TO GET BY" RECEIVES 4 STARS IN THE LAS VEGAS WEEKLY!!!
The Day After ...
A Different Way to Get By (4 stars)
Maybe The Day After ... had to shake off some dead weight, because in its new form as a three-piece outfit, the band sounds reinvigorated on A Different Way to Get By. The strength of The Day After ... has always been Jenine Cali's raw, throaty vocals, combined with pounding, post-grunge guitar work. But with the band's recent acquisition of drummer TJ Thompson and Cali's newfound love for The Catherine Wheel, songs like "Breaking Bones" and "Brand New Skin" take the band to a new level. It's no surprise then that one of the tracks, "Car Crash," spent a full week as champion on Xtreme Rock Radio's "It Came From the Mailroom" program.

STUDIO UPDATE AND NEW ALBUM TITLE!!!
Hello hello -
Well, our time in the studio is moving along swimmingly. I can't believe how well the songs have turned out. TJ has finished his drum parts and I have finished the bass tracking. Jenine is finishing up the guitars (she's doing all the guitars, since well....she's the only guitarist) and has begun vocal tracking this week, and is indeed sounding as beautiful as ever.
Since this record is coming out in October around the country, we felt that there was reason to introduce the rest of the nation to some of our better older tracks. So joining the 7 brand new tracks on this record, will be re-recorded and slightly reworked versions of "No Regrets", "Fit of Jealousy" and an acoustic rendition of "In My Rear View". We're gonna be giving you guys the official tracklisting here in the next few weeks.
So with that being said, the record has name-o:
"A Different Way To Get By"
The title comes from a lyric from one of the songs on the album and Jenine thought that it embodied the record and our journey to this point...and it does (good call Jenine).
If anyone is familiar with the 90's band Catherine Wheel, they're having a bit of an unconscious influence on these songs (and if you're not familiar with them, subject yourself to some GOOD music). Its gonna be rockin' and ambient at the same time, a very different sounding album than "Counting All The Upsets".
We're all VERY excited with the way things are going overall and you will have a new song on your radio here in the next few weeks so listen for that!!!
....well thats it kiddies, I'll be back later with some more goodness!!

TDA SIGNS WITH GOTHAM RECORDS!!!!!!
After about 2 months of talks, we couldn't be more excited to announce that we have signed with New York City based indie stalwart Gotham Records!!!!!! Patrick, Reuven and the crew there at Gotham have made us feel right at home and we are stoked to be part of the family.
We want to take this time to thank EVERYONE who has been close to us, supporting us and working right along side us for the past few years. This is a victory for all of us and we are proud of all of you. Thanx to all the Scholarship Kids for coming to all the shows, our manager Bonnie Kroll, our street/e-team captains Melissa and Shandi, and last but certainly not least, our families. The hard work is just beginning and we hope that you all will continue to support us and Gotham Records in the future. We're gonna try to make you and the city of Las Vegas very proud.
We also want to thank everyone for bearing with us for the past few months through the seemingly countless member changes that we've endured. We've been working very hard not to cancel shows, so its been non-stop between rehearsals and writing the new record. You guys have been nothing but patient and we severely appreciate it. It was said before that we have the best fans, and you guys prove that every single day. Thank you.
So, with that said, we want to formally introduce TJ Thompson (ex-Cedardrive) who will be playing the shit out of the drums for us on record and on tour. He's been doing a great job and we are excited to have him.
What about the record? Well, we have major distribution through Koch/Sony so the record will be released nationwide (more on that to come). The new songs are sounding AMAZING in the studio and we love the fact that those of you who have heard them live dig them so much.
The release date for our Gotham debut is.......October 17th, 2006!!!!!
You'll be hearing A LOT more from us in the future so stay tuned for major updates as they come. Thanx soooo much again for all the love and support and we will be seeing you on tour here real soon.

NEW ALBUM UPDATE!!!!!
So kiddies we have pretty much finished the writing process for the new record. Jenine is putting the finishing touches on the lyrics and we have been rehearsing the whole thing for the past few days. We start pre-production next week. We have chosen to work again with our producers from Upsets, Kelly May and Joey Atkins. We were VERY happy with our last record, so we figured if it aint broke.....
We hit the studio on July 16th for two weeks of yelling at each other and fist fights, so we're really excited ;) There's no set release date just yet, but keep your eyes and ears open, it may be sooner than you think.
We're very happy with the new songs and judging from the reactions of the few who have heard them, you will be too. So keep checking back for studio updates as we head towards the release of the new album. I'll be keeping you up to date on progress, tracklisting, album title, etc. We hope you guys are as excited as we. Talk to you soon!!!!!

