Project Abstract

Business Rules for E-Businesses

Project Abstract

With the failure of many “.com” companies and the lack of motivation in the economy, e-commerce may appear to be a dying trend.  However, this is far from true.  There are companies that are increasing at a steady pace and do not seem to be slowing down anytime soon.  This is based solely on the fact that they have discovered how to run an effective E-Business and are continuously perfecting the manner in which they run it.  There are several types of E-Businesses that exist today, and each one must be run in a certain fashion to ensure that it will be profitable.

Our group will research the different types of e-businesses, the rules that are used to run them, and what each of them must do in order to thrive in today’s competitive economy.  The following are some of the questions that we look to answer with our research:

bulletWhat are the main types of E-Businesses?
bulletWhat are the main elements of each type of E-Business?
bulletWhat steps need to be taken to start or re-engineer an E-Business to run effectively?
bulletAre there certain business rules that one particular type of E-Business should use, while others should avoid them?
bulletIf an E-Business has failed, what were the causes, or the factors that lead to their failure, and can these examples be used as learning experiences for other E-Businesses (or specific types of E-Businesses)?

In our research, we intend to prove that E-Businesses are not doomed from the start.  If each type of E-Business follows the business rules that it should adhere to in order to succeed, there is no reason why businesses on the Internet should not continue to thrive.
