Car: Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno
Takumi is a person of little words. He always look sleepy and doesn't seem to be interested in car racing or have any knowledge about them. However, Takumi is a very skilled driver and has been driving for the past 5 years since he was 13 years old. Early each morning he has to deliver tofu to the hotels. He carries a cup of water in the car and has to make sure that it doesn't spill when he is driving. So now he is an excellent driver who every other racer wants to defeat.

In his younger years, Bunta was the fastest downhill driver in Akina and he probably still is. He now owns a tofu shop and has been training his son's driving skills by making him do the early morning deliveries. He also has a great knowledge of the mechanical stuff as well.

Natsuki is a prostitue...well...at least I think so. I mean she spends time with an old rich man who pays her $3000 to see him 3 times a month. She calls him "Papa" but I can assure you, he is not her father. She likes Takumi and they spend time together but that's beacuse he doesn't know about her weird relationship with the old man.
Car:
Yuuichi is the owner of the gas station where Takumi, Iketani and Itsuki work. He is friends with Bunta. I think he was also a racer during his younger days. He was the one who told Iketani about Akina's fastest downhill driver. He also notices that Takumi isn't as clueless as he looks.
Car: Toyota AE86 Levin
Wataru appears in Second Stage at the Ryousuke vs Kyouichi in Akagi. His car is also an 86 but he has a turbo engine. He wants to race with the Redsuns but Keisuke refuses him saying the Redsuns don't race anyone on their homeground anymore. He then challenges Takumi to a race on a dangerous road where they chase each other until one overtakes the other. He is Kazumi's older brother.
Car: None
Kazumi is Wataru's younger sister. She goes everywhere with him to all the races and spends her money on his car too. She becomes friends with Itsuki after he helped her out when she was short of cash. Itsuki really likes her but I think she only sees him as a younger brother. She's older than him by a year or something.
Car: Toyota SW20 MR2 G-Limited
Kai appears in the Third Stage which is the movie. He is one of the greatest drivers around and is the son of Bunta's old rival, who also used to be a racer. Kai finds out about Takumi and his 86 and challenges him. After seeing his madass driving techniques, he's become one of my favourite drivers. Oh and you gotta love the car too.
Car: Toyota SW20 MR2 G-Limited
Ken appears int the Third Stage. He is the father of Kai and is Bunta's old rival. He was a street racer in his younger days. When Kai tells him that he's going to race against Takumi, Ken encourages his son to win because he doesn't like Bunta very much.
Car: Toyota Celica GT4 ST205
Miki attends the same school as Takumi and Natsuki and he is Natsuki's ex-boyfriend. He got punched by Takumi once when Takumi heard him talking bad stuff about Natsuki. In Third Stage, he kidnaps Natsuki but she calls Takumi for help. Takumi comes chasing them in the snow. Really cool race scene here.
Car: Mercedes Benz E-Class E180
I've just realised who he is after watching Third Stage. I think he's Miki's dad. When Miki is talking to Natsuki in his car, he asks her why she has changed because she used to do everthing he told her to just like how his father did. Then Natsuki says that she's not like that anymore. So my guess is, this "Papa" man is Miki's father. He's the man that pays Natsuki $3000 to spend time with him after school.
Car:
Masashi appears in Second Stage and is a friend of Bunta and Yuuichi. He was in Akina with Yuuichi to witness the race between the Seiji Iwaki and Takumi. He notices how hard Takumi pushes the 86 to the limit and he questions how long the current engine will last. I think he's a mechanic becos he was the one that Bunta got the new engine from.