LAST NIGHT'S ANNOUNCEMENT!!! (NEW DRUMMER)
For those of you who were not at the show on Saturday the 3rd, we decided that we'd surprise everyone and make the official announcement of who the new drummer is right on stage. He is Bradley Gallimore (ex-Rx Theory). We've kept him in the dark for a few weeks now and he had no idea what we were gonna do and was pretty surprised. It was an amazing show, a great turn out with A LOT of excitement in the air and we wanna thank everyone for coming out and being a part of Brad's induction into TDA. We definitely feel he's the man for the job, being a great drummer and adding just a new positive energy to the band. We'd like to thank all those that tried out and expressed interest in playing with us. We appreciate it.
Also, just to clear up any rumors about the situation with us and Rx. When we announced that we were looking for a new drummer, Bradley was one of the first to respond. This was a decision he made, we did not "seek" him out because in all honesty, we thought he was still with Rx. However, when he expressed interest in us, we went ahead and auditioned him (we're not stupid - he's a great drummer), later learning of his situation with that band. There was no disrespect towards Rx Theory intended on our part and we hope they dont see it that way. They are an amazing band and we consider them our good friends. It was just a matter of needing a drummer and someone responding to the call. So with that said, we wish them the best of luck and I'm sure they'll be up and running and absolutely rocking here real soon.
HYPERACTIVE TOUR
Ladies and gents of the greater southwest area. TDA will be coming through your town on a short tour through Arizona and New Mexico as we head towards the Hyperactive Music Festival in Albuquerque, NM. The dates are up in our "SHOWS" section and our myspace, so if you're in one of the cities, or in the area, come on out, we'd love to see you!!!!

THE INDIE SHOW?
So, we wanted to thank everyone who came out Sunday night to the Empire Ballroom and supported us during the show. We couldnt believe how packed and how loud you were when the curtain went up for us. We're very proud of our friends and fans. Thank you. Also, lotta love for the two other Vegas bands, Big Bad Zero and Otherwise - they were both fantastic. Gotta say that the judging was a little suspect considering that when they werent getting lap dances during the performances, they were comparing us to Kittie. Kittie, huh? Interesting. Didnt know I was in a metal band.
Anyhoo, we were at a little disadvantage considering we were one member short, but our last minute drum replacement John Pothoven did an AMAZING job during "Fit of Jealousy" and coupled with the energy that you guys in the crowd provided us, I think together we impressed the producers of the show.
So thanx again and the next time we see you all, we should have 4 members again. *crosses fingers* ;)
STARTING WORK ON NEW ALBUM
So we hope you all are still enjoying "Counting All The Upsets" and wearing your copy out!!! We have started working on songs for the follow-up. Actually, we had kinda started during the mixing of "Upsets", but we have officially started putting them together. We have four songs already completed and we are continuing to write and put ideas together. Obviously, we are in the beginning stages of this process, but this is the most fun for me. I absolutely LOVE the new stuff that we're doing. It's a little too early on to tell you exactly what the new record will sound like as a whole, but the stuff we have is by far the best we've done. Definitely the best "songs" we've written. We wanna at least TRY to take our time with this one and make sure that you guys have the absolutely best record you can get from us, but we tend to move pretty fast when we're excited about something. So we're gonna go back to the lab and continue to write and we'll be updating you guys as we go along. So dont start getting excited just yet......but you might wanna start getting A LITTLE excited ;)
UPDATE ON OUR DRUMMER SITUATION
Just wanted to let you guys know that the search for a new drummer is actually going a lot smoother than we expected. We were fortunate enough to get a lot of responses from a lot of interested people when we made the initial announcement.
As a lot of you may not know, we were told by Luis that he would continue drumming for us for at least the next 4 months so that we could fulfill our schedule or until we found someone. Well, we only got about a week out of him as he unexpectedly left the band as soon as we were done with our last tour. With that said, we would like to thank John Pothoven for doing a last minute fill in during the filming of The Indie Show on Sunday night.
We aren't ready, just yet, to announce a replacement but we feel that that time is very, very near so stay tuned and we will be letting you know here pretty soon.
Thanx everyone for their support and kind words during these past few weeks. Its extremely appreciated. Also, to the other bands around Vegas who have been very supportive - love you guys. The new look TDA is coming.

