And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
bear you on the breath of dawn,
make you to shine like the sun-
and hold you in the palm of his hand.

Maria "Monnie"Braquet Alleman

She was born on a sugar-cane farm near Loreauville on Oct. 23, 1912. She was valedictorian of her classes at Loreauville High School and Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She did graduate work in mathematics and physics at LSU. She was a member of MENSA.

After teaching in Iberia Parish for several years and moving around south Louisiana, she and her family settled in Lake Charles in 1943. She served her community as president of the St. Hubert Church Altar Society and as a secretary of the Landry Memorial High School Parent-Teacher Association. She worked in the laboratory at Cities Service Refinery, and she was a tax preparer for many years.

Survivors include her children, Morgan Alleman, J. Boyd Alleman and Martha Lejeune , Deborah Pedersen, and Elaine Martin; one sister, Mathilde Braquet Bourque; and a large, loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence S. "Alley" Alleman; a son, Douglas Alleman; a sister, Martha Olivier, and a brother, Gilman Braquet, both of New Iberia; and an adopted sister, Myrtle Brown, a longtime resident of Lake Charles.

She was never wavering
always the same
whether in good times
and celebration
or in the worst strains of family and health

She was a pillar of strength
a source of inspiration
my role model

The one that I clung to
never changing
always the same

She never missed a holiday birthday or other chance
to tell me (by card) that she loved me and to
"Take care" or Take it easy"
and always
God bless

She weathered 90 years
I was involved in 48 of them

Among others things,
She prepared taxes
and until that year
Tax Day was March 31
1955 was the first year taxes were collected on April 15
the day her youngest daughter was born

I found out she had cancer - lymphoma
Never made a fuss
although once
she did say it was an annoyance
an irritant

it was just life
and she knew to whom to turn
Jesus was her Lord her Savior her life

So when my best friend asked me
if there were anywhere I'd like to go
I told her I had an aunt in Lake Charles
whom I'd *love* to see
She came to Natchitoches from Baton Rouge
which was 3-4 hours away
to take me to Lake Charles which was
another 3 hours in the other direction

We'd spend the afternoon
and play Scrabble
and talk
then she'd bring me back home and
and return to her home

Thank you Toni

I love you Monnie

Good Nite
Take care
Take it easy
and
May God bless

+ + + always inhisgrace + + +
Miriam
