Proper Handling/Operations of
a Diesel Vehicle
Before starting the engine for the day, always check oil
and water level
Take time to warm up the engine before running
Observe proper engine speed and driving procedure
Avoid hard acceleratiion and over-loading
Avoid running through flooded areas or deep water

Replace oil at regular intervals
Check air cleaner and replace as necessary
Have your fuel tank drained to remove contaminants at
regular intervals
Check fuel lines for cracks and leaks
Be aware of your engine smoke emissions. Have a smoke
test regularly.
This may help to detect any serious problem that may be developing in the
engine.
Proper Servicing or Repair Attitude
Have your diesel vehicle serviced only
by a qualified repair shop.
Fuel injection systems, while attached as an integral
part of a diesel engine, are serviced and repaired in a different manner.
The diesel engine can be serviced by a qualified motor shop. However, fuel
injection pumps are best serviced and repaired by qualified injection pump
service centers or calibration shops.
NOTE: Always specify original
or genuine spare parts when needing replacements. Always indicate the Part No. or
Stamping No. to ensure that you get the correct parts required.
Properly-Equipped and Qualified Injection Pump repair Shop
Facility must have the appropriate calibration machine
or test bench that is regularly calibrated with the use of a calibration
master pump. The calibration machine should be operated in an air-conditioned
and adequately-ventilated room.
Facility must have complete Manufacturer's Calibration
Data for accurate pump calibration.
Facility must be equipped with proper tools and the required
special tools.
Technician must be trained and certifi3d to have the technical
know-how for proper servicing and repair.
Facility should have a sufficient number of service bays
to conduct troubleshooting and proper servicing and repair.
Facility must use industry-standard smoke meter as a final
servicing procedure to ensure smoke-free performance of the vehicle.
