PREDESTINATION
Romans 8:28-31
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
8:28
We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan.
8:29
God knew them before he made the world, and he decided that they would be like his Son so that Jesus would be the firstbornn of many brothers.
8:30
God planned for them to be like his Son; and those he planned to be like his Son, he also called; and those he called, he also made right with him; and those he made right, he also glorified. Romans 8:28-31 NASB
8:31
So what should we say about this? If God is with us, no one can defeat us

This is interesting...and controversial. But I will present what I have found.........
Easton:
This shows God's plan or purpose of salvation.
The eternal, immutable, unconditional decree or "determinate purpose" of God governs all events. This belongs with the "secret things" of God.
If God is our guide, we must accept this doctrine with all it's mysteriousness & settle all questionings in the humble devout acknowledgment, "Even so Father; for so it seemed good in Thy sight" illustrates the richness of His free grace & His just displeasure with sin. This enforces truth - salvation is entirely of grace. This doctrine should deepen the believers humility & elevate his confidence of the full assurance of hope.
Matthew Henry:
All that God designed for glory & happiness as the end, He decreed to grace & holiness as the way. For reasons not perfectly known to us, god determined to recover some by regeneration & the power of His grace. He predestinated, or before decreed, that they should be conformed to the image of His Son.
In this life, they walk in His steps.
It is an effectual call, from self & earth to God, & Christ, & heaven, as our end; from sin & vanity to grace & holiness, as our way. This is the gospel call. The love of God, ruling in the hearts of those who once were enemies to Him, proves that they have been called according to His purpose.
None are thus justified but those that are effectually called. Those who stand out against the gospel call, abide under guilt and wrath.
The power of corruption being broken in effectual calling, & the guilt of sin removed in justification, nothing can come between that soul & glory. This encourages our faith & hope; for, as for God, His way, His work, is perfect. The more we know of other things, the less we wonder; but the further we are led into gospel mysteries, the more we are affected by them. While God is for us, & we keep in His love, we may with holy boldness defy all the powers of darkness.
Well, it seems as if the commentaries I have used only speak in agreement with predestination. If I only look at the Word...no commentaries...not mans interpretation.....it seems as if it is true.
It may not seem fair...ahh but read Ezekiel 18:25-31..........
25 "Yet you say, 'The way of the Lord is not right.' Hear now, O house of Israel! Is My way not right? Is it not your ways that are not right?
26 "When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity and dies because of it, for his iniquity which he has committed he will die.
27 "Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness which he has committed and practices justice and righteousness, he will save his life.
28 "Because he considered and turned away from all his transgressions which he had committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
29 "But the house of Israel says, 'The way of the Lord is not right.' Are My ways not right, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not right?
30 "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each according to his conduct," declares the Lord GOD. "Repent and turn away from all your transgressions, so that iniquity may not become a stumbling block to you.
31 "Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel?
Who are we to say God is not fair? It is us who is not fair. God is sovereign...we are but a vapor.
So, I must say...Thank You Jesus for your grace upon me.
In His Mercies,
Becky
