Placed on the shelf for almost six months, shooting was about to start once again. Previous material was to be scrapped, and we were to begin with a clean slate. After ensuring that everyone's schedule would be acounted for, filming began.
... but dark days were on the horizon...
The actress failed to show for two straight days, without a call. "Canned!" Hastily, the search was on to find another, before the film was shelved for good.
Filming continued as scheduled, shooting around the scenes in which an actress would be needed. Then, three days into shooting, my script supervisor recomended a friend. The film continued, shooting the actress in none verbal scenes until she was able to learn the part.
A week and a half later we wrapped principal photography.
Then the idea to change the original ending...
The new ending was written, and everyone was called back. We shot for a weekend, long hours, trying to get the new, much longer ending completed.
Finally complete?
Not so fast...
In the editing room, things weren't as good. We were not happy with the material that we once thought we were. Shelved again...
... but not for long.
Now, another six months, and over a year from it's original conception, the dust is blown off, and the hunt is on once again, that's right, for another actress.
Production of The First Time is scheduled to begin in January. The cast and crew is still being put together at the moment.
For those of you who have worked on previous versions of this film with us, we are immensely appreciative for all the hard work and long hours that you were so willing to devote -- thank you.