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!
We have the displeasure of announcing the break up of one of Las Vegas' best and most underrated bands. Now That We're Famous (formerly Vandelay Industries) have decided to call it a career and will focus on moving forward individually. The split is amicable - no drama. Keep an eye out for all of their seperate projects in the future as there is no doubt they will be great.
TDA has not only had the pleasure of becoming close with the guys but we have also toured with them twice and had a GREAT time doing it (I have lost my voice a couple of times jumping onstage with them to sing "Son of A Gun"), and we consider them brothers. Its a sad day in the Vegas music scene and hopefully this band will get the respect posthumously that they deserved while still an active band. Things seem to be appreciated more when they're gone, unfortunately. Great guys, great band. We're gonna miss them a lot. We have the honor to be a part of their farewell show on April 7th at The Ice House with Suicide Holiday (LA) and The Asphalt (AZ), so please come out and help send them off with a bang.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE MARCH 10TH SHOW
So for those interested and those that already have guessed, the March 10th show with The Birthday Massacre, The Start and The day after... is officially cancelled. Unfortunately we found that out secondhand, but we found out nevertheless. We would have liked to have made an official announcement a while ago, but didn't get the news until just now.
We are very sorry and disappointed that the show was not able to find another home. There were A LOT of kids coming to this show and I think i'm speaking for all the bands when I say that we were all looking forward to it. There has been no news of a reschedule, but i'm sure there will be another opportunity for this show. Thanks to all who were going to attend. We appreciate it. Talk to you all soon.

#8 MOST REQUESTED OF THE YEAR
We can't believe that for the third year in a row, we have a song in the "Top Ten Most Requested Songs of the Year" on the KOMP 92.3 HOMEGROWN SHOW. "Fit of Jealousy" was the 8th most requested song of the year and it's only been out for two months. So for everyone who called and requested and bugged Laurie...thanks so much. We can't express to you the appreciation. We're stoked you liked the song and the album. That's an awesome way for us to start out '06. See you all REAL soon ;) xo

THE START THIS WEEKEND!!!
Hey kids - we're gonna be opening for The Start once again this Friday night, Sept 23rd, at the Rock N Java (Eastern and Pebble, just off the 215). This will be our second time playing with this great band so please come out and lets make it as fun as the first time. Also on the bill are Radio Vago from L.A. and Vegas' own Absent Minded kicks things off big at 7pm. For those of you who just saw The Start at The Joint with Garbage, come show them some love up close and personal.
TDA IN THE EMERALD CITY
TDA has just been invited to play the Rockrgrl Festival in Seattle, Washington the weekend of Nov. 10-12th. This is a HUGE honor for us as some legendary female rockers will be in attendance, including: Bonnie Raitt, Ann Wilson (Heart), Patti Smith, and Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde), among numerous others. You can find out more about the Rockrgrl Festival at www.rockrgrl.com/conference. Please check the site out and/or check out Rockrgrl Magazine.
Unfortunately what this means is that the 21 and Over CD Release Party that was originally supposed to be Nov. 12th will have to be rescheduled. We will keep you updated as to when/where that will be. This, however, does not effect the All Ages CD Release Party that is scheduled for Nov. 18 at the Rock N' Java.

We just wanted to extend a sincere thanx to EVERYONE who came out to the Viper Room on Friday night. You guys packed the place - it was almost a sell out, so thank you all very much for allowing us to have a little bit of home with us while we were out there. We hope you all had a lot of fun and we'll see you all soon. Love ya.

NEW ALBUM IN NOVEMBER!!!!!
Yes, the rumors are true. We will be releasing our debut full-length, Counting All The Upsets, here in November!!! The new record will have 11 brand new rockin' songs and is definitely a step up for us creatively as well as production-wise. We've been working with producers Joey Adkins and Kelly May at their studio, AM AUDIO, in Boulder City, NV (amaudio.org). We're VERY proud of it and CAN'T WAIT for everyone to hear it.
The first single, "Fit of Jealousy", will be released to Vegas radio stations shortly so listen for it. When it hits, call and request it!!! It will also be added to our Myspace page(www.myspace.com/tda) and available for download.
Keep checking back here in the next few weeks for news on the CD Release events!! Thanx to everyone for being patient with us while we worked, and continue to work, on this record. We hope you're not dissapointed ;)
